    Great look.
    Giant scarf. Cool houndstooth cap.
    Jeans and $800 shoes.

    I’ve seen hundreds of post-intern
aged women pretending to do work at desks in the NY broadcast bidness who wear the
    Jeans-n’-Manolos uniform.

I would never say I dislike it.
    Much better than Nikes.
Nor would I ever take one of those girls seriously.

Somehow it gives a man permission to wear excellent shoes
no matter what else he’s wearing.

    Or maybe not.

    If he’s not serious.

    At least in New York.

its not a fresh look, and its slightly aggressive because its a woman using menswear and military uniform pieces. its too “hard”….question to otto: if you wouldnt “take one of those girls seriously”, what kind of woman would you take seriously?

“sweet and sinister” is one of my favorite looks.
This girl had the face of an angel which really softened the hard edges.

    Sorry for my unkind tone.

It’s not about the kind of woman
I take seriously, but what style
    says to me.

A critter dressed as a lamb is likely to graze. One dressed as a coyote is more likely to hunt.

    I like to see originality.
I like to see an expression of one’s unique beauty.
I like appropriate style for profession, position and age.

    A serious look says
“I’m here to enjoy doing excellent work. I have focus.”

“I’m here so I can wear fun things while I socialize with my friends in the office.”

I’m responding to anonymous and the subject of jeans and Manolos on the job, not so much to the
    “On the street” photo.

    Thanks, Sartorialist for your work.

Hot, hot, hot. I simply love to see women without socks in the winter time. It is the best!

I can think of alot of jobs ( stylists) that she can look like this and still be taken seriously (if not more so) because of how she looks.

Doubtless you are correct, Sartorialist. I was thinking of a specific office in a specific industry, and let my observations
    there color my opinions.

Her look, as I said at first is great, and certainly appropriate
for a stylist or other creative.

I like the jeans and hot heels look, but not when it’s a uniform.

Nice outfit, pretty girl, but the lighting and background of this shot are absolutely breathtaking.

This site is so funny…I always find photos of my friends/people i know…this is my friend (i won’t put her name)…we both go to Parsons (she goes for Photo, I go for Fashion) and so no she doesn’t have a desk job and she’s from the south pacific (thailand) and refuses to acknowledge that it is cold. Even in the dead of winter she can found pounding the pavement in strappy stillettos…

I love how the jeans fit her. And though I had to quit smoking for health reasons, I still love to see a woman on the street, in sunglasses, and with a cigarette (left-handed too).
