I generally don't like when older men wear their hair longer but he looks very distinguished. The sweater/jacket combo works!
March 25, 2010 at 6:28 pm
I like the coral handkerchief in his pocket. x
March 25, 2010 at 6:38 pm
Agree with me or not, in my opinion most fashionable men live in Italy!!!

Not quite a silver fox, but he's got style to spare.
March 25, 2010 at 7:17 pm
Love this portrait! The splash of color is perfect.
March 25, 2010 at 7:28 pm

the color of that sweater with that hair is terrific but the coral hankerchief takes it a step up.
March 26, 2010 at 6:38 am
I really like the harmony of colours: grey & blue ; and the pink spot in the form of the handkerchief: it livens up the look!
March 26, 2010 at 7:15 am
this handkerchief is so classy!!with a lot of expression,as all your portraits

I think he's a total fox. He looks kind and interesting and fun. It's not really about fashion, it's about a personal style developed over the years that is shown to perfection in this shot. Well done Scott. We don't need to see his shoes at all to get this.

the red handkerchief – thats it
March 26, 2010 at 10:32 am
He's a well-dressed, good-looking man, but the turtleneck is a little too high and tight. I know that older people often have double chins and other things on their necks that they wish to conceal, but there is a limit to how high a turtleneck can go.

Fantastic Mr. FOX
March 26, 2010 at 11:24 am
Endearing to have such a colorful, sweet hankie in the pocket of a rugged, classic man.
March 26, 2010 at 12:17 pm
He should be Zeus, or Odin or any one of several mythical characters! His persona is above his attire.
March 26, 2010 at 2:39 pm
is this a velvet blazer?
March 26, 2010 at 4:18 pm
Great look! He looks like an aging Hollywood screen star on his second wind!
March 26, 2010 at 4:31 pm
What a gorgeous gentleman, the shot conveys the feel of a beautiful persona. It is not about how high the necks should go: it's clear to me that Scott is after beauty, which goes beyond rules.

I'm Italian, currently living abroad, and all I can say it that I miss the elegance and the savoir-faire of Italian men. The Sartorialist is always here to remember me what I left behind.

I agree with meme, he looks like Pino Solanas. Actually, it was my first though when I saw the picture "What is a left wing pseudo intellectual controversial politician and former film director doing in a fashion blog?" Well, apparently he's having a lot of fun and many fans (!). Who would have thought…
