The light is always so perfect on your photos!

So pretty! Light gives the final touch!

Still in season… for one more day..
September 2, 2013 at 9:21 am
I don’t think even extreme youth is an excuse for this inappropriate wear. This should be confined to the shore.
September 3, 2013 at 3:17 am
She’s very sexy. And THAT’S the point. Agree. We cannot have sex appeal on display in this manner (though I’m guessing this particular example was just for the photo shoot?!)… then complain from appalling people behavior!
September 2, 2013 at 9:25 am
now…she is just stunning!

Its really amazing how you have created such a stark contrast between the light and dark part.Great picture!
September 2, 2013 at 9:46 am
I have to say that I LOVE the second photo. There is something so beautiful and eloquent when a woman isn’t caked up with make up. Her face adn skin look flawless. LOVE.

Beautiful shots of a beautiful girl.
September 2, 2013 at 10:17 am
I barely noticed the sunglasses, but nice bikini
September 2, 2013 at 11:04 am
Stunning girl – but odd choice of colour for her costume given her colouring. Some blue to pick up her beautiful eyes maybe?
September 2, 2013 at 11:30 am
I like the play between light and shadows. Great DOF. The green creates some great silhouetting space. Subject is not bad.

Both these photos are gorgeous. Love nature’s spot light!
September 2, 2013 at 12:02 pm
The use of shadow and light looks staged, it’s so beautiful !
I wonder if the models ask for a copy afterwards. I would !

I remember when I used to sunbathe in the parks in nyc in my bikini ! I have been living in Italy for 3 years and now the idea seems absurd to go to a public park in my bathing suit!
September 3, 2013 at 7:03 pm
It would be inapropriate in a public park in Australia too unless lots of other people were doing the same. Bikini-wearing and barring all is for the beach or in a more private venue. Lovely shots though.
September 6, 2013 at 1:44 pm
In germany people are butt naked in a park… i love that she can do that here…
September 2, 2013 at 1:14 pm
She looks nude, with that color of bathing suit. I can’t be in a public space like a park (where everyone is dressed) like that. Kudos.
September 2, 2013 at 1:19 pm
very cool. i love people taking advantage of the outdoors in the city :)
Gorgeous model-gorgeous pics!

Surely this is her underwear and not a bikini. Still if you have a body like this, why not flaunt it!!

I love the light on her white skin, perfect picture as usual :)

Feel free to be….
September 2, 2013 at 7:09 pm
Nice photograph. Love the fact that the focus is on her on the photograph.
September 2, 2013 at 7:24 pm
Such a lush and beautiful shot…
And, I thought the same at first about the bikini in the park, but I thought about it for a moment and changed my mind. This is a beautiful girl reveling in her youth. I’m glad she’s enjoying it and has the confidence to be herself in a public place. Perhaps if we truly and deeply … and fully reveled in our youthful beauty then we wouldn’t be so attached to it when the seasons of life change.
September 2, 2013 at 9:14 pm
Stunning, especially the second shot (light, expression, pose, etc.). Hadn’t heard of “The Gentlewoman” before. Have to check it out now.

September 2, 2013 at 11:03 pm
I would NOT wear that in Tompkins Square Park.
September 3, 2013 at 12:36 am
As beautiful as the photo is, I just have to ask, is this a random shot in the park or part of a promo for “the gentlewoman” magazine? The one she’s reading?
September 3, 2013 at 1:30 am
is she your friend or did you ask her to strike a pose?
she is stunning and I love your photos!!!!
September 3, 2013 at 2:13 am
This looks a bit gratuitous to me, Scott
September 3, 2013 at 2:41 am
Her reading material includes The Gentlewoman, which is a fine magazine.
September 6, 2013 at 11:51 pm
Gentlewoman is such a wonderfull and cool magazine. I wish it had more than just 2 issues per year – even 4 per year, as in one issue per season, would be great. Yes, good to see her reading it. :-)
September 3, 2013 at 3:52 am
Wow, the first photo looks like I’m reading VOGUE or something, congrats for the great shot!

Great picture as always! I only know people actually strip down to bikini for sunbath in a park! (I live in HK)
September 3, 2013 at 11:31 am
If possible, can you share with us what your focus is these days? At one point, I would’ve easily dubbed your site as a purely fashion/style site. However, the stuff you post these days is a strong departure from the content that you posted 2 yrs ago or so. More and more I feel like your shots are about capturing arbitrary subjects and the play/manipulation of light….photography for the sake of photography. As members of your visual audience it would be nice if we could have some insight on the creative/evolutionary journey that you are on. Is this still a site about “real” street style? Has the ubiquitous nature/presence of street style bloggers changed the way you view people/personal style or how you select subjects? Can you clue us in?
September 4, 2013 at 1:31 pm
I’ve also been wondering about the new direction of your blog–but on a different matter. Your photos are often more than simple acknowledgements of an individual’s style, serving instead as templates for deeper inquiries into an individual’s self-presentation. However, lately I’ve found myself wondering if the type of self-presentation you’ve shown us in many of your photos is coming from the same place (for example, in your photos from Bali). I would certainly be interested in your opinion of how these sets of photographs differ for you—and why you think ultimately they belong together.
September 3, 2013 at 12:17 pm
Sensuous image..grass..blanket..maybe a breeze on the skin..takes me back to my early youth enjoying the summer. The isolated-lighting series of late lending to this art genre would make a great book.
September 3, 2013 at 6:20 pm
LOL, you guys in the comments section who think this is inappropriate are kidding, right? When summer hits central Europe, are parks are full of topless people sunbathing. Because who in the world cares, that’s what a park is for. Be glad (or sorry) she kept the top on ;).
September 4, 2013 at 5:39 pm
I thought the same. They must be kidding.
September 3, 2013 at 8:23 pm
I can’t explain why…but this feels creepy..and desperate. Like I said, I can’t explain it.
September 3, 2013 at 8:47 pm
the photo is beautiful she is beautiful..that said…..of all parks….how did u approach her…it reminds me of when u took the photo of of a young girl in Morocco …which i found something u just don’t do..

looks perfect… found the situation out of casualty?
September 4, 2013 at 3:38 pm
Beautiful photographs. I don’t really like her bikini, but it is thought provocing why I think the nude schades work in some type of clothes and material and not so mch in others. In the first pic it looks almost like a laundry mishap. Can nude be too nude?
September 5, 2013 at 10:07 am
what book did she read?
September 5, 2013 at 1:30 pm
Unless this park is specifically a sun bathing location it’s a really narcisist picture, a trait I absolutely loath. The lighting and overall exposure of the picture is very nice as Scott’s photos typically are, I’m just distracted by this young women doing waaaay to much. However it’s becoming the way of the world these days and I hate it.
September 5, 2013 at 11:14 pm
I feel compelled to say lighten up folks! She’s relaxing, being herself and she has nothing to be as shamed of — besides, it’s none of our business!! It’s a beautiful girl, two beautiful shots and I’ve loved The Sartorialist for years and years, haven’t been disappointed yet. Positivity!! :) :)
September 6, 2013 at 9:49 pm
On the beach with a bunch of girlfriends, yes….But alone in Tompkins Square Park…a startling vision. Like seeing a fawn on the subway. Very vulnerable. I understand girls run around naked in European parks but in America it is not necessarily safe….and it has nothing to do with being puritanical.
October 21, 2013 at 6:21 pm
I love the image of the faun on the subway – it suits the photographs perfectly, right down to the dappled light and the colour (or lack thereof) of the girl. And I agree with the comment. There really is something almost too vulnerable about her there.
September 8, 2013 at 10:56 am
Beautitull pic, wonderfull girl. I want to mary her
September 11, 2013 at 3:33 pm
I love this because I remember in the 80′s when Tompkins
Sq Park was filled with dope dealers, thieves and tough homeless people.
She is in a bikini and sunning on a blanket there, haha! How life changes is so beautiful.
