Her style suits her so well. I love her hair, her shoes, and her layers.

I do too. She looks magical. Its not your typical urban look. Its completely her own. And the pale skin, and curly wild black hair like that you can’t help but love. She looks like someone I would want to get to know.

I love how you find the “interesting” in the most various people.
This is gorgeous
November 25, 2013 at 5:03 pm
she had that gypsy look going until I got to her socks, now I don’t know-it’s interesting!
November 25, 2013 at 5:13 pm
nice grunge style,a breeze from 90′s
November 25, 2013 at 8:23 pm

Amazing fur coat – looks so vintage!

i’m not so sure about the look. I love the picture.

Thrift shop madness!
November 25, 2013 at 5:41 pm
Tights and sandals are terrible but the rest is so much great!
New post on lowbudget-lowcost Fashion Blog
Love this long dress with a long coat, and her long hair!
November 25, 2013 at 6:16 pm
Oh, I don’t know about this.
November 25, 2013 at 6:18 pm
are you sure? I think I might have tagged this under androgyny…but then I suppose you did speak to them
November 25, 2013 at 6:20 pm
Actually please don’t post that last comment! Assuming you did speak to them, I don’t need to draw attention to it if that’s what they prefer! Argh!
November 25, 2013 at 11:20 pm
um maybe think before you post?
November 26, 2013 at 8:37 am
I agree with you Annelie. The person and their look is to me androgynous. They lost me at the knees too.
November 25, 2013 at 6:25 pm
She’s rocking that gypsy look.
November 25, 2013 at 6:32 pm
I’m sorry, I am not a fan of this particular look.

Quirky and fun! Her hair is beautiful :)
November 25, 2013 at 7:10 pm
I love the layers of the top half, but the bottom half is terrible.
She looks great from the knees up. Probably couldn’t find tights to wear with that dress.
November 25, 2013 at 8:48 pm
Sorry man, can’t bite on this one. Too much Cat Lady going on.
November 26, 2013 at 2:54 pm
And cat ladies are wrong because…? Yes, that’s right, becasue they are spinsters and therefore barren and undesirable to men. “Bite On” says it all really, in terms of how you look at pictures of women.
November 26, 2013 at 4:30 pm
Seems like someone has her cat-print panties in a wad….
November 26, 2013 at 5:24 pm
I actually came up with “Cat Lady” based on the stockings. And the stockings are what generated the desire to comment.
Try not to read anything else into it, but those words are probably pearls thrown before trolls.
November 27, 2013 at 1:28 am
And cat ladies are wrong because . . . . because, ladyofletters, Sebastion doesn’t go for cat ladies.
The purpose of this site is opinions. Sebastian is allowed to have his. (And free of push-back, I might add.)
November 27, 2013 at 4:50 pm
Always interesting who is allowed to have an opinion and who is not, isn’t it.
November 28, 2013 at 6:49 pm
Cat MAN maybe
November 25, 2013 at 9:04 pm
I never saw someone as inspitational as her.
November 25, 2013 at 10:24 pm
I’m not sure about her style…
November 25, 2013 at 10:55 pm
The textures and colors of the coat, dress, and scarf, and to a lesser extent the hair, are interesting. The rest is pretty much a nightmare.
November 25, 2013 at 11:44 pm
I would not want to be alone in an elevator with her.

Really ugly outfit. The shoes and socks combination is so tacky.
I thought the effortless natural look is still in, so what’s with this 10-million-layers-because-I’m-never-sure look?
Maybe it’s because I see people looking like her in the university district of Tehran,Iran everyday. To me, this look belongs to the brain-less who constantly try to stand out by opting for a “different” look and tirelessly try to fool people into believing that they actually “are different”.
That’s how they put it. I’d say they simply look pretentious though.
November 26, 2013 at 12:28 pm
une chatte grise
November 26, 2013 at 2:50 pm
One could also, of course, say that posting mean-spirited, insulting excoriations of those whose style one dislikes rather than engaging in thoughtful commentary is tacky and pretentious. But I will simply say that one may wish to consider the idea that those who differ from oneself may do so for perfectly valid reasons–not reasons with which one has to agree, of course, but reasons nonetheless–not simply because they are “brain-less.”
November 26, 2013 at 2:51 pm
That is a very mean-spirited comment. People are so conservative.
November 26, 2013 at 5:01 pm
Conservative, that is one strong word to use. Useful when you’re not sure what else to say.
How about expressing a real opinion every once in a while? Everyone seems to love everything. It’s excruciating.
December 3, 2013 at 2:13 pm
Maybe because not everyone wants to look “in” as if they were a mindless.
When I think of “effortless” I think of the ubiquitous “I want to look classy, but I am really just class conscious” look. Featuring; featureless, un-distressed dark jeans ( always skin tight, skinny leg, lower mid rise), black booties with a heel, and a slim cut leather jacket with that cascade collar. Like they shop at Vince all the time. I find that to be trying so hard to be effortless and subtle that its tacky.
This girl looks like someone that is free and comfortable being herself. Trying to be the same as everyone else is far more stupid then trying to be different from everyone else, because people ARE all different.

November 26, 2013 at 7:21 am
I love this combination. I’m taking inspiration from the clogs with tights plus pre-Raphaelite vibe right now. I must finally be embracing cat-lady-dom. It is my destiny and it makes me happy, so why fight it!

November 26, 2013 at 2:57 pm
i don’t know, maybe check your behind
November 26, 2013 at 10:18 am
sure the socks and shoes are completely unrelated to the look.
But the image could be quite useful as a color harmony palette. if you zoom in on the coat and dress you get a lovely arrangement of mauves and purple hues, different textures and drapery that extends to the ringlets of her hair. drammatic and sublime!
November 26, 2013 at 11:50 am
Love it! Reminds me of Tiny Tim.

November 26, 2013 at 1:23 pm
She’s like the coolest Wicked Witch of the East Coast I’ve ever seen! Loving this photo!
November 26, 2013 at 1:56 pm
She is great until you get to the legs. Yikes. I want to airbrush in dark mauve or black stockings and black shoes. Then she could star in La Boheme.
November 26, 2013 at 4:37 pm
I dislike the outfit tremendously. Yes, she does have beautiful, healthy locks, but the length and style of her hair does not compliment her appearance.
Glancing at her from the waist up, I see the Mona Lisa.
November 26, 2013 at 5:03 pm
What a horrible diatribe of bile and negativity the internet can facilitate seriously people this is what you do for kicks? I can only assume that the negatives here are covering their own mirrors whilst taking snide delight in tearing someone else apart.
November 27, 2013 at 7:10 am
Yeah, undignified ain’t it… What the web brings out in some people.
November 27, 2013 at 6:23 am
That used to be called thrift-store chic. I’m not sure you can find a thrift-store in Manhattan anymore. Probably costs a fortune from some of the peg Anthropologie-type outlet.
Either way, I like her look. She should be singing Laura Nyro songs at the Blue Note.

Title should be : How NOT to dress! It has NOTHING to do with grunge.
In Milan they would chase her out of town………..

Alanis Morisette hair, Stevie Nicks voluminous layers, and socks and shoes courtesy of Pipi Longstocking! At least she’s fun to look at ;-)
November 29, 2013 at 2:45 pm
Many comments quite hilarious (and grumpy). Enjoyed. I would paint a picture from this photo in a heartbeat. It’s very painterly, somehow. Those two black designs in the tights pattern made it all work for me.
And worn out clogs! Whaaa…!
What nerve. You go, girl/boy!

December 2, 2013 at 3:02 pm
I think people just want to show that they appreciate “art”. I have a hard time understanding this type of fashion. It looks dirty!
December 3, 2013 at 5:27 am
Thanks for sharing your view! But no thanks for the mind reading… Obviously, we’re all different, so not everyone sees it the same way. That does not negate anyone’s opinion, or mean that it is form from un-genuine motives.
I like this outfit. It also reminds me of a pre-Raphaelite painting and that whole arts and crafts vibe – especially the socks and so on – a vibe I have always been fond of, having grown up surrounded by it. I am not showing off my knowledge (what I’ve said is hardly remarkable) I am just sharing the way I feel, as you are.
