garance’s favourites: sox w/ birckenstocks! :)

I agree not a fan of the socks and sandals but this photo is still pretty amazing.

This trend doesn’t go with me.

I couldn’t agree more…

Hate to be the dissenting voice, but too lazy to go to the bottom. Love the Birkies. Makes the style cool instead of expected….plus I just think its flattering and cute. I can kind of imagine her kicking them off while sitting. Makes her more charming then girls who wear heels. Love the whole look…..even the hat( had to think on that one) !

Love it. Like something by Alfred Eisenstaedt,if you don’t mind me sayin’

I like her socks and birkenstocks combo, and evian bottles of water make for a good accessory.

I like how she’s looking wistfully at the American Apparel clothes.

Très étrange, je valide tout sauf les chaussette !

Love her original look and the Parisian cafe reflected in the glass!!

Join the navy and see the world – even in unacceptable white sandals and gray ankle highs
October 20, 2013 at 10:53 am
Excess of fashion… Hopelessness victim
October 20, 2013 at 11:10 am
The American Apparel is the irony…
October 20, 2013 at 11:18 am
I really like pics like that. Have a nice day.
October 20, 2013 at 11:19 am
A white beret would’ve worked better.
October 20, 2013 at 11:47 am
Although I do like like Birkenstocks, I’m not a fan of this look, sorry, it doesn’t work for me!
October 20, 2013 at 11:56 am
If there were not those sandals I would call it perfect! I just hate those birkenstock things…
October 20, 2013 at 12:13 pm
Birkenstocks crack me up!

LOVE EEVRYTHING BUT THE SHOES ! <3 :)

It’s a very modern look and I especially like your hat. You have nice blog.
I don’t like the Birk and socks, but what I love more and more about your blog, it is these pictures of people not being beautiful in a classical or trendy way, but who are still at least very pretty, sometimes gorgeous, always interesting.
We do not have to all look like top models, we have to be ourselves. This is what you show. This way, your work spreads kindness and generosity.

Love the socks and sandals!
October 20, 2013 at 2:23 pm
Those socks ruined it all.
October 20, 2013 at 2:24 pm
I just love it! Individuality, fun and comfort, even warmth! And bright red joy through the bag!
October 20, 2013 at 2:31 pm
Noooo, don’t fall for the American Apparel!! You’re clearly better than that!
October 20, 2013 at 2:43 pm
So cute with this hat!
October 20, 2013 at 2:53 pm
Socks with sandals no no no no!
October 20, 2013 at 3:03 pm
Gorgeous photograph! Love how you can see her face back in het window store.
October 20, 2013 at 3:08 pm
Anytime is a good time for open-toed stilettos. In her case they should be mandatory.
October 20, 2013 at 3:36 pm
Really like this shot, loving her Birkenstocks!
October 20, 2013 at 6:57 pm
Another “escapee” ….
I like the shot, though.

While Birks look great with heavy, real socks, they look silly with footie-anklet hybrids (actually, I can’t think of anything that these socks would work with).
October 21, 2013 at 3:36 am
A girl can dream …… There’s definitely an artistic adventurous individual there :-)
October 21, 2013 at 3:39 am
I love her hat. But here is a combination of shoes and socks too rough.
October 21, 2013 at 6:29 am
I take it we all see what is happening south of her knees…?
October 21, 2013 at 8:18 am
Ah, the comments anti-Birks have become so predictable so as to be dull, missing so much about this picture. I adore her individuality, her wit, and her determination to be comfortable. She’s working at working it, and it’s that impulse — here by turns incongruent and defiant–that is utterly charming and invigorating. It’s all about process for me in this one. You go girl creature, you go!
October 21, 2013 at 10:07 am
Lulu – it’s true – but I still agree that Birks and socks are horrible. I don’t really mind Birks themselves for a very casual summer look.
I feel the same about anti-cigarette or tattoo comments. Bored by them.
October 21, 2013 at 8:28 pm
What did you expect? Especially here. Lets face it, Sartorialist commenters are fairly predictable.
October 21, 2013 at 8:49 am
sailor on leave….
October 21, 2013 at 12:06 pm
She is a comfy mess.
October 21, 2013 at 12:41 pm
Ah, victim falling prey to fashion’s furious trends. I don’t mind socks and sandals. I don’t mind a quirky hat. I don’t even mind American Apparel (in great moderation!)… but all three! Geez, sorry… she went way overboard with this look.
October 21, 2013 at 3:39 pm
Hating Birks has become as trendy as the trend itself.
October 21, 2013 at 8:45 pm
I like the sign in the window… Sweatshop free clothing.
October 21, 2013 at 10:01 pm
Let’s leave the cliched Birks debate alone for a moment. #1 I would have worn tights, #2 the sailor hat plus the buster brown hair just takes this look way overboard. *Pun intended*
October 22, 2013 at 9:12 am
bircks and socks, just the way Garance likes it :)

sailor hat… different.
February 25, 2014 at 12:27 am
I think Birkenstock sandals look great on women, especially with socks. However, some black knee socks would have pushed her cuteness over the top.
