Spring is the absolute best time of year. The new, lighter fabrics. The colours. The mirage of more sunlight!
The shirtdresses are sexy, but can really be done in wrong with carelessness. Good footwear and wrist swag is important!
March 21, 2013 at 5:25 pm
couldn’t agree with you more.
March 21, 2013 at 7:08 pm
… me too!
Those dresses do nothing for your body.
But if you already have killer legs (& a belt!!!) you’ll look amazing.

March 21, 2013 at 8:25 pm
I agree! The first one is way too pajama-like and big and either needs to be a different size (like the 4th photo) or have a belt (like #2 & #3) to bring it under control. Other than that they are great!
March 21, 2013 at 8:35 pm
Exactly. Good thing that the pictures here show great silhouettes! I love it WITHOUT the belts. The belted ones are OK. But I think that the ones left to move with the body, and show the legs but not the waits are so much more chic.
LOVELY! I love the first and last one!!!
March 22, 2013 at 2:01 am
True. There is so much leg shown, that you don’t need to add to it, to make it more feminine or sexy. It should look careless and relaxed. The first one is extremely sexy. It’s really a statement.
March 22, 2013 at 2:32 pm
exactly my thoughts, it is everything you want in a fun flirty spring outfit: effortlessly sexy and comfortable all at once…Like it much and especially without the belts.
March 22, 2013 at 8:28 am
agree as well. They could easily render pajama impression + over sexy…and wondering if they are secure enough e.g. sitting down? :-)
the 3. look to me is still ‘proper’
March 21, 2013 at 4:04 pm
Thank God it´s already spring!! Can´t wait to wear summer clothing! LOVE ALL THESE LOOKS!
March 21, 2013 at 4:07 pm
It looks cool :)
March 21, 2013 at 4:09 pm
love 3 pics ! so chic :)
New Post on Purses in the Kitchen!
I loove it. In summer I wore it too. Is nice and comfy.
THE STEL STYLE
It’s a nice and fresh style for a summer time
March 21, 2013 at 4:10 pm
Good to have four examples so we can extrapolate principles — such as “It should look deliberate” (leopard heels) and not like you forgot your pants. (other three.)”
March 22, 2013 at 6:11 am
I have always thought shirt dresses look like the wearer “forgot their pants”!
In some of these examples though, not necessarily a bad thing! Xo Dani
March 22, 2013 at 7:08 am
Exactly. Unless you are VERY young (under 16), not a good look if people think you forgot to put on your pants. I don’t care how good your legs are!
March 22, 2013 at 9:20 am
Whenever I try to wear a shirtdress or oversized sweaterdress, everyone ALWAYS asks me if I forgot my pants or if I’m wearing shorts under. Doesn’t matter how deliberate it looks or what kind of belt or not. The price of living in small-town hippieville, I guess.

Spring, come quickly !!! It is hard to imagine wearing a shirtdress those days, but it is a nice idea! I love when it is a large man shirt like the fisrt and last photo.
March 21, 2013 at 4:18 pm
classy !!! perfect trend for spring :)
March 21, 2013 at 4:20 pm
i don’t know why, but this always looks indecent to me, even if they are pretty and look nice.
March 21, 2013 at 4:30 pm
Oh yes, these give me hope that the sun may shine one day soon! Love a good shirtdress.
March 21, 2013 at 4:31 pm
Where is it hot enough to do that? We’re certainly a long way away here!
Take a look at my latest illustrations and portraits!
March 21, 2013 at 4:39 pm
Love these!! So sexy!
March 21, 2013 at 4:41 pm
Gorgeous looks. I love seeing such masculine pieces on women with such feminine features.
March 21, 2013 at 4:42 pm
wow! hot!!! :)
March 21, 2013 at 4:52 pm
YES, spring was already ordered … but we are still somehow wearing fur coats also mental fur coats ;)
Left, top photo rocks !!!
Very best Regards,
March 21, 2013 at 4:58 pm
Love the shirtdress. The girl in the first pic with the stripped dress is super stylish. They all are… I have a silk one by Isabel Marant and I am inspired to wear it tomorrow :)
See you in my blog, maybe.
Aww I have white one. I love them, so comfy.
March 21, 2013 at 4:59 pm
They are perfect for summer!
March 21, 2013 at 5:01 pm
I love shirtdresses and these are great examples. I specially love the pink one with the black tie!!
March 21, 2013 at 5:17 pm
I think they forgot something to wear…
March 21, 2013 at 5:18 pm
Spring, spring, spring. We are waiting for her but ….. NYC is NYC
March 21, 2013 at 5:22 pm
love the looks, the shortness of the shirts makes them look so precarious though!
March 21, 2013 at 5:28 pm
These ladies are gorgeous and have nice legs. Love the shirt dress look.
March 21, 2013 at 5:29 pm

Gosh…it’s still looking like Christmas where I am:( I would love to see my legs soon:P
March 21, 2013 at 5:41 pm
really sexy especially with a boy’s shirt, oversized and comfy look
March 21, 2013 at 5:46 pm
I love these photos. And I love the warm weather.
Girl with the up-swept hair, army green shirt dress, and lizard shoes has it going on. Sexy, fresh, and powerful!!! How can one go wrong with her look? Impossible!!!
March 21, 2013 at 5:50 pm
I’m always thinking about legs.
March 21, 2013 at 5:52 pm
Ah, I live in shirt dresses, can’t get enough of them! The khaki dress above is my fave, best silhouette, colour, and they way she knotted the belt is just fab!
March 21, 2013 at 6:03 pm
Absolutely and desperately… Longing for spring… They’re all wonderful but the last one (blue) is just gorgeous.
March 21, 2013 at 6:09 pm
The girl in dark kaki (0r brown ?) is soooo beautiful ! Love shirt dresses !
I’m sorry, but they all look like they forgot to put on their pants.
March 21, 2013 at 6:11 pm
The girl in dark kaki is gorgeous ! Love shirt dresses !

March 21, 2013 at 6:13 pm
Amazing photos! I love this blog, it’s my inspiration and the real bible!
Gosh, am I the only one? This is so not ok in my book, unless you are literally at a beach. I’m sorry, it just looks like they forgot half their clothes! And I swear I’m not usually conservative or prudish in any way, but this is actually kind of nuts to me!

March 21, 2013 at 6:16 pm
There’s nothing sexier to me than wearing your boyfriend’s shirt. It’s easy like sunday morning ;)
March 21, 2013 at 6:19 pm
I remember seeing the photo of a lady in a pink shirtdress for the first time on your blog. It reminded me of one of the episodes of SATC in which Carrie wore Big’s shirt after their unplanned swimming session in the pond. So sexy.
March 21, 2013 at 6:22 pm
FRESH, SHORT, SEXY AND NAUGHTY!!! Love the colours, the sandals, the pretty belts and the naked legs asking for some warmth!! Good shots!!
March 21, 2013 at 6:25 pm
The kaki one is my favourite too ! But needs great legs…
Such an easy, carefree, but totally chic way of dressing. So perfect for the warmer months! And a great example that less is often more :)

I wanna be in traffic just ’cause they can stop it!
March 21, 2013 at 6:56 pm
I love shirtdresses, especially when it’s warm, but what’s up with the pink one? A little hoochie…where would one actually wear that?
March 21, 2013 at 6:59 pm
WOW, love this look! They all look great! My dad has a shirt just like the one on the top left! I’m going to ask him if I could borrow it and wear it this spring/summer! I could already think of the blog post! Great idea, thanks Mr. Schuman!
March 21, 2013 at 7:01 pm
Ciao Bella LEGS !!!
I love shirt dresses, they’re just the comfiest, shame it’s so cold here!!
March 21, 2013 at 7:09 pm
Desperately seeking a denim/chambray mini!
Always reminds me of Carrie on her way home from Mr. Big, when she fell into the water and got a shirt & a belt from him but is still wearing her Manolos…
March 21, 2013 at 7:20 pm
especially like the look of the btm left pic.. and the tags says it all:
if you are thinking about…. legs
March 21, 2013 at 7:22 pm
Can’t wait until we have sun, love those pics!
March 21, 2013 at 7:46 pm
Best with flat sandals not heels!

if tomorrow I wear a mini shirtdress with heels (tacco 12) for the city of Rome and i take a walk for its beautiful streets ,as via condotti , some men would suspect what’s my job!!!. Love the first pic and style.
March 21, 2013 at 8:07 pm

March 21, 2013 at 8:16 pm
The girl in the last pic looks like the Opening Ceremony website model.
Oh God! Love this style! Really effortless!
Which me will I be Today
March 21, 2013 at 9:32 pm
Shirt dresses are sexy because they are a tad revealing and have that undressed feel but they are wonderfully understated and fresh for Spring.
March 21, 2013 at 10:11 pm
I’m happy that the three women wearing just shirts (not shirtdresses) are happy but I’ve seen a lot of it in my warm-climate city and over-disclosure is very easy and not what I want catching my eye!
March 21, 2013 at 10:17 pm
i don’t think there’s a single person in new york who doesn’t have spring on the brain right now. that second shirtdress is beautiful. love the color and the cut outs.
March 21, 2013 at 10:23 pm
Something very sexy in my eyes, this pink the most and I ususaly hate pink…
March 21, 2013 at 10:54 pm
The lady in the navy blue shirt (bottom right) wears it best, in my opinion. And she looks like she just raided her significant other’s closet for that shirt.

Perfect for summer!
March 22, 2013 at 1:50 am
I’m a huge shirt dress fan. It’s a fashionable excuse not to dress up but still look half decent.
March 22, 2013 at 2:27 am
Love shirt dresses! Its so Carrie Bradshaw from sex and the City, especially the second look!
March 22, 2013 at 2:42 am
Absolutely, spring is the best time for having fun while wearing shirtdresses. Loved the pink one!
March 22, 2013 at 3:02 am
I love this idea and I am planning to do a shooting with a shirt dress look soon.

March 22, 2013 at 4:31 am
I only like the third outfit, because it actually looks like a dress. The first one is beautiful but, for me, it looks like she forgot to wear a bottom piece. The pink one… how can she sit without showing too much?
March 22, 2013 at 4:55 am
beautiful outfits :)
love your blog !!!
March 22, 2013 at 5:09 am
THE perfect look during summer, love this!! xx

It’s interesting to see one trend twice in an incarnation. I mean ’80ies… again. :)) And it was like yesterday we watched Le boum (the Party).
March 22, 2013 at 7:54 am
I like that look!
March 22, 2013 at 8:12 am
These spring looks are amazing! Colors, fabrics, high heels and blue sky- what else can bit this combination ?;)
March 22, 2013 at 8:19 am
Call me old fashioned, but they all look a bit half dressed to me..
Isa tout simplement ...
March 22, 2013 at 8:23 am
The first one is gorgeous !
March 22, 2013 at 8:25 am
Personally, Spring fashion is up there with Autumn.
It can vary so much depending on the perspective you have either on the weather or time.
As for these looks, I think it’s very sexy… Maybe a little too sexy… Or is there no such a thing?
The brown look is very flattering if you’re worried about not being able to show if your figure. But there’s something so cool about just the fact that you’re waiting a big shirt. Kind of intimate!
March 22, 2013 at 8:55 am
This look is for beach or poolside ONLY. Not suitable for street wear, period. They look really stupid, IMO.
March 22, 2013 at 9:37 am
They aren’t shirt dresses. They are just shirts.
March 22, 2013 at 9:52 pm
March 22, 2013 at 9:48 am
Love the oversized look. The first one is great !
March 22, 2013 at 10:10 am
love how effortless this style is!
March 22, 2013 at 10:11 am
Hey! That’s my shirt!
March 22, 2013 at 10:20 am
looks great on all sizes!
could you post some dots? :-)
March 22, 2013 at 10:29 am
These are not shirt-dresses. They are just shirts. You have to be under 35 to wear this, let’s face it — and that may be too old.
fashionable and Fab after 60
March 22, 2013 at 10:54 am
I ALMOST tossed a couple shirts like this … what was I thinking?
March 22, 2013 at 11:34 am
The bottom two are perfect, I like how one paired it with heels and the other sandals, and I think both looks great. Not sure about the top right though. I think to carry this off well you really must find the perfect length for the dress shirt. Too short and its a complete disaster!
March 22, 2013 at 12:50 pm
My sisters did these in the 1970′s with Dior men’s night shirts- cut like a
man’s long oxford cloth shirt, they belted them and looked fabulous
March 22, 2013 at 1:31 pm
Where can I find those shoes on the lady in pink?
March 22, 2013 at 1:39 pm
gorgeous. love the top right, with the tie
kw ladies in navy
March 22, 2013 at 1:54 pm
Belted it looks good (especially the brown) but unbelted and that short – looks one puff of wind away from embarassment.
March 22, 2013 at 2:18 pm
I know exactly what you mean, jessilee ;) too provocative for small towns, but I still love it.. especially #2 and 3 stroke me and look really sexy and good for spring ( which is not yet here in Germany)
March 22, 2013 at 4:02 pm
OOh I love the first picture! So breezy and cool for a summer day! Well, I wish that arrives soon here in Brussels so I get to wear one like that! But when!? sigh.
March 22, 2013 at 4:19 pm
March 22, 2013 at 5:56 pm
Absolutely love those shirtdresses. I have wear them for every summer, and they are suiting with both high heels and ballerinas! I will wear it also this summer, only it should come quicker!
March 22, 2013 at 8:08 pm
Ah! The walk of shame look!
March 22, 2013 at 8:22 pm
Shirt dresses are usually great for petites.
March 23, 2013 at 5:49 am
You just gotta wonder what happens when there’s a sudden updraft of air….especially photo #1.
March 23, 2013 at 8:43 am
that’s exactly the reason why i’ve been waiting for Spring! x
March 23, 2013 at 5:32 pm
I really need spring now! The girls all look beautiful
March 24, 2013 at 8:37 am
i think both looks(belted and unbelted) are chic. great legs and killer shoes with an effortless attitude is all thats needed
March 24, 2013 at 4:42 pm
I love those shirtdresses.
March 25, 2013 at 10:31 am
Oversized shirt is not the same as shirtdress
March 25, 2013 at 12:52 pm
That pink dress is pretty! So is the lady.
March 25, 2013 at 1:54 pm
Shirtdresses are a comfy option, but for me they always seem very incomplete, like the pink one in the pic. It seems all over the place, and for people like me who love clean cuts and structure, it’s plain bad! However, navy blue girl with her gorgeous hair looks nice and chirpy!!
March 25, 2013 at 6:31 pm
The lady in the bottom left corner pulls this look off best to me. With what is essentially supposed to be a casual style, it’s important that you don’t look like you’re trying too hard. Plus the belt is key and the proportions of the shirt are such that she doesn’t lose her shape. Not an easy look to pull off but she does a wonderful job of it.
March 28, 2013 at 7:16 am
Shirt dresses, whether worn loose or belted are definitely one of the sexiest styles around..
April 1, 2013 at 1:31 pm
Number four is hot.
April 4, 2013 at 5:59 pm
Love all the shirt dresses !!!!
April 5, 2013 at 2:27 pm
