I really love the strong seam lines of the jacket on the guy on the right of this photo (the one without the hat). And that little gap between jacket and trouser. It made me reconsider how little time I spend analysing the backs of outfits that I wear. Despite (or because of) dressing in front of a mirror everyday I can’t actually remember a time I really put thought into the rear of an outfit.

Thanks for an inspiring moment Scott!

Perfectly cut pants (note the perfect, absolutely perfect, length!), just the right kind of brogues (not too masculine and not too fancy), fun sweatshirt and then that woolen hat. Best look in a while.

I’m all about grey and red these days…and I’m thinking that sweater would be a great DIY project with some 100 percent wool felt. You could applique the felt on to the sweatshirt. I’d use KK2000 spray to temporarily stick the appliques in place. Sew. 24 hours later, KK2000 disappears. Voila! Done!

menswear on a chick – ACE

  71. A

    January 10, 2013 at 4:52 pm

I find it funny how people always have to mention something like “she makes it work, because she still manage to look feminine, because of her hair/make-up/heels/soft features/etc.”, when they encounter an image of a woman wearing menswear/menswear-inspired clothes. Is femininity so fragile, that it will totally disappear, if you don’t wear something that screams “I’m a girl!!!”? Doesn’t the fact that you actually are a woman count for something? I don’t think wearing menswear makes you (look like) some sexless and a-sexual being. What if she didn’t wear make-up and had short hair, would she look like a man? Would that mean she would be ugly? And her outfit too, because she didn’t manage to make it feminine? Can’t her outfit be good, just because it’t good and can’t she be beautiful, just because she’s beautiful?
And what if you ended up looking sexless, would that be a crime against style? Aren’t you as a woman not allowed to feel unconscious of your own gender and body, or do you really have to flaunt it, to be feminine and/or spare people from confusion?

    • Monsieur Marcel

    • christine

      January 11, 2013 at 8:33 am

favourite comment..i holeheartedly agree with you….

our sex doesn’t depend on what we do prefer to have on our bed -gay or bi-or on how long hair has a woman or how short hair has a man~

we’got to get rid of these theories.style has nothing to do with sexuality, has to do with personality!

I like, something about the sweatshirt length vs the pants is making her look extremely short proportioned though.
