Ooh these vintage shots are golden! I have a few Time-Life photography and photojournalism books and this looks like a shot straight out of one of the pages.

All I can see is the happiness of the child. How to build wonderful memories to treasure for ever.
Lovely paper parasols.

So nice, it shows an age. Costumes have changed, women don’t use more the umbrella to protect themselves from the sun.

All of the vintage shots you share are super! Many aspects of this that totally date it, though the cheer of spending an afternoon at the beach seems to transcend time. Love it!

I can visualize this photo as a black and white woodblock print – the fact that the subjects are not Japanese only makes it more intriguing!

did people sell asian umbrellas and hats outside touristy areas back in the day too?

I love this photo because it shows real human bodies. Your photos are striking, but they show such a narrow range of body types, and I don’t recall seeing fashionable clothing for differently-abled bodies. The women in this photo are lovely, and they’re a far cry from the stick figures more often featured in your photos.

I agree Stephen. I love Scott’s photos too but I long to see a more realistic range of age and body type. That would be truly revolutionary.

Anyway, it makes a nice picture.

Great vitage photos. It clearly show that you do not need the last camera for a good shot. All you need is inspiration.
