I’m not a fan of flats, but I LOVE those shoes!

Yes, I love this poem also. I saw on your blog, Monsieur Marcel, where it comes from.
Great lyric. Thank you for sharing.
Greetings from Amsterdam.

WOW Mans are loving more and more women´s clothing
October 23, 2013 at 4:44 pm
ok, that looks a little strange. I love the sandals and the bag, and the robe is ok, but then I look at the face, and is that a man? This would look better on a woman I think.
October 23, 2013 at 6:20 pm
I could wear men’s pants, shirt, shoes, hat, coat and no one thinks its strange so why not men in women’s clothes ?
October 23, 2013 at 7:59 pm
People would certainly think it was strange. Just not as strange. Besides, I think you know why its strange. Just like everything else…its strange because its not done. Why don’t people wear bras on the outside of shirts? It would work, but it would be strange.

Your comparison makes you sound ridiculous. It is done. This is a photograph of someone doing it. This is something particularly difficult for people, a man who looks like a man in womens clothes. I love the Sartorialist but remember it is a documentation of beautiful but generally very safe fashion. There are loads of people wearing much more outrageous gender questioning clothes than is shown on here. Wake up and look around you.
A beautiful person with beautiful clothes (i’m not totally sure if it is a man or women, no offence meant)
October 23, 2013 at 4:49 pm
Now i have seen everything in my life. or not yet?

fantastico , sublime y arrebatador.

October 23, 2013 at 6:14 pm
A powerful, yet understated, contrast of rich colours and textures, with a pop of joy from the bag…
A wonderfully daring expression of the person underneath.
Politics of Fashion
Interesting! Love the coat!
October 23, 2013 at 6:30 pm
Astonishing…. in so many wonderful ways.
October 23, 2013 at 6:46 pm
I love that nothing about this photograph fits our gender expectations or socialized perceptions. His feet are incredibly delicate, as are his hands, and his clothing choice is unique on its own, and then there is the very “masculine” ( in our N. American culture )of the shaved head. Beautiful capture. Quite thoughtful.
October 23, 2013 at 7:07 pm
Huh? Not drag. Not cross-dressing. Not a performance. Not a statement.
October 23, 2013 at 7:56 pm
Thats incredible pretty, but at the same time not feminine at all.
October 23, 2013 at 8:04 pm
Is he more androgynous than I am?
October 23, 2013 at 8:29 pm
Dramatic outfit, dramatic lighting. Love it!
October 23, 2013 at 8:38 pm
Well okay then. Struck me as a little strange at first, but definitely growing on me. This time of year, however, I feel cold looking at other people’s bare feet.
October 23, 2013 at 8:43 pm
Would definitely love to know the story of this person/shot.
October 23, 2013 at 8:44 pm
I love the colors, especially that coat, beautiful
October 23, 2013 at 8:56 pm
something wrong i guess, kind of empirique fashion or grote-burlesque %&/()=???
October 23, 2013 at 9:17 pm
that’s a dude!
the coat, bag, and shoes are fantastic but on a dude? too bad….

Hmm… I gotta say “No!” to this, sorry… Coat is interesting tho!
October 24, 2013 at 3:55 am
I-sometimes-agree men to wear women’s clothes but this pushed the boat too far! In fact I don’t think it suits him anyway…
October 24, 2013 at 4:37 am
Not a fan of the sandals, this dude needs to kick it up a notch with some great heels
October 24, 2013 at 5:01 am
Would wear that any day! And I don’t care whether this person is male or female or anywhere else on the spectrum, the outfit is spectacular.
October 24, 2013 at 6:43 am
I looked at the picture for 5 minutes and I still don’t know what I think about it.
October 25, 2013 at 10:05 am
Yes I’ve been looking for a few days now and I still don’t know if I like it…But I keep coming back, compelled! It’s such an unexpected take on androgynous. It’s a low key kind of femininity mixed with low key masculinity… Not the usual amped up statement. It makes me think. Must be a good thing eh?
October 24, 2013 at 6:55 am
His style is incredible! http://www.lavenue.com
October 24, 2013 at 8:10 am
There are a lot of homeless people who do that, just say ‘what the hell” and put on a tutu or something, because why not? Perhaps pleasing yourself is the point?
October 24, 2013 at 9:10 am
In my opinion this isn’t normal. This is deviation and it shouldn’t be promoted… I’m really an open person but it’s distasteful.
October 24, 2013 at 12:47 pm
I agree with you Keira. Looking at this for me would be like eating a blue grapefruit or a purple banana. It would be tough to swallow.
November 13, 2013 at 3:04 am
Wow. You think this is a deviation? Distasteful? Your closed-mindedness is distasteful. Keira, thank god people like you and your kind of thinking are slowly becoming obsolete and irrelevant.
Congratulations to this man and for expressing his personal sense of style and for “deviating” from rigid gender norms through fashion, whatever what some ignoramuses may think of him.
October 24, 2013 at 9:20 am
I don’t think it matters whether or not this is a man (woman express their sexuality by dressing how they please, why shouldn’t men be able to?) but has anyone considered that it might be a woman with a short haircut and masculine features? The person’s feet and hands are very delicate so lets not make assumptions… Either way, the androgyny makes this photo far more interesting than a simple photo of an outfit!
October 24, 2013 at 5:15 pm
Good point. This might be a woman.
But … I still think the bag throws the look off.
October 24, 2013 at 9:42 am
so elegant ……
October 24, 2013 at 11:51 pm
agree, sublimely elegant.
October 24, 2013 at 9:57 am
Not a fan of the look, but the sun / shadows is amazing.
October 24, 2013 at 10:03 am
WOW!! i ADORE, IS HE, JAPANESE?? they know the contrast btw be or not!! fantastic!!!
October 24, 2013 at 10:41 am
Oh my, oh my, oh my! He got up this morning and has pleased so many people, myself included, with his eye and taste. Bravissimo!
October 24, 2013 at 10:47 am
Wait a minute…..love the shadows in this shot!
The photo is great (as always), but the subject is bizarre.
October 24, 2013 at 11:31 am
Absolutely love this. Thanks for posting! One of my all time favorites. He has lovely feet, to boot. We should all be so lucky…
October 24, 2013 at 1:04 pm
all about choice…really great.
October 24, 2013 at 1:29 pm
I actually think he is really well-dressed. I love his bag and coat. I’ll bet he would be great to shop with. Such style…
October 24, 2013 at 3:57 pm
It’s rare to see a cross dressing man with good taste and a sense of style. I’m inclined to believe this particular gentleman is in fact motivated by style and a love of fashion rather than the desire to wear anything as long as its women’s clothing.
October 24, 2013 at 5:29 pm
Took me awhile to digest this picture but I think this deserves an applause as a subtle yet fascinating capture of androgyny and sexual ambiguity.
October 24, 2013 at 11:10 pm
Was this gentleman in one of the Sex in the City movies?
He looks a lot like the fellow Carrie Bradshaw was considering hiring as her PA. You may recall he was wearing a suit and a pair of high heeled shoes!
Anyhow, love his outfit in this shot!
October 25, 2013 at 4:49 am
How come everyone is so sure this person is a man ? It has to be a woman, because of the dainty feet.
October 25, 2013 at 9:34 am
TRUE!!!!!?! Anyways, good point!
October 25, 2013 at 9:33 am
I keep popping back to this photo. To be honest, I don´t know what to make of it! It almost looks like you´ve manipulated his head on this body. The hands and feet don´t seem to match his head- which is very masculine in bone structure. It doesn´t seem to compute. But, I guess I choose to look it as art. IT´S A FORM OF ART. Challenging….definitely…CHALLENGING -our perception of what seems….”correct!” Thanks Scott!
October 25, 2013 at 11:33 am
I like the bag, that’s for sure.
I know one thing – it would sure turn some heads.
October 25, 2013 at 1:19 pm
Dress,blouse , skirt,pants,scarpins,sandals,…why not!
October 25, 2013 at 6:18 pm
The only thing that worries me is that he looks worried. It would make so much difference if he looked as if he was enjoying his look. So many cross dressers do seem to look worried. Not surprisingly – it can be a precarious business.
I love his coat and sandals. Such a change from the usual uniform. But that’s a funny way to hold a bag.
October 25, 2013 at 6:28 pm
Gostei do Style ,mas preferia em minha mulher !! ( talves se ele fosse mais alto ! )
October 27, 2013 at 12:39 pm
I don’t see that the problem is with him being male. He looks great and his outfit is on point so that’s all that really matters.
October 29, 2013 at 6:31 pm
Different strokes for different folks. BUT, while this may work in Milan, there are so, so many places in our world where it would not. And, the first thing that pops into my mind is that “realistically” the world is not ready for this and while this man is brave, would it be “wise” to walk around town like this where most of us live?
October 29, 2013 at 7:33 pm
Cross dressing has been around throughout history in nearly every culture. Its easy enough to just enjoy the fact that it exists, and what a dull world it would be if everyone did as expected.

This is so gorgeous!
December 22, 2013 at 6:42 am
Is this person a boy or a girl?
December 28, 2013 at 11:54 am
Funny how men and women are in an uproar when men put on womens clothing.
Yet at the same time are so open and in favor of women wearing mens clothes.
Mens Dress shoes, blazers, pants, oxford shirts stop wearing them go wear womens clothes.
Let us men have something to wear so you can’t then complain about the boring colorless options that we are dreaded to in department stores.
That is all.
January 2, 2014 at 1:43 pm
Thanks Scott so much for taking this amazing photo of me !!!!!!! And thanks everyone commenting here !!!!!!!! To me, fashion is what I enjoy wearing… I never ever care it’s for men or women..that will never be my thing.
