lower east side couple look more like LA fashion. LES fashion people have much more of an edge and less scoop shop looking….

this is great. you just as easily could have gone with 20′s/30′s.

hmmm. i see the contrast.
i dont like too-short shorts with boots. if its warm enought to wear the shorts its warm enough to take off the boots.
like the orange and blue.

What a difference but yes, it is very ‘typical’ or is it that obvious over there? Im leaning towards the Uppers…more my kind of style

Did not realize it was that cold in the UES!!
May 15, 2006 at 2:34 am
so happy i don’t live on the UES.

Both looks are boring and simple.
A mix between the styles would be interesting. For example: The jacket of the man (upper) with the guy’s jeans (lower).

I love it!

i love style in all forms. Love the white belts of the first couple, the coat over trench coat, and the orange pants (even though I don’t prefer that cut). So are brown shoes worn with orange pants or is it not enough contrast?
don't quote me on this

Hmmm, let’s see:
LES vs. UES – winner is LES!
They are casual in that hip, special way.
I also generally like UES style, however, this couple isn’t really a good example of it I have to say. They don’t really give off a very polished or put together look as one would expect.
All in all, a nice contrast.

i only prefer italian preppy so which couple do you think i picked?
May 15, 2006 at 4:26 am
Christy, how smug does that first couple look?
May 15, 2006 at 6:09 am
why is this typical?
May 15, 2006 at 6:35 am
I didn’t mean for this to be a winner/loser thing
I thought both were great examples of the extreme styles that represent their neighborhoods – I think both are done very well
11:08pm – your right I could have said 20s/30s

I like what you’ve attempted to do here.
Funny thing is, LES in twenty more years could very well be the UES couple. Or twenty years ago, LES couple may well have been the UES couple when they were younger.
Changing your style as you grow older is an affirmation of being alive. That’s not to say you wouldn’t maybe see the UES couple looking like LES on a low key saturday afternoon. Cept the boots, UES gal would were Choo sandles.

She looks like she’s thinking “God I hope my husband doesn’t see this picture!”

All these couples you’ve photographed definitely fit right into what they’re wearing, and each other. Those two things happening at the same time is nothing short of a miracle. I really dug the before last post with the ultra-casual early thirties couple. Natural, unpretentious style that says “We look good together, clothes on or off.” Good for them!

I really love the color in the upper east side gentleman’s outfit. Everything works so well together that he outshines his wife/girlfriend and the other couple.

I second what Argos said in the previous post that, “Changing your style as you grow older is an affirmation of being alive.” I love the way you put that, it’s very true, thanks.

2 sides of the same coin. I can see both couples at the same party, totally getting along with one another. Style appreciates style, I think. Most of the time.
May 15, 2006 at 2:00 pm
in general, both couples look typical, but they’re ok. yeah, LES couple–especially the blonde kimberly stewart clone–looks like they’re from L.A.

I love these two shots…think they all look fantastic.
May 19, 2006 at 3:42 am
love LES fashon. damn i miss NY
May 22, 2006 at 12:21 pm
That’s not LES fashion. More like Chelsea
October 29, 2006 at 5:08 am
Love the contrast and like someone else said, would love to see a mix of the two styles.
February 14, 2007 at 12:43 pm
I bet UES are from Italy.
April 14, 2008 at 12:04 pm
She kind of looks like Gwen Stefani.

I loved the photos!

They look like members of the Kennedy family. Second thoughts, the man looks too European in those trousers to be a Kennedy!
