I love the idea of your coat collar being able to double as a neck muffler! In the last photo, I wish his neck was completely covered so he wouldn’t get chilly in that one spot.
The coat in the top photo doesn’t actually have a face-framing collar—it’s just an upturned normal collar. Not impressed with this “fashion” assessment.
The top one looks amazing. I never would have thought of it. I HATE scarves, especially in winter for some reason. They are uncomfortable. But I am female. I may try to do something of the sort.

& Agreed on the coat collar, its very minimalist, but yet does the trick, and looks sharp…that is however, If its the right type of coat.
