Okay, serious philosophical question alert: Is the Burberry print meant to be clashed with??? Because it’s SO EASY to clash that print, so many people do it (but not on purpose I suspect). I feel like some prints are meant to be clashed, but that Burberry print–along with the Luis Vuitton brown–is tricky. I’d love to hear anyone’s thoughts on this. http://lordashbury.com
The Burberry print is “meant to be clashed with” if one has the stones to clash it and walk with one’s head held high, as the gentleman in the photo is doing. There really are no rules.
I concur with Simbarashe! Just a little too much going on with the Burberry print. Instead of seeing the ensemble as a whole, my eyes head straight to that Burberry print — cool shoes though. The fur is fierce. I like the colors in that collaboration.
It’s a nice idea, although I don’t particularly like the proportions of either example here. Nevertheless, it’s definitely a must-try. I also like to layer a puffer vest or gilet over a blazer, even if that one has been sort of popularized quite a bit lately.
Ok, more Emperor’s New Clothes? The guy on the left looks like he sporting a Burberry Horse blanket and the one on the left looks like he has a raw pelt under his real jacket that will become a rug. Not for me thanks . . .
I love the second one, but theres something great about the first one as well. the argyle socks, the burberry print, the shorter jeans. Great contrast and composition.
Thanks for the great photos
I actually like these looks. Personally, I like to see people be daring AND confident!! I recognize there are certain situations that call for donning beautifully crafted artisan suits, but I love to think of fashion and clothes as costume. Dress bold, be bold. Fashion is a medium for us to express ourselves and to stray from social norms and celebrate individuality.
Ahhhhhhh sooooooo magical to see this new edition of the Sartorialist! This is the kind of photograph that I sit on the edge just WAITING for. The man in the fur lining is just so unusual…. Chic and romantic and creating a look all his own. Love the man in the Burberry as well but MR. Fur really has it all in terms of wow-i-am-on-the-verge-Stealing-your-look factor.
Does noone ever say – this person looks ridiculous ?
I love this blog and I think a lot of people look great
and the shots do a great job of capturing attitude and style
But sometime, just sometimes, some of the ‘looks’ look
ridiculous – there is a posturing ….a preposterousness
No ?

When I see a man wearing a white t-shirt tucked into dress pants, I think “partly dressed,” not “stunning.”

Usualy love superpositions, and wear it very often, but sorry, these two, for my personal taste, are simply ridiculous!

+1. Absolutely.
Some people look great, but others just look like ridiculous poseurs. The above photos, IMNSHO, fall into that latter category.
