The location and light couldn’t be better to showcase her.

Loving the socks detail

Very sweet look ! love it !
August 13, 2013 at 12:09 pm
the socks show that she’s still a girl :)

Very nice summer look !
Summer vibe and Ibiza passion in my post today
Love her expression.
Not so in her socks. Great photo however.

My thoughts too. It is very different which isn’t bad…
August 8, 2013 at 9:35 am
I love the dress. It has that cool vintage look!
Oh My Beautiful Life
August 9, 2013 at 8:01 am
Yep, I think the same
August 8, 2013 at 9:39 am
Retro. She looks like she is from the 70′s. Like it.
August 8, 2013 at 9:43 am
What a beauty. Adorable dress. Wish I could pull off socks like that.
August 8, 2013 at 9:47 am
I love the image and how her head just grazes the top of the buildings bringing an interesting scale and strength to her. As a “look”, not my cup of tea… too bare for the street. However, I am certain that is what others will like about it.

How you find such interesting people, I’ll never know. It’s great
August 8, 2013 at 10:44 am
i have the same dress in cobalt blue from Free People! i always feel a lot of confidence in it. great shot!
August 8, 2013 at 10:46 am
Loooove the socks’ height -just below the knees- though they only work in straight legs like hers. Beautiful dress and colors, beautiful girl.
August 8, 2013 at 11:02 am
No seventies look. Lolita-lookalike.
August 8, 2013 at 11:03 am
Love the way she styles herself, cool.
August 8, 2013 at 11:22 am
Free People on this site. And anthro on Garance Dore. Its a lucky week for URBN.
Those slips are really cool !
August 8, 2013 at 11:36 am
Sporty Lolita, interesting look.

It’s a cute dress and I like her stance. I like the layout of the shot, too.
I like the socks and the detail on them – but not with this dress. Those socks would look awesome with a sleeveless black button down, tucked into black tailored shorts, then the white socks, with an Oxford shoe or something.

She looks like she put on an old wrinkled table cloth (you can call it “vintage” if you like) and forgot her underwear. Oh, yes, I did notice the black bra. Terrible.
I know that’s what a few of you who didn’t comment are thinking.
The photograph, as always, is good: well-lit, good composition, interesting subject etc.
August 15, 2013 at 9:15 pm
If someone actually skipped making a comment on the internet because it was too catty, I should be amazed.
August 8, 2013 at 12:35 pm
I’m wearing that same top today…except I didn’t forget my pants.
August 8, 2013 at 12:55 pm
Love the socks!!! The buttons make them very French.
Such a beautiful, elegant shot. Dramatic in its simplicity.
August 8, 2013 at 12:57 pm
I love the socks! Great look.
August 8, 2013 at 1:02 pm
Thought dress was Free People. And that look can only work on a girl with such thin, straight thighs and un-knobby knees. Love the look when the right girl wears it — and she is the right girl!
August 8, 2013 at 1:04 pm
Perfect outfit and she looks great.
August 8, 2013 at 1:05 pm
I’d like the dress if it were lined and you couldn’t see her underwear. I think that’s an unattractive look on anyone, but especially on a girl who looks like she’s just a young kid.
Of course, when I was her age I dressed just like this, so who am I to speak. But in retrospect, I would have wanted to look a bit classier.
August 8, 2013 at 1:09 pm
Adorable! I think I have the same socks :)

August 8, 2013 at 1:17 pm
Great look, but isn’t it too hot for high socks?
August 8, 2013 at 2:01 pm
Hmm, knee socks. Always a tricky look.
They remind me of Japanese schoolgirls.
August 8, 2013 at 2:08 pm
No on the knee socks. Doesn’t look good and can’t feel good in the heat.
August 8, 2013 at 2:15 pm
Can appreciate her look but it is definitely not a favorite. Love her expression, or lack thereof…
August 8, 2013 at 2:18 pm
This FP dress is everywhere. It looks beautiful on her.
August 8, 2013 at 2:20 pm
The socks make her look like a child. Otherwise, cute dress, cute girl.
August 8, 2013 at 4:04 pm
Is she Laia Rafel, from Barcelona, Catalonia?
August 8, 2013 at 4:49 pm
Love the dress!
August 8, 2013 at 6:17 pm
A walking, talking Belle & Sebastien song. You decide if that is a compliment or an insult…
August 8, 2013 at 9:07 pm
OMG, I know exactly where this park is, I usually go there to read a good book/article and wish I’d run into someone interesting enough to photograph. Leave it to Scott to beat me to it!! Haha, beautiful capture.

The dress is lovely, but I don’t like the socks, they “kill” the femininity of the frock.

August 9, 2013 at 2:13 pm
That’s the point, I’d say–the dress could easily skew cutesie-pootsie, but the socks, sneakers, and black bra–in combination with her stance–work in tension against it and make it interesting.
August 9, 2013 at 3:29 am
I love this one. She’s away in a daydream caused by the book and just stopped by the slightly voyeuristic photographer, who has brought the camera to frog perspective, to be sure, that the socks and short detail of the dress get to attention. She will be leaving with a short smile and later on maybe smile to herself, because that guy back really had a nerve…
Beautiful photo – it tells a story and leaves room for interpretation. So many questions and just basic answers, leaves the viewer in a fantasy created by the purity of that breathtaking split second, where everything ends and begins. The NOW.
August 9, 2013 at 9:24 am
Love the dress, hate the socks!
August 15, 2013 at 9:19 pm
Yes and No. I expected someone to think it sooner as I read through the comments. Most people would wear this exact outfit, but minus the socks, of course. I certainly would. But with her lush youthfulness( and I don’t mean just her age) and a kind of Lolita spirit that others have noticed, it makes a certain sense, no?

Cute and georgeous! Love it.
August 12, 2013 at 2:22 am
This dress is everywhere and seems to be quite a challenge to style. You can see she’s trying very hard but for me this is a miss. Pretty girl though.
August 12, 2013 at 11:55 pm
nice touch with the empire state building peeking through the haze…
August 15, 2013 at 3:17 pm
Adorable outfit. it suits her personality too, I can tell. i love the uneven hemmed dresses they are so feminine and flattering.
August 16, 2013 at 2:27 pm
One of my favorite shots! I really love the knee high socks.

this is the paradox: no one really wears knee socks anymore (there is an argument in Sept about whether anyone wears anything “ironically”), but this girl has an air of naivete, so no easy explanation for the socks…
