What an amazing book! I’m often stunned by amazing high quality granny styles in Chinatown.

really cool book pictures!!!

it’s wonderful and it brings attention to a unjustly forgotten age especially since fashion is so ageist. i love this more than his grand productions for vogue! :)
February 9, 2014 at 1:52 am
Fashion is really not as ageist these days. Plenty of older models up to the age of 80 in American Apparel and Chanel campaign. Forgot the models name..Of course younger often looks better, but in the cases older looks better, it looks amazing.

Made me smile. Love this.
February 5, 2014 at 12:37 am
It´s fantastic. Nice to see that getting older don´t mean losing your style.
February 5, 2014 at 2:13 am
Oh this is wonderful! It’s refreshing to see real people in books and not just models, it looks really witty too.
February 5, 2014 at 2:20 am
I love it, definitely going to grab a copy.

Thanks for drawing attention to this, Mr Schulman. Tim Walker has been a beloved photographer of mine for a long time.

Oh Wow! This is great. I think many old ladys have the ultimate look, because most of them don’t care about trends or other people’s opinion at all. The biggest compliment I’ve ever heard, came from an old lady, she said I always looked elegant, and I was wearing jeans. She had the look!!
February 5, 2014 at 4:30 am
Superb and life affirming; I’ll order this from my local bricks, mortar, people and real books bookshop next time I’m in town.
February 5, 2014 at 4:33 am
Dear Mr. Sartorialist,
a lovely book, indeed. But, why amazon? Why not your little bookstore in your town? Why not your independent bookseller?
We all must take care to preserve variety!
Thanks for your great photos.
February 5, 2014 at 10:15 am
I agree but how do you do that?
I have no idea who is carrying the book.
I’ll try harder to push people to small independent booksellers.
February 5, 2014 at 3:35 pm
Each good bookseller in the world can order this book. I am bookseller in Germany, I orderd it today for my store, tomorrow I can hold it in my hands, I orderd a second one for myself, thanks a lot for many inspirations. By the way, most of us Indies have internet-shops, and we are mostly better than Amazon and proud about it. Kind regards!
February 5, 2014 at 11:26 am
I agree, and would love to support local shops. But I live where I cannot walk to a bookseller and have no transportation. The internet is my source. Perhaps I’ll try to find things from local places that sell online? But I doubt they provide free shipping.
As for granny style… My own Nanna never went out without a hat.

Mine never went out without lipstick.

My all-time favorite photo of yours was on 2/5/07 (Wow-exactly seven years ago today!!) a granny in leopard. I remember when I pulled it up that day I laughed and said, “That will be me someday!” She should be in this book.

Please! I am a granny (Nana actually but let’s not split hairs) to 3 little girls – and I would not be seen dead in those outfits! This is just such ageism in photos and just so not like we grannies really are. Rock those Red Hats!
