Like the ones on the right, but I like that black lace dress too.

Love the shoes!
December 17, 2012 at 8:39 pm
the cigarette makes this pic awesome.
December 17, 2012 at 9:01 pm
Makes me want to start smoking again.
December 18, 2012 at 8:44 am
I hope you are kidding. The photo would be much better sans cigarette.
December 17, 2012 at 9:09 pm
That’s some serious legage and shoeage!
I would defer to them in any argument just because of that. If fact, I’ll make it my New Year’s resolution.
December 17, 2012 at 9:29 pm
i love the criss-cross shoes….this photo makes one wonder….”what are they talking about”?
December 17, 2012 at 9:32 pm
any one knows where the black heels on the right is from?
thinkin of getting it for my wedding!
I’d expect nothing less from Italians! Well played, ladies. :)
December 17, 2012 at 9:44 pm
Knees are not meant to hyper extend like that. She should practice unlocking her knees, it will definitely make a difference in her future comfort.
December 18, 2012 at 4:29 pm
Is that ever the truth! You see a lot of that in pics these days and when photographed from the front the knee caps look misaligned.
Beautiful shoes and skirts. So feminine.
Love the skirt on the right and the shoes in the middle.
December 17, 2012 at 10:30 pm
such lovely shoes.
December 17, 2012 at 10:45 pm
Black is always sexy
December 17, 2012 at 10:53 pm
les cigarettes ne sont pas tres chic ces jours la.
December 17, 2012 at 10:56 pm
I think it was Emerson who said something to the effect of this. No, it was Leonardo De Vinci.
Genius is found in everyday common things. I think this blog is a testament to that.
There is not much wiggle room here as LDV was arguably the smartest man who ever lived.
I love this Blog and when I look at your stuff, I think to myself, I could do that.
The point I think is that I dont.
Keep doing what you do.Looking at your work is salubrious and I look forward to seeing
what you stumbled upon.

December 17, 2012 at 11:40 pm

December 18, 2012 at 2:22 am
I am always so happy to see that I am not the only pretty young woman who smokes.
December 18, 2012 at 2:35 am
legs for days!
December 18, 2012 at 2:37 am
even the cars are black…
December 18, 2012 at 2:41 am
The one with the cigarette is going to have a serious back problem before she gets 35 if she continues to stand in that position! Great picture really.
December 18, 2012 at 2:49 am
Love the black lace dress but can’t bear any of the shoes. More smoking! Are cigarettes chic again? Don’t want to appear awful but they don’t have nice legs. There is a saying in the UK – mutton dressed as lamb . . .
Excellent photos that reveal the human zoo. Many thanks for posting them Scott
December 18, 2012 at 2:57 am
That’s a gathering of stylish women. At least by judging from the shoes!
I think the lace-up black and silver shoes are Gianvito Rossi
December 18, 2012 at 3:08 am
In these modern times I don’t think we should be talking about how cool it is to be smoking. A lot of young people look at this blog and may be influenced by what they read.
December 22, 2012 at 3:27 pm
I think everybody has the right to choose and try whatever he likes, I also think high platform shoes are risky for a girl’s safety, but nobody preaches about how dangerous they can be, so please stop making a cigarette look like it was the only evil, since in fashion world 99% of the people smoke, and not only. Also, going bare legs with this north italian cold winter is much more risky for your health… Ciao ciao from Milan.

fantastic shoes and…legs…
December 18, 2012 at 3:21 am
Love the lace dress on the right and the shoes are particularly gorgeous!
December 18, 2012 at 3:27 am
And I love this shot. The women are so perfectly Italian and perfectly stylish, even though when you look again it seems clear they aren’t nineteen year-olds with perfect bodies, they’ve made themselves gorgeous. Even the angle of the finger about to tap the ash of the cigarette (and of course we all think smoking is dire), it isn’t posed like some smoking shots, she’s absorbed in talking to her friends out of shot. The clothes and shoes are all gorgeous but what’s amazing is we can extrapolate a whole fabulous conversation – and a nice chunk of Italian street life – going on over our heads from this little vignette.

The boots of the lady with the cigarette look really uncomfortable, because she seems to try very hard to keep the balance. I dont like shoes that wear you … to have a good look also means to me, to feel comfortable …
December 18, 2012 at 4:18 am
I must go to Milan!
December 18, 2012 at 4:20 am

December 18, 2012 at 4:26 am
I love everything, the shoes, the clothes, the accessories… Except the cigarette!
December 18, 2012 at 4:50 am
Is she wearing socks with buttons? Or could those be repurposed vintage gloves? Whichever, what a great idea! (But I am seriously concerned seeing the cigarette burning so close to the delicate lace…)
December 18, 2012 at 4:53 am
I love black skirts. I love the middle one too much.
December 18, 2012 at 5:31 am

You’ve not been to Milan in the last couple of days; it’s cold, snowy, grey and wet! The Milanese all look thoroughly fed up!
Damn! Is it that warm in Milan???
Or was it…?
I so envy them if it is! Wish I can be barefoot in my gorgeous heels instead of fighting snow and blizzards in Uggs and biker boots every day…
Great captured moment as always and love the ciggie in it even I know it’s forbidden :O
Ok, I’m a liar blog
December 18, 2012 at 7:10 am
Love the black lace dress and those lace ankle boots!
December 18, 2012 at 7:22 am
This is a beautiful monochrome ensembles trio, captured artfully by Scott as always. I think the lace skirt look so great because of the contrast between it and the amber pins it graces. I have a similar skirt and would love to wear it this way, without tights… But I have dreadful varicose veins, brought on by heavy smoking in my youth. They were the best accessory I ever had. Good luck to the smoker in front… She may get to her 40s without ‘em sprouting, but I wouldn’t put money on it.
December 18, 2012 at 7:23 am
Beautiful shoes!!! The lace dress must be pretty too!
December 18, 2012 at 7:40 am
Are you in Milan right now? :)
December 18, 2012 at 7:50 am
Oh the shoes!!!
December 18, 2012 at 7:52 am
Cigarettes are not chic anymore. This is the reason because I stopped smoking four years ago! People who smoke seem to be always in a hurry.
December 18, 2012 at 9:05 am
Would it look more fabulous if you use luminous shoes in the night? Especially when you go to the party? I think it would look sexier! :D
December 18, 2012 at 9:13 am
Nice lace dress and those black and white heels!!

One thing often seen with women wearing high heels : hyperextension of the legs, like they have no more tonus… not very beautiful and surely not very good for the legs !
December 18, 2012 at 4:21 pm
Love all the black and white, it’s the details that make this such a lovely shot.
December 18, 2012 at 6:03 pm
Love the shoes they’re wearing !!
December 18, 2012 at 6:13 pm
Milanese women are the most stylish in the world .
I wish the women of NYC could dress half as well
December 18, 2012 at 7:19 pm
I LOVE the dress on the right. The lace detail is so adorbable!!!!
December 18, 2012 at 9:33 pm
Sorry, but the short skirts, bare legs and heels (especially with a cigarette) look really cheap. The lady on the right looks great.
December 18, 2012 at 10:43 pm
The right most heels. Perfection.
December 19, 2012 at 3:13 am
I feel bad for their feet.
December 19, 2012 at 1:17 pm
Tres estilos, tres diferentes naturalezas, una sola cosa en común: la distinción. WOW por esos zapatos tan chic
December 19, 2012 at 1:58 pm
Sorry, I think they look cheap, the bare legs with the heels, the badly fitting black mini, the cigarette. After reading these posts, I’m surprised by the number that say this looks sexy. In what country?

This shot reminds me of Times Square thirty years ago …
