he just look hot. so dapper.
August 13, 2006 at 11:33 am
great outfit. Is that a white color on a “not white” shirt? Perhaps a bit formal with the extreme spread collar for the outfit.
August 13, 2006 at 12:32 pm
Not only the colors but the whole persona is exquisite. His hair, accessories, gestures achieve a level of harmony that only spells a very interesting personality. My favorite fashion report from your keen aye so far. This is an example of the America that – in my opinion, and in a few cases- is beyond “stylish” capitals : a perfect shift from convention to transgression. A beautiful emancipation.
positively the same dame

not mad about the bling, and he should probably empty his pockets, but the suit is definitely doing it for me.
August 13, 2006 at 1:19 pm
is it just me or does his suit not fit well at all – sure, his ensemable is distinctive but that’s about it
August 13, 2006 at 1:40 pm
well done…great colors.
August 13, 2006 at 1:57 pm
Cheers for the great color sense; but the collar’s adrift, and the jacket too small over the chest….
August 13, 2006 at 2:49 pm
I love how fresh the color combo looks — almost fresher than plain white. Cool and crisp. And more men should wear purple.

brave, but not sure if i like it.
August 13, 2006 at 3:19 pm
i think this works excellently for this guy…i’m not sure that this outfit would look good on everybody though.
August 13, 2006 at 4:46 pm
Oh my…the chunky jewelry, his great hair and what appears to be a purple chiffon pocket square are magnificent. Really regal.

oh no … it’s just wrong – it makes you cringe

Seersucker has it’s critics, but a good seersucker is functional and the quintessential summer wardrob staple as far as I’m concerned. In this case the cut and pattern is istinguished and fun all rolled into one.
Looking good, sir
August 13, 2006 at 7:12 pm
This is stupendous.
August 13, 2006 at 8:58 pm
damn it!…you chopped off his feet!loving this look, but i have such issues with what shoes work best with my pale blue seer sucker suit!HELP!what was this guy wearing?
August 13, 2006 at 9:25 pm
Dazzling! The play, as it were, of signifiers across the purple and the little coke-bottle-looking glasses and the hair and the rings and the light-colored suit–very clever. He looks like he belongs in a novel–an alternate and more interesting reality.
August 13, 2006 at 9:46 pm
makes me smile ! (agree could do w/o bling)
August 13, 2006 at 10:10 pm
Seersucker – Term derived from the Persian “shirushaker”, a kind of cloth, literally “milk and sugar”.
August 13, 2006 at 11:59 pm
I love seersucker – such a fresh fabric!this is a beautiful suit – he looks great!!although the purple tie is a little strong in colour for the suit dont u think?

now here’s the EFFORTLESS CHIC a la Andre3000
August 14, 2006 at 5:30 am
Great seersucker suit, love the spread collar and the glasses but really not liking all that bling. What shoes did he have??
August 14, 2006 at 8:23 am
No doubt that this guy is probably one of the best pictures I’ve seen on this blog so far. The seersucker suit, the purple, the hair, glasses, it all works. You get the sense that even the bling was put there on purpose, perhaps to continue the whole contrast of the different aspects of the look. Good one man…
August 14, 2006 at 8:25 am
colors are fine, but the jacket is too small.
August 14, 2006 at 10:46 am
What a dude! How many can carry off the white/off-white suit with flare?!
August 14, 2006 at 11:00 am
i’m not a fan of purple at all…but it works on him.and the jacket is NOT too small.
August 14, 2006 at 11:03 am
hmmm…i am still awaiting, on the edge, of news of shoes……please tell us all, herr sartorialist.
August 14, 2006 at 11:17 am
I don’t remember the shoe color but I think it would be a summer-tan leather definitely not black or even dark brown
August 14, 2006 at 4:15 pm
Love it !
That’s the way to go for summer.Seersucker rocks. With the right details it looks very modern. Look at the gentleman from a couple of weeks ago, pulling a seersucker combination in green. With this outfit the purple really makes it work. Very dapper !
August 14, 2006 at 4:19 pm
Ehhh… want so bad to like it, but doesn’t really work for reasons already cited– for me, that would be mostly- combining dressy shirt/accessories with a casual suit. It can be done, but this isn’t how. Too much jewelry and I don’t think the jacket fits either. Could be the angle, but I used to sell clothing, so should know a little something…
August 14, 2006 at 10:38 pm
Great looking suit with perfect fit and color combo. Love the londoner collar.
August 14, 2006 at 10:39 pm
The suit fit is perfect. Love the color combo and londoner collar.
August 15, 2006 at 9:13 am
He looks very very British, IMHO (except the bling.) He pulls the look together, though- it takes someone of outstanding character to pull this off. He could easily be a weirdo dressed with the same haircut and bling in a baggy t-shirt and jeans but instead he dons this outfit. Brilliant!
August 15, 2006 at 3:29 pm
Who makes a tie that color?! Love it!
August 18, 2006 at 2:28 pm
A very rare occasion where Seersucker actually looks great!
August 20, 2006 at 7:52 pm
seersucker works on this guy, but it definitely is not a universally flattering fabric on men — especially on the bottom half of the body. i saw a man in chelsea the other day wearing a polo shirt and seersucker pants. the pants only served to silhouette the gigundo thingaling he was packing there. it was way too distracting and actually kind of vulgar — the equivalent of a DD woman wearing a low-cut tank top.
August 22, 2006 at 4:09 am
Nobody wears seersucker suits in Australia except Americans, and we probably should in summmer due to our extreme climate.
I think I’m going to see what my tailor can do.
August 22, 2006 at 4:12 am
That tie.. could well be Ralph Lauren.
August 26, 2006 at 4:50 am
my favorite look on this site in a LONG time
September 23, 2006 at 4:59 pm
I think this guy has great taste in colors but I honestly think he needs to move up a suit size. His jacket looks just a bit too tight for comfortable, all-round wear during a typical day.
January 18, 2012 at 4:13 pm
Woah nelly, how about them appels!
January 27, 2012 at 8:52 am
A Winchester shirt always does it with a well fitted suit like he has on.but I honestly think that pocket sqr wasn’t the best option to nail that look. And what’s with all the bling?
July 8, 2012 at 3:11 am
agree with Maria above.well beyond the norm & convention – i mean it’s an afro-american take on all that seersucker the right shirt & glasses means. v fresh. love the bling
