I’m a girl from Pennsylvania who has been living in New England for more than thirty years. These images from Amish country really move me. Thank you.

I am always interested in how you ask people to take their photographs (especially in developing countries and rural areas). Do you just approach them and ask ‘Can I take your photo?’ In developing countries especially, how do you establish a comfort zone that does not appear ‘touristy’ or ‘zoo’ like? Also, before you take photographs of children, do you ask their parents’ permission? Just curious about the behind-the-scenes of the photograph. Thanks! Best, Edyta
