Can I get an amen!
February 13, 2013 at 4:04 pm
extremely fashionable…and sexy!
I’ve worn glasses for a few decades. I’m ready for the dark black trend to be over. They’re not horrible; I’d just like more choices.
February 14, 2013 at 8:26 am
Why do you need the trend to be over to make the move? What about following your heart and what you love and not trends? ;-)
February 14, 2013 at 5:19 pm
I agree. I’ve never had a dark pair of glasses. My first were electric blue and cat eye, and my current ones are purple with rhinestones around the edges. I get compliments because they are so different!
February 16, 2013 at 4:41 pm
Agree. I rarely follow trends. If you buy quality and keep it long enough it comes around again, even better.

All look great and I wore glasses too. Have a nice day.
It’s all about top right for me.
February 13, 2013 at 4:33 pm
I’m a member of the Girls in glasses club, and very proud about it.
My glasses are definitly a part of my style, and I can’t live without them (really nearsighted).
And they are some of my precioust accessory. I’ve got several pairs and also sunglasses (pilot Ray Ban and Persol are the best ones).
But glasses, when they are not the good ones for somebody, can be dangerously ridiculous !
You can see immediatly if someone is stylish or not just watching his glasses.
Your girls in glasses are really beautiful.
February 14, 2013 at 11:55 am
I’m a member also since age 6. I always felt goofy in my g;lasses most of my teen years but now that glasses are trendy again the options for frame styles has increased. Im a big fan of tortoise shell they match with everything and aren’ t to harsh on the face.
February 13, 2013 at 4:34 pm
Smart girls are gorgeous too :) Check out the Ruffian show for girls in glasses too!
February 13, 2013 at 4:40 pm

I love girls with glasses, especially those with that nerdy look. Even the less pretty girls get better with a nice pair of glasses …
February 13, 2013 at 4:57 pm
Always find girls with glasses very attractive, presuming they are wearing the right style of glasses of course.
February 13, 2013 at 4:58 pm
Actually yes I have been! I want glasses so badly! Unfortunately (or fortunately) I have perfect vision. I am thinking of getting just some frames however! So smart chic!
February 13, 2013 at 4:59 pm
bottom left corner: I love this pic, I presume it’s older than the others but it still so contemporary.
Fantastic selection! They all look poised and modern, yet classically feminine.
I think my favorite is the first one…I think it’s the way in which you captured her mid-walk….beautiful!
I’m always thinking about girls in glasses.
February 13, 2013 at 5:00 pm
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE ALL OF THEM!
Sí al sí quiero
February 13, 2013 at 5:05 pm
I hope this will be the subject of a next book from you!
February 13, 2013 at 5:17 pm
They’re all so pretty, nice post!
February 13, 2013 at 5:20 pm
Sometimes I feel very hidden behind my glasses; turtle-like and shy. I need them to see, but it makes my self-esteem fall. I am short and I feel the glasses almost make me shorter because my eyes have shields in front of them. This post made me smile and realize, gosh I am feeling such silly thoughts because these women look fabulous. Look at the first picture, especially. Those proportions in her clothing! The glasses are woven into her look, not a heavy mechanism balancing upon her nose. Thank you for this post.
February 13, 2013 at 5:24 pm
It’s a little paradoxical to me how glasses used to be worn in a “serious” fashion, but now they have become a fashion accessory.
Anyway, whatever…girls in glasses are hot!….but some of the bigger statement styles can tend to overwhelm the face.
February 14, 2013 at 10:34 am
Si El presidente, GIGs are hot – but nice and geeky and not too big.
February 13, 2013 at 5:30 pm
I am a girl with glasses and photos like these are exactly what I need to look at from time to time… To remind me glasses really can be cool!
February 13, 2013 at 5:31 pm

A woman in a cool pair of glasses is classic.

February 13, 2013 at 5:52 pm
Love that you featured glasses .. on women! Thank you – I feel emboldened to skip the contacts more!
February 13, 2013 at 6:02 pm
The lady in picture number 1 is simply breathtaking; love the silhouette of her jacket and skirt, very feminine.
February 14, 2013 at 3:15 am
I’ve recently bought my first glasses and they’re like number one’s, but….unfortunately I dont’ have her style!!

February 13, 2013 at 7:08 pm
I’ve been a girl in (part time) glasses for decades!
February 13, 2013 at 7:20 pm
How about some sex goddesses? These girls are rocking the nerd look.
February 13, 2013 at 7:43 pm
Love love love this collage!!! Girls look so sexy in glasses!
February 13, 2013 at 8:07 pm
I too wear glasses, for quirky styles I love Alain Mikli and for sheer coolness in style and colour Claire Goldsmith legacy. The pair in the first pic look similar to mine which I love CG legacy Lowe in grey and cotton candy.
February 13, 2013 at 8:31 pm
I’ve always loved ‘librarian chic’, so these are right up my alley :)
February 13, 2013 at 9:07 pm
I stopped wearing my contacts a few years ago & wear my glasses everyday now. I think that when I wear my glasses, the “right” kind of guy will check me out & the fake shallow guys won’t fancy me, which suits me fine.
If anyone from Tom Ford is reading this can you please tell Mr. Ford to make his sexy cat eye glasses in burgundy/plum tortoiseshell, the black and brown is too boring. While I’m at it….Could someone at Warby Parker please convince them to sell oversized cat eye glasses? Every single pair they sell is some version of a wayfarer style….great website, yet completely boring glasses.
February 14, 2013 at 12:17 pm
I don’t think glasses as the “shallow guy” filter will hold out much longer though, it seems like they are becoming a bit fetishized now even.
February 13, 2013 at 10:03 pm
the bottom left shot is one of my all time favorites, of yours….. from not too long after i first discovered the blog. thanks for the little flashback!

Thank you for posting these, though I wish we could the lovely ladies and their glasses up close. I really want to scrutinize the look. Because of my super high prescription, I’ve had to get glasses only every four or five years. I HAD to get a new pair this year and was really leaning toward the THICK BLACK chunky look. I was looking everywhere for inspiration, and they were everywhere…thick, chunky, square, race goggles. Yeah! But then, I had to fly to Denmark to give papers, and I needed the glasses NOW and for them not to cost a million dollars. So an angel named “Lucy” happened to have EPOS (yes, Epos) in stock, online, but there was a catch…they were NOT BLACK. and they were NOT CHUNKY or SQUARE but SLIM and ROUND, a little like the picture of the lady in the bottom left corner. What to do? I was scared! I’d never bought glasses that I’d never tried on before. And I’d never thought I’d go back to the eighties/round owl-type glasses again. But I knew Epos was a good brand, and because these were in stock and did not need to be special ordered, she was offering a steep discount and I could have them before my trip. Do I dare take a fashion risk? I did. The glasses arrived a mere hour before we left for the airport, and we had them adjusted abroad. (They were in pristine condition, by the way.) So, I went from tiny horizontal black square frames to big dark brown round frames. It was a dramatic change. But it was totally worth it. No one knew me abroad, so I could afford to be totally playful. But sometimes I still pine for what I can only describe as thick black “racing goggles”…but is that trend really over? I really want to know! Have I missed my chance? Or can one have more than one pair of glasses? I mean, I can’t really “afford” them per se…but fashion wise, if money were no object, can one switch out different pairs, or would that be considered vanity? How does one treat a pair of glasses, especially if you NEED them to see and they are not really an “accessory”…? Do you just get the best pair possible at the time and move forward? I would really love to know people’s opinion on the glasses trend…If I know I the next time I will get glasses will probably be at the soonest three years from now, what do you think the style might be then? Anybody care to make a bold prediction? Thanks!
February 14, 2013 at 7:01 am
Try eyebobs.com for cheaper alternatives. I think Warby Parker offers reasonably priced glasses but the styles are all very similar. I also want to try putting a lens in sunglasses if that’s possible.
You can also try glasses on at a store then order on ebay or amazon for much cheaper. My Prada glasses were hundreds of dollars more at the local lenscrafters so I wrote down the style number & bought them on ebay.
When I was in Buenos Aires in the flea market in San Telmo they had lots of stalls selling really great vintage glasses. I think abroad you can find unique styles that aren’t available here.
February 14, 2013 at 11:08 am
Thanks Deborah! I will try your suggestions.
A note to Warby Parker fans. I love Warby Parker and their philosophy. My husband has a pair. But beware, they are NOT for people with super super high prescriptions. I thought I would be able to get the frame of my dreams with them, but when I started to read my prescription, they just said, “Sorry, too high…” I think getting frames in another country is a great idea!
I have not tried putting regular lenses in sunglasses…very tempting since sunglasses tend to be funkier… but I did buy Versace sunglasses back in 1998 or 1999 at “Off 5th” at 75% off and had them filled with prescription lenses and they have held up very well. These are my only pair of sunglasses. I still get plenty of compliments. I was shocked however, when someone called them “vintage” Versace.
But I am very curious what people think the next trend will be in eye wear in the next three years….
February 14, 2013 at 9:13 pm
So true! For those of us with really high prescriptions, the choices are quite narrow.
February 17, 2013 at 3:11 am
I’ve been wearing glasses all my life. The best will always be the cats-eye frame for me. And I’ll get another extra pair whenever I have the money. My lenses need to be custom made, since my estig is quite high on both eyes. So getting the right pair is essential every time I need to get a new pair. Right now mine looks like the one in picture top-left.

Thanks for this post! I wear glasses, I love them and I think they are fantastic! Lots of people tell me that I look better without them and that I should wear contacts, but I love them, they are my favourite accessory and I feel safe behind them… partly because without them I can’t see a thing! ;)
They are my personal touch in every outfit. I even got married with them!
February 14, 2013 at 6:07 am
I love this! Girls with glasses are definitely hot! I especially love the last photo. I’ve been using contact lenses for over 10 years now. I think maybe it’s time to switch to this new look.

I think all ladies look great in glasses. You just have to know which glasses are the right fit!
My most popular post and tips are “Bangs with glasses”! Check it out :)
February 14, 2013 at 7:31 am
I say yes to girls in glasses. As I wear them part time (although I should wear them full time), finding the right frame is always a challenge.
I don’t want to be too obvious (too trendy) so I go with the flow of the moment but in a more discret way. I just got a pair of Armani black (only color available) and I love them. They give my mature face caractere. Think Renata Molho beautifully photographed by the Sartorialist through the years.
February 14, 2013 at 9:41 am
Girls in glasses look so chic! I would wear mine everyday if my eyes weren’t reduced to the size of peas in them!
February 16, 2013 at 2:20 pm
Yes! Make a post called girls with really, really high prescriptions wearing glasses. The higher the Rx the more it distorts the eyes and temples which can make the wearer self conscious. My eyes look like pebbles in my glasses. I finally got trendy tortoise shell glasses because I never had fashionable ones before. I like that glasses are cool now because it helps for the people that actually need them.

Preach!! I’m really, really, REALLY nearsighted, so I have the same problem–my eyes look much smaller and the sides of my face look like they’re dented in behind the lenses. Not a good look. I’m sticking with my contacts, thanks. At least my reading glasses (worn over contacts when needed) can have cool frames and look sharp!
February 14, 2013 at 10:57 am
I am a girl with glasses…I loev this post!!!!!
February 14, 2013 at 11:37 am
Love the nerd glasses tho just bought a pair of blush colored for a more delicate look. from Fetch who donates all proceeds to animal home finding charity.
February 14, 2013 at 12:19 pm
I’ve recently been relying on my glasses as a substitute for eye makeup.. because I can’t wear eye makeup until an eye problem heals completely. Glamorous I know.
February 14, 2013 at 12:31 pm
I just put on my black frame glasses…I am a fan of this look!!

Does anyone know, where I can find it?:]

Love this! The only thing is that I’m sooo nearsighted that I can’t wear those big trendy glasses without making myself dizzy & getting my eyesights worse (if that’s possible)….it’s got to be square or oval right around my eyes….I wish I can have more choices :(

I’m always thinking about women in glasses–especially if they’re well dressed (like the lady in the fourth image) and brilliant.

Girls always look elegant when they wear sunglasses or eyeglasses. But it is important for them that they should know which type of eyeglasses should they wear before they go out. I am sure you are getting my point!
March 28, 2013 at 2:34 am
Waiting for a “guys with glasses” post! hahah. Also, the brand “warby parker” has the most stylish glasses if anyone is looking for some!
