I love these old photographs, they make me feel incredibly nostalgicHolly x
I am in love with vintage photos, I was lucky to inherit a large box of vintage photos from around the world via 50's and everyone of them I cherish beyond words.. I have restored most of them as well. These have such personality. Love them! Love history!

I like them so much. In the first photo, the man on the right side is similar to the young Leonardo DiCaprio. :]

Adore these vintage photos you've posted in the last days…I guess memories are the only thing close to immortality…
March 28, 2010 at 4:32 pm
All of these photos are wonderful! But I have to say I have a soft spot for the 'Aussie LarrikIns" I knew they were Australian before I read it – the tilt of the hats and the cheeky look in their eyes! I love this photo.

wow, these photos are beautiful. what amazing stories behind them as well. just finished watching valkyrie and had me thinking about how incredible it is that people who are still alive actually lived through WWII and that monumental experience… having to wait until the end of the war to get married etc. what an incredible time. thanks for sharing these! xx

The first photo especially looks like something you could find on the pages of this blog today!

Grandpa could be a male model in a current GQ edition!
Those gorgeous features and shining, coiffed hair. The ability to wear a turtleneck/blazer without looking like a turtle, the whole thing.
I don't blame that woman off to the side for staring.
March 30, 2010 at 3:31 pm
Such a great image. It would be worth restoring.
March 31, 2010 at 1:02 pm

These pictures are really amazing. Your grandfather carries great style. Style certainly runs in your family! It's so interesting to read about your photographies, the history behind them, and I really admire your work. I'm stunned!
Best wishes, Camilla

I love the blokes in the cocked hats! I have to agree, you can tell they are Australian by the twinkle in their eyes!
April 9, 2010 at 10:51 pm
wow, the guy on the top pic is something to look at.
May 11, 2010 at 12:13 am
Great pictures – thanks for sharing! I find it particularly interesting that all men, not just your grandfather are wearing their vests buttoned all the way down. Today often times the vests are cut in a way so the bottom button cannot be fastened anymore…

The top photo actually made me teary eyed because after reading the story and i scrolled back up it meant something totally different than at first glance.
ps goodlooking men :)
