I like how he wears his cardigan – a very nonchalant attitude!
November 29, 2012 at 2:49 pm

Hey! It’s Ringo Starr!

Scott, you should post one of those “If You’re Thinking About… Sockless” to hush up all of those haters from yesterday. Going sockless is good leather is VERY COMFY.
November 29, 2012 at 7:35 pm
I second that. I think there is a broad range of how people do sockless, and it would be nice to see a bunch of looks juxtaposed. I think the way Italians do it is a form of what is called “conspicuous consumption” — since you can only do it comfortably in good (expensive) shoes, and then it wears the (expensive) shoes out quicker. Americans (maybe our dear Scott included here) do it in a more rebellious way.

Really so nice pics and I like his style. Have a great day.

Nice sweater look. So much for the Italian no break in the pants. Looks like he forgot.

The thick shawl cardigan mates perfectly with the crispy white collar-less shirt.

Great style :)

This underlines what I said a few days ago about italian men wearing leather shoes with no socks !
Nothing beats classic, timeless elegance like this gentleman.
(I can’t believe all the commotion regarding the socks issue !)

Sagged pants on anyone is a travesty-young or old.

You have photographed this gentleman before, no?
He’s got it together- simple but sophisticated.

This looks like the uniform of the Pullman drivers. Is he a bus driver? I miss Italy.

The socklessness that we see in todays street style photographs is not anything new. We wore Bass Weejuns, Top Siders And saddle shoes without socks all, though the year because is was simply divine to slip ones feet into that smooth leather insole. We did this back in the 60′s in America and – as well, in France And Germany. I still go sockless way up here in Norway… All year round. It’s all about comfort And a bit about style. Love your photographs Scott, And carry your first book in my duffle bag where ever I go.

Wow, “Coolism” personified! Do you think he just threw that outfit on or do you think it is more studied? I hope it’s the former…
December 2, 2012 at 5:55 am
It’s probably the first one. I could imagine all of his wardrobe includes pie’s that match together, what ever he picks out of it.
November 30, 2012 at 10:17 am
nice contrast of style and generation between pants and shoes
November 30, 2012 at 1:44 pm
The color palette is refined, and this man can probably pull off things that I could only dream of. I have no doubt that the clothing and the shoes are of excellent quality. But doesn’t every garment look ill-fitted as opposed to relaxed? Doesn’t your eye travel down his body and rest where his shirt meets his pants?
November 30, 2012 at 6:21 pm
This is one of those instances where I don’t like the individual pieces of clothing, but the way he wears them makes the outfit work nonetheless.

I love the sockless look!

Wow. I’m amazed at all the positive reviews here. Absolutley nothing I like about this fellow’s look; from the stubbly haircut, untrimmed beard, pretentious sweater over the shoulders and right down to the lack of socks. Uncool in the extreme IMO.
December 2, 2012 at 5:50 am
Very very nice! All-in-one he’s got feeling for colors and proportions. Want to look like him when I’m his age, but without cigarette. Though I love smoking. Greetings, Daniele
