I generally like the longer fit duffle coats on men and women, although i cant quite decide on that one in the bottom left. It does make him look like a man, broad shoulders and all, but seems just a bit oversized for his frame.
January 29, 2013 at 5:33 pm
Totally disagree. The Duffle Coat is a fairly larger coat inherently. It allows for layering. It is like arguing against a winter boot for being too chunky. The man is fairly slim and has on decent shoes for the coat. Overall, it all works.

i used to share a green one w/ my brother when i was a kid: we love it! :)

NO. Thats how they fit. They are short and roomy. I really don’t know what kind you have seen, but you are not talking about the classic duffle coat if you like them fitted and long. This is how they should fit.
intemporel et classe.

J’adoreeee les Duffle ciats ;)
January 29, 2013 at 4:12 pm
Cute!! Love them!
There was a competition for the item you bought but never wore a while back, but I don’t find those of my clothes as memorable as the clothes I used to wear but lost somehow. This post reminds me of the perfect duffle coat that was once mine: navy blue with black toggle closures.
I was so sad when I left it at a party, and the restaurant did not have it the next day! I still believe that whoever took it must have found the coat as irresistable as I did.
The photographer’s coat on the bottom center is my favorite here. Love the pop of orange with the understated blue and khaki.

Just goes to show that a classic duffle will always be 100% wearable.
January 29, 2013 at 4:58 pm
I love Duffle Coats for my whole life. I wore them as a little child, as a teenager and now, as a woman. They suit men and woman at the same time and never will get oldfashioned.

hi do u still got a duffle coat
January 29, 2013 at 5:15 pm
The third picture is absolutely brilliant. I’m running to the store right now to buy yellow socks.
LOVE duffle coats – specially in the second picture. The collar, and the fact that it’s short and broad, gives it an edge.
I really like the “If you’re thinking about..” posts, however I was wondering if it was possible to see the pictures individually. For the ones already posted we can find them – but is there a way to see the new ones individually?
I’ve bought a Duffle-Coat in marine two years ago and I definetly love it. They are classy enough for nearly every occasion and many years, stylish and very warm!

You can order them from Gloverall.com that’s the original maker of the coat. They do collaborate with other designers such as jcrew Ralph Lauren and burberry. Every year a new style comes out. I have Six duffle coats. I keep 2 in England just in case I vacation in London in the cold. Four in Chicago 2 blue long and short style. 1 beige for CSO. 1 Burberry for special occasions. Hope that helps.

January 29, 2013 at 7:59 pm
It’s funny how I hated wearing them as a kid when my parents made me, and now I just love them!
January 29, 2013 at 9:00 pm
Hi- when you take photos of people, do you ask them to roll up their pants, so we can see their socks? Maybe I don’t live in the right place, but I never, ever see peoples’ socks in public unless they are wearing shorts or a skirt.

Is the camera the lady is using a Leica?

Love the second outfit!!

In Poland we call it “budrysówka” ;-) It is not popular type of coat, hard to find it in any stores. Mine is beautiful, red & black details, from Esprit’s collection about 5 years ago. Love it!
January 30, 2013 at 6:54 am
I like all kinds of duffle coats, long and short. They’re roomy, comfortable and versatile.
January 30, 2013 at 7:18 am
Too bad the weather in Singapore never allows a good duffle coat…
January 30, 2013 at 7:56 am
Love it! I’ve got something quite similar.
January 30, 2013 at 9:07 am
Love the top right pic. Colour of the coat is great and the pants/sock/shoe combination is awesome!

I love duffle coat:)
my uncle gave me a old duffle coat few years ago and I thought
that the Duffle coat is old fashioned. but I was really super wrong.
Duffle coats are really comfortable and cool.
I think I have to buy some duffles :)
January 30, 2013 at 10:19 am
Used to have a light brown one as a child and therefore very much like top right and bottom middle ( mine was nowhere near as nice as these and quite heavy and coarse as I remember ). Hermes did one recently in their signature orange which although was a bit in your face, was pretty cool and would be great with a navy suit and old brown shoes – but was sadly out of my budget!
barbara - fashionable and fabulous after 60

Wow! These look so chic and warm! I want one but wouldn’t know when to wear it in Bombay, so hot all the time.
January 31, 2013 at 5:29 am
Dammit, I just gave my navy blue Duffle Coat to a friend of mine, and now I want it back so bad!
February 5, 2013 at 4:49 am
The yellow socks are cool
February 8, 2013 at 12:14 am
Can’t tell whether the photographer’s camera is a Leica or Fujitech (or neither), but I love her style. And the Celine-esque bag.
February 12, 2013 at 9:23 pm
I love finally found the perfect duffle coat with Original Montgomery this year. Blue plaid, horn buttons. It’s perfect on the oldest of days with a thin down vest underneath.

I’ve had a very good English duffle coat for years, made by Partridge, in black wool.
Whilst searching for a decent trench online, I came across a linen version of the duffle, lightweight for spring.
I have mixed feelings about traditional staples in new fabrics, and would like to hear your takes on it.
It comes in several colours, but this light olive caught my eye:
