    I’ve played at both places, but definitely prefer The Shop. I would add, that D.C. might support a regular chess shop in the Dupont Circle area, lots of good games to be had there.

    I really want to get back into chess, an unusual place to discover style, although I probably shouldn't say that.

    In SF we have the same thing, but without walls and newspaper articles. It's in the downtown UN Plaza square where an egalitarian mix of the streetwise, homeless, and top brass financial execs can mingle and catch a game outdoors on a folding table and chairs set up 4 ft from Market St.
