But there is a trick! Apply it roughly, and the put the jacket inside out zipper closed in your dryer.
After 1/2 hour to one hr. your jacket will come out perfect for the next thunderstorm.
I grew up in Georgia, so I didn’t see as many Barbour jackets. But, as soon as I reached DC for college and eventually New York, I would see them everywhere. It’s cool to see how engrained in the Northeast culture they have gotten.

I bought a tin of this while on a recent trip to the UK. I then rewaxed my 15 year old Barbour one Saturday evening. Yes, it did take a couple of hours to do it properly, but by the time I had finished I had a 15 year old Barbour jacket that looked brand new!
The effort was seriously worth it. my Barbour is still my favourite coat.
There is something truly special about going through the whole experience. Besides, a few hours for one day gives you a fresh looking coat for at least another couple of seasons!

If you live in NY, bring your coat to Barbour and for less than $30 they will wax it for you. They can also repair holes, and check your jacket for anything that needs repairing. Very thoughtful asssitant gift though. Gift should include the labor, perhaps? :)
I wax my own Barbour. It doesn’t take anything like four hours – more like 30 minutes of actual work. Just do it in on a nice warm day and let it lie in the sun so it sinks in well. I don’t understand why people say it is such a hard job. Nothing could be simpler, and it is much better than sending your Barbour away for weeks to have it done – and trying to fill the gap in your wardrobe in the meantime.

A spray exists, however I am not sure if it is from Barbour, but shops specialised in horse riding and/or hunting will probably sell it.
