Funny you should mention it, bangs have been seriously on my mind lately! First as I debated whether or not to take the plunge and look at some inspiration photos:
And now that I’ve done it, I’m still trying to figure out the best way to wear them – long and straight down, a little bit parted in front, swept to the side… Actually much more versatile than I’d thought! And always good to see more good examples!
First and third girl can make you write love poems that have never been written before…So much inspiring and heavenly beauties !!! http://www.ottomandandy.com
I have had bangs all my life. Straight hair , bangs, at least I don’t still have the braids my mother sent me out with each day .. I looked like Patty McCormack !
Now I have bangs but long in my eyes bangs.. it is not easy carrying off the really short ones.
There really should be a term for this look, that is, faux fur and costume jewelry worn in a downtown/offbeat way by a younger woman. It is oddly provocative. Thoughts?
I don’t usually like a short fringe, which is British for bangs – why do you call them ‘bangs’ btw, I’ve always been curious – but she makes it such a finely elegant style.
“Bangs” comes from England as well–from “bang tail,” the practice of cutting a horse’s tail straight across when extended. You see that especially with race horses. Some say it’s just because it ends abruptly–like the sounds do in a “bang!” But you can cut hair if you pound it with a hammer over a sharp metal edge on a heavy piece of metal. And blacksmiths did that for horses after they shoed them, so I think that is the real origin of the term. Of course, young ladies never had their hair pounded on an anvil. But if it’s cut straight across with scissors in the right way, it could have been.
I just spent two years growing out my bangs. And now I’m tired of my hair hanging in my face. You have me reconsidering. This lady looks SO pretty! What to do?
Hip ladies have been rocking short bangs/fringe for as long as I’ve been infatuated with them. This person pictured is a reminder of who’s out there! Beautiful style, skin, and confident eyes get me every time.
Not many people really look good in short fringe but lady #1 would be stunning even if she was wearing a mop on her head. Love her strong brow and lip! I think the longer bang is more wearable. It’s nice that you can try the clip-on ones before committing to the shears!
Why yes, I am thinking about bangs lately. Short bangs – to be precise. I love the first lady’s look, but I wonder what face shape you have to have to pull that off. XOXO
I just got bangs a couple of weeks ago and everyone loves my do style. They say I look younger. Well, the reason I got them was because I needed Botox on my forehead but didn’t want to spend the money now, so I figured I would hide the lines with bangs, and I love the result.
This model looks good with the short short bangs, but it certainly isn’t a look for everyone.
Love bangs (or fringes as we call them in Oz) on the right face. I envy them as I’ve got wavy/curly hair and it never works for me… Also I love the format of this If You’re Thinking About… being able to click through to each picture individually. I do like the collage too for a compare overview too…just saying. Thanks Scott!

I know they are making a huge comeback but most times it just makes you look like a communist 8 year old girl from the 80′s. At least hair grows.

This has me reaching for the scissors… I only ever cut my own ‘bangs’ anyway, the last time I paid money to have it done was a disaster!
Great inspiration there, and a lesson in elegance from all of them I think!
