Christmas palette. Nice.
December 18, 2012 at 3:17 pm
squatter chic :)
December 18, 2012 at 2:08 pm
Innovative shoes!! :)
December 18, 2012 at 3:46 pm
Exactly, I have never seen similar shoes :)
December 19, 2012 at 3:00 am
He looks like an artist (I would say a painter) and he probably painted the black shoes himself
December 18, 2012 at 2:10 pm
Those kicks are crazy. want want want!
It’s a LDN Thing
December 18, 2012 at 2:22 pm
I love how the tones in the shoes and the sweater really go together.
December 18, 2012 at 2:23 pm
kind of a mess. but youth trumps almost every thing else when it comes to nearly everything, including apparel.
December 18, 2012 at 4:20 pm
December 18, 2012 at 4:23 pm
I agree and kinda love the sweater, shirt, tattoos, and shoes. But, what’s up with the flimsy, saggy drawer pants?
December 18, 2012 at 2:27 pm
love that shoes :)
I’m watching this photo in the same position as this guy, scratching my head… :)
December 18, 2012 at 3:58 pm
Yeah, me too.
Is he wearing a dhoti?
December 18, 2012 at 7:24 pm
Is he scratching his head trying to remember what he forgot…like PANTS!
Cakes and Manolos
December 18, 2012 at 2:28 pm
Only New York can take that.
I still want white pants.
December 18, 2012 at 2:31 pm
A glunge style right? Like it!
THE STEL STYLE
I like his shoes!!
December 18, 2012 at 2:34 pm
he reminds me of somebody that I used to know
December 18, 2012 at 2:36 pm
A little bit too sharp;)
December 18, 2012 at 2:38 pm
It is such a strange look, but I like it somehow. Even his shoes are awesome!
December 18, 2012 at 2:42 pm
If people “ooh”, “ahh”, and gush, saying how utterly genius this outfit is, I will scream.
The pants are totally unacceptable.
December 18, 2012 at 4:08 pm
finally someone who has enough of the endless flow of “ahhh” and “awesome”. this guy simply looks dirty
December 18, 2012 at 5:41 pm
Oh, Waratah, thanks for validating my opinion!
I never question Scott’s photography skills – I love his placement, use of light, angles, you name it. But I think he shoots a wide variety of styles: classic, tasteful, questionable, fantastic, bizarre, amazing, awful, you name it – sometimes with a view to blowing us away with someone’s sartorialism … or to spark dialogue.
It’s like when people become famous or rich – all of a sudden they’re considered “hot”, “gorgeous”, “amazing” … I sometimes find that happens here. Because they’re on The Sartorialist – my favourite blog on the planet – all of a sudden they’re the most exquisite fashion plate ever.
Often they are; sometimes they are not.
But no matter what – I *do* often appreciate someone’s style, if I don’t actually personally *like* it.
December 19, 2012 at 12:08 am
Agree. The photos are good and I like variety, too. While sometimes I feel the posts go to extreme, testing the admirers. Other times I feel it a bit boring that on most of the pictures you see the same age and weigth group:)) skinny models just out from the show, this is not variety – very rarely what I call real persons. Of course they are not so gorgeous:)) but its a nice job to find the beauty in them, one detail which makes them unique.
you can easily guess Im a big old woman:))
December 19, 2012 at 11:44 am
A lot of the subjects are models or those in the fashion biz who have modelly looks or body types, but there is a good cross-section of actual “peeps on the streets” …. and there tends to be a broader scope of age/body types when men are photographed. I’d love to see more mature people of all body types, too. I’m a 43 year old petite woman with curves, size 8/10/12, depending on where I shop or what part of my body I’m dressing – haha – and I love variety, too.
I’m half Japanese, half English, in Canada – and I’d love to see as much ethnic diversity as possible.
It’s a great blog!!
December 18, 2012 at 6:57 pm
even if the pants were clean I still wouldnt like this.
December 19, 2012 at 6:44 am
Agree – I see nothing attractive about this – he’s wearing dirty, baggy long underwear. That is not fashion.
December 20, 2012 at 11:55 pm
No, it’s not fashion … much closer to style.
December 18, 2012 at 2:50 pm
I love the shoes.
December 18, 2012 at 3:00 pm
December 18, 2012 at 3:02 pm
I went to school with this kid, and am really glad to know he’s alive.
December 18, 2012 at 3:03 pm
Love his shoes
Check my new post
December 18, 2012 at 3:11 pm
I get it. I see the lines but I don’t like the forced execution. In a room full of Brooks Brother’s suits and ugly shoes I would probably want to spend the most time talking with this guy but, I don’t like the outfit at all.
December 18, 2012 at 3:26 pm
Great style, beautiful photo!
December 18, 2012 at 3:33 pm
I really like that pic.
December 18, 2012 at 3:34 pm
stravagant but i like it
December 18, 2012 at 3:37 pm
December 18, 2012 at 3:43 pm
Love the sweater/shirt combo as worn…but “something, something…something, something just ain’t right”.
January 5, 2013 at 5:53 pm
Agreed. (see my comment)
December 18, 2012 at 3:44 pm
I believe he forgot his knickers, and left the house in only his long johns.
December 19, 2012 at 12:39 pm
I agree, it looks as if he’s wearing very dirty/stained white long johns. I think it’s gross.
December 18, 2012 at 3:54 pm
Is it April Fools Day already?
December 18, 2012 at 4:32 pm
December 18, 2012 at 4:01 pm
perfection, loving that certain freedom the look represents
December 18, 2012 at 4:05 pm
Are you kidding? Innovative shoes? Christmas palette?
He seems to be out in filthy long underwear, and he’s probably painted his shoes, and just looks a mess! And we’re all supposed to ooooh and ahhhhh? Because he’s young and cute?C’mon people!
December 18, 2012 at 5:44 pm
See my reaction, above…… ;)
December 20, 2012 at 10:28 am
If you don’t have anything nice to say, you don’t have to say anything at all.
December 18, 2012 at 4:12 pm
Is not entirely polished, but still, the sweater saves the look. Nice picture, by the way.
December 18, 2012 at 5:22 pm
The top is O.K
The bottom ???
December 18, 2012 at 5:25 pm
I m not sure if this look is a good combo. But I m sure that the bike is super cool! And hey the guy is so cool, he can wear anything.
December 18, 2012 at 5:30 pm
I love this style so interesting so innovative. Great pic!
Daddy Lele from Lelli, italian fashion family
December 18, 2012 at 5:47 pm
the first thing I noticed were the tattoos on his hands.
December 18, 2012 at 6:02 pm
Love his sweater !!
December 18, 2012 at 6:08 pm
no. white longjohns will never equal pants. or style. never.
December 18, 2012 at 8:30 pm
I think he’s scratching his head because he just remembered he forgot something!
December 18, 2012 at 8:35 pm
Sick awesome shoes.
December 18, 2012 at 8:36 pm
I know this guy, he went to UChicago with me. It’s funny to see all of you seriously critiquing his clothing, as he is an extreme environmentalist, and could probably care less about what clothes he’s wearing. His look is totally genuine. I’m frankly surprised to see him in NYC – I can’t imagine how he can afford to live there.
December 19, 2012 at 2:03 am
I don’t think anyone is “seriously” criticizing the handsome kid. His outfit is odd.
BTW, anyone who takes the pains to assemble such an unusual outfit is definitely thinking about what he’s wearing.
I’m intrigued by what seems to be a cropped sweater over a sweater over a shirt. And what are those pants?
December 19, 2012 at 9:58 am
I don’t think it “pains” him to assemble such an outfit. He’s wearing a sweater over a button down, with pants and shoes. Each item itself is perhaps unique, but his individual choices were likely a result of practicality and affordability. I also used the word “critiquing”, not criticizing – a far more personal judgement.
December 18, 2012 at 8:47 pm
I think the outfits alright but the pants really remind me of long johns that perhaps my grandad would wear.
December 18, 2012 at 9:16 pm
I feel that I know exactly how he feels. Paint on the hand; head itch and all…
December 18, 2012 at 11:06 pm
He once sent me a very nice postcard from Europe.
May 22, 2015 at 11:28 am
Daniel, do you know his name?
I would like to contact him for a photo shoot,
even though this picture is 3 years old.
December 18, 2012 at 11:33 pm
he dances and walks in the woods.
may everyone start wearing long underwear on the sidewalks…please please.
i hope next time you get him in one of his wigs plz
December 19, 2012 at 1:30 am
He looks so pensive, I love his style!
December 19, 2012 at 1:53 am
That’s awful! Dude must be colour-blind. And the shirt hanging out of a jumper is one of the dumbest style-statements there is.
December 19, 2012 at 2:10 am
When you still have the bloom of youth, you can get away with anything.
December 19, 2012 at 2:44 am
Like the ink on his han :)
December 19, 2012 at 3:38 am
Colorful shoes with awesome style.
December 19, 2012 at 6:15 am
I like the way he looks, and the expression in his eyes.
December 19, 2012 at 6:25 am
is it too late?
to ask Santa for the same sneakers?
December 19, 2012 at 7:39 am
December 19, 2012 at 7:46 am
Arghhhh-did he cut off a perfectly good Fair Isle sweater for no good reason? Maybe that’s why he’s scratching his head.
December 19, 2012 at 10:00 am
Haha, so many comments presupposing that one’s clothes are always fashion/style conscious. Maybe this is just as presumptuous but the best fashion statement (if any) is in his non-statement. Dig his character. Don’t change a thing.
December 19, 2012 at 10:32 am
Very interesting! Yes it’s a mess, i realize that but who cares if others “oooh and ahhh” at what he’s wearing. This shot is probably not something i’m never going to see around where i live so seeing it on here is an interesting twist. Thanks Scott!
December 23, 2012 at 11:54 am
Where on earth do people live who never wear tennis shoes, or improvise their outerwear? You might consider relocating to the city for a twist.
December 19, 2012 at 11:19 am
Love his tattoos on his hand. Great look !
December 19, 2012 at 11:48 am
seems carefree and easy going
December 19, 2012 at 2:29 pm
So funny! I’m painting my house right now and, actually, I’m wearing something that kind of looks like this: converse, checked pants, a striped t-shirt and a sweatshirt

Currently the best way men have to express their sexiness is with the pants as this man shows us. Before it was left to women to focus their expression on this part of the body. Men now are even considering very carefully their buttock.
December 19, 2012 at 6:32 pm
He has a sweet vibe. Perfect contrast with the eccentric outfit. love it.
December 20, 2012 at 9:05 am
Cool Nike Vintage Look Shoes!!!!!!!!
I want them!
December 20, 2012 at 10:10 am
It’s *his* expression of his own personal style – and he’s obviously comfortable with it. Capturing unique expressions of style is what The Sartorialist is all about; not putting people up for judgment. Why criticize?
December 20, 2012 at 10:58 am
i like it !He looks so pensive
December 20, 2012 at 1:23 pm
i would totally marry him
December 20, 2012 at 4:30 pm
OMG- could he be one of those.. ARTISTS?!!
December 23, 2012 at 12:24 pm
even if the look isn’t likeable I still enjoy seeing it, it’s just interesting to know someone put it on an decided to wear it for themselves. It’s less interesting if it’s some big, trendy thing they wear because you know not as much thought was put into it.

Are you kidding??!! If this is nice, I’m a flying elephant!
For those amazed by the shoes, just buy a spray and DIY!
Sorry, but this is not nice at all!
December 26, 2012 at 5:18 pm
He is absolutely adorable! On a more substantive note, I very much appreciate his irreverence and anarchic spirit.

Its two outfits (one above the waist and one below) and not connecting. Je n’aime pas ça
addendum to my earlier post: he’s hot….
January 11, 2013 at 2:45 pm
uh… no. looking pretty good except for the, dirty long underwear? what??
February 13, 2013 at 2:46 am
