I wish you would post my question–I’d love to get Richard’s input.

For me, his response contains both expected and unexpected elements – but either way, it provides great insight into his design mentality. Thank you for asking the question for me! :)

Sounds like something Jil Sander would say . . . simple and timeless . . . yet on closer inspection . . .

What a combination of talent and looks. Geesh.
Please pardon but, could you provide for those of us who are struggling with it, the correct phonetic pronunciation of his name?

It should be Ch-aye (As in Aye aye, captain!), right?

it is richard chai. richard chai (chy) (rhymes with shy)i have seen him on the street beforethe next time, i am totally getting the digits
something to think about:
if he did a menswear line…how would you guys imagine it to be? based on what we know that he does for women
now that…is a good question to ask him sartorialist.

i am korean, and his last name should sound more like chu-e(without a pause in between, as one syllable). it’s the last name that is commonly spelled ‘choi’.
it’s great to see some young designers of korean heritage out there, like doori and richard chai, doing great in major fashion scenes. they are inspiration for aspiring fashion designers in korea..

As a fan of his work, no New York designer has a style like his. The cut of his cloths are amazing and the pieces are like couture. I can’t wait for his fall collection to hit the stores!! Talk about YUMMY!!!

The long sleeve button-down shirt worn inside the rolled up dress shirt looks almost like how men wore their shirts when they only had union suits.
