I think this is one of my favorite things about fashion – that one does not necessarily have to like something in order to appreciate it, or in order to respect the choices someone has made. This isn’t an outfit I’d wear, but I still enjoy thinking about what this woman likes about it – what it fulfills for her.
I don’t really like this look… Not flattering on the silhouette. I think you have to pick the right cut for your body shape, that’s a golden rule !
Even though it’s tempting to try things that look great on others.
What a wonderful look! There is a Japanese feel about it. The low pants and tucked in button up shows off her long torso beautifully. The pop of patter on her socks shows that she’s having fun, depending on her mood she could just change her socks. A fitted velvet blue blazer and chunky heals could turn this day look into night. :)
Now thats interesting. So Japanese people play up their long torso/short leg body type on purpose? I have often wondered that. Personally i have a long torso. Not as long as this girls, but longish. I have always thought making your legs look longer improves the proportions. Its more graceful to my eye. But she is obviously doing what she can to make her legs look short, with the low rise jean trousers and buttoned up shirt. I wonder if it is some influence I don’t know about from people who see long legs as a bad thing. Its all cultural, I suppose.
Interesting. I bet she would look amazing if she was wearing a different pair of jeans. It actually makes it look like her upper body is a long rectangle, while her lower body is a short rectangle. But I give her props for confidence, great shoes and socks, and lovely, lovely hair. But I think I will stay far way from very low rise jeans with a tucked in shirt. The way she is framed by the two poles is very appealing. its just such an interesting combo of bad things and good things.
I doubt people would gush if they saw her walking by on the street. I’m with some of the others – I don’t like it, but I appreciate it. If I saw her walk by, I’d notice the care she took in putting the outfit together, and notice her good taste in quality pieces – I just don’t find this combo all that appealing.
I love her trouser denims … and I’d love to pair them with a snug-fitting top of just about any kind.
I have seen narrow top+bottom and baggy top+bottom work … but generally, I do prefer contrasting fits between top+bottom.

Hated the girl-does-boy look from the 80s – hate it now. There is so much more to women’s fashion than putting on some jeans and a button down.
