Cute yes. Innocent yes. Mousy; Absolutely not at all. More like boldly modest.

I agree! Mousy? No. More like classy. This girl has style. That je ne sais quoi. Look at her eyes! Those are not mousy eyes. x.
November 29, 2012 at 5:41 pm
I absolutely love this outfit!! The gold shoes look great with the purple tights I just love the entire color palate! :D

That’s what I felt the look!
November Hall of Fame, this week’s FTW!
November 29, 2012 at 9:06 am
There is! She’s lovely. She’s already developed a form of je-ne-sais-quoi that all great, stylish women have.

Nice color combination.
November 29, 2012 at 12:24 pm
That is a very clever color combination. Its catchy. But the coat is what I am looking at. I have been looking for one just like that. Oversized, but you don’t drown in it. I love the 80′s rebel tuck of the collar. Now I want to do all that.

Really great pic. I like it. Have a nice day.
November 29, 2012 at 9:25 am
self-confident young woman… so gentle and strong at the same time…
THE STEL STYLE
nice colors in her outfit!!!
November 29, 2012 at 9:27 am
I value simplicity a great deal, but, in this case, there’s nothing special about her (outfit).

November 29, 2012 at 9:32 am
Hope indeed! Totally adorable and age-appropriate! Love the teal and bordeaux combination, and the ankle-tie metallic flats. Looks beautiful….and the setting is magical!
November 29, 2012 at 9:35 am
beautiful coat :)
Absolutely lovely :)
November 29, 2012 at 9:36 am
I just love to see tasteful and fashionable young girls, because I know there’s hope for this generation even with the influence of Jersey shores.
November 29, 2012 at 12:26 pm
All true. But this picture really didn’t need the heading. It would have been equally inspiring without knowing her age.
December 11, 2012 at 4:05 pm
You are missing the point.
November 29, 2012 at 9:42 am
awesome look- love the tights and the dress!
November 29, 2012 at 9:45 am
LOVE LOVE LOVE those tights.
November 29, 2012 at 9:59 am
Glad to see a teenager without jogging pants on that say PINK across the butt. This would look good on someone her age or twice her age.
November 29, 2012 at 10:09 am
really like her coat
such a young and stylish girl
November 29, 2012 at 10:16 am
What an impressive young woman.

love that you are featuring young people! it’s good to see that there is some fashion hope for the young people other than sparkly yoga pants…

just heard Alexander Wang is going to take over at Balenciaga, the future looks exciting in fashion as the youth keep it refreshing and always changing
November 29, 2012 at 10:52 am
This is a little haunting and I love that.
November 29, 2012 at 10:57 am
Plummy tights! (great color combo and look.)
November 29, 2012 at 11:10 am
She’s so cute!
November 29, 2012 at 11:21 am
She is cute, but more importantly, your photos from Nashville makes the city look like a place with a lot of soul. Maybe it’s the season or the particular places, can’t put my finger on it.
November 29, 2012 at 11:35 am
The colors are so nice
November 29, 2012 at 11:45 am
She is a beautiful young lady and the outfit is lovely.
November 29, 2012 at 11:46 am
Thanks for finding her. I hope young people see that there is something special about having your own style.
November 29, 2012 at 11:53 am

Outside Looking In
November 29, 2012 at 11:59 am
It’s nice to see a lovely young lady who is both appropriately dressed and not wearing a ton of makeup. That’s classy!
November 29, 2012 at 12:07 pm
I love this color of tights for fall. They remind me of leaves and red wine.
November 29, 2012 at 12:09 pm
Great color saturation in the photo. It screams Autumn and her color choices and simple dress are fantastic. She looks timeless.
Avery is such a wonderful girl! She´s got something special. There´s something mystically in her gaze, a special aura around her. I cannot explain better.
This girl (or should I say “young woman”?) could wear a trash bag and still would look wonderful. And she doesn´t need tons of make up, because she´s a natural beauty.
I like the picture very much, what Avery is wearing and also the whole athmosphere.
Greetings from Bavaria/Germany
November 29, 2012 at 12:17 pm
Beautiful faical expression for a laid back style. A young fashionista myself! Please check me out!
She is definitely looking gorgeous. I am sure she has plenty of devotees.
November 29, 2012 at 12:23 pm
Hope for the future. That’s how rich kids dress, eh?
November 29, 2012 at 7:28 pm
Good point. Avery’s look is divine, but I could not have dressed like that at 16 because even if I could get myself to the stores, my clothing budget only allowed thrift shops. Which was fine, in its way.
November 30, 2012 at 1:10 am
FOR THE RECORD: Nashville, in general, has a thriving thrifting and sewing community. She may not have paid much for that outfit, it could be its vintage/handmade. This is not a neighborhood of affluence.
In any case, I think she looks right smart and a proper little lady. *nods*
November 30, 2012 at 3:00 pm
That look probably doesn’t cost that much. The shoes I recognize. they are from Urban Outfitters, and they are good leather and quality, but not expensive. I have the black pair. They were around 30 dollars. Tights are cheap. the coat looks vintage.
In any case you don’t need to be wealthy to have a few expensive classic pieces, and add to them. Most kids I see look like they spend a ton on their clothing ESPECIALLY in poor areas. The poorest area in my town has a lot of teenagers with Sean John Jeans which cost at least a couple of hundred… and they all have very expensive tennis shoes. So its not like poor kids don’t spend a bundle on their clothing. Much more then this modest outfit.
November 29, 2012 at 12:28 pm
Perfection! So impressive she’s so young and so sophisticated! One of my fave Sartorialist shots ever.
November 29, 2012 at 12:54 pm
I’m so pleased that she’s fashionable AND age-appropriate. So many young girls these days equate being an adult with showing more skin. But she outclasses all of them, making her appear much more adult than her age.
November 29, 2012 at 12:55 pm
Innocent but stubborn eyes. Lovely shot!
November 29, 2012 at 1:32 pm
She’s beautiful and I love that she’s 16 and has style (aka not dressed like a hoochie!)
November 29, 2012 at 1:35 pm
Elle est très jolie, un look tout mignon sans fausse note! J’adore le collant burgundy!

November 29, 2012 at 1:58 pm
Nice! I love the jacket and the tights.
November 29, 2012 at 1:59 pm
Love the tights! It’s a playful but sophisticated outfit – perfect for any young woman – but her facial expression is what makes this such a striking picture.
November 29, 2012 at 2:01 pm
Why would there not be hope for the future? I am 16…

November 29, 2012 at 2:17 pm

November 29, 2012 at 2:21 pm
classic. elegant. beauty.
She should be on a pedestal (like that brick one to her left).
November 29, 2012 at 2:27 pm
November 29, 2012 at 2:30 pm
Great use of tonal colour and textures. Such a beautiful model too!
November 29, 2012 at 2:31 pm
She is so beautiful…classy and sophisticated. So proud :)
November 29, 2012 at 2:33 pm
Strength and confidence in such a delicate and elegant young lady! Adorable sophistocation!
November 29, 2012 at 2:50 pm
Oh, she’s beautiful! I never looked that wise or classic at 16.
November 29, 2012 at 2:51 pm
Stunning picture. I totally love the background & the colors she used for her outfit.
November 29, 2012 at 2:54 pm
i’ve never commented on here but i’m glad you posted a picture of a girl around my age who is dressed beautifully. however, i don’t think it’s fair to believe that majority of my generation dresses as “hooch’s”.
November 30, 2012 at 6:15 am
I agree! There are many people who dress alright, I don’t know anyone who goes out in those pink tracksuits…
November 29, 2012 at 3:00 pm
A lot of hope for the future! Dress and tights great combo!
November 29, 2012 at 3:24 pm
What a stunning look! The perfect combination of elegance with innocence.

Beautiful sweet face yet suffisticated!! Gorgeous
November 29, 2012 at 5:02 pm
A classic look and a real change from others her age. Stunning girl.
What an amazing look for a young lady. Avery drew me in with her eyes.
November 29, 2012 at 5:30 pm
Beautiful! The colours go well with her complextion and the scenery is just perfect! She looks amazing. :-)
November 29, 2012 at 5:32 pm
Perfect. The most eye-catching, for me at least, is those beautiful eggplant purple tights and how well they fit the color scheme.
November 29, 2012 at 5:33 pm
Love this shot! It incorporates fall fashion with a beauty full of elegance and poise! Perfect!!
November 29, 2012 at 5:40 pm
Omg. This is a beautiful picture. Whoever this is has perfect facial features, and her eyes speak so many words without her mouth having to move. She is gorgeous. I love this.
November 29, 2012 at 6:17 pm
She’s very beautiful and elegant. Also, I like her style!
November 29, 2012 at 7:15 pm
I’m just happy Sartorialist is venturing into small towns. Great fashion is found in the most surprising places.
une chatte grise
November 30, 2012 at 12:48 pm
Excuse me… Nashville is not a small town, and despite the big-hair-and-rhinestones stereotypes surrounding it, it’s not at all surprising that Mr S found some very stylish people hereabouts. (Hell, the legendary Katy K makes even the big hair and rhinestones fabulous!)
November 29, 2012 at 8:55 pm
Men will dash themselves on the rocks for this girl one day. Her gaze is haunting, like she knows what you’re thinking and is one step ahead. Hope for the future? Not in Nashville. This girl will end up in Paris or Tokyo. She won’t talk much; her gaze will say it all for her.
November 29, 2012 at 9:35 pm
Totaly agree with Eileen, Avery could wear a trash bag and still look beautiful. She is sutch an adorable and beautiful young lady. She looks sweet and inocent but very elegant and sufisticated at the same time. The photographer had a very good eye when he picked her to be here, what a smart man. I can’t wait to see more of her, i have a feeling this is just the biguining of a big carear as model. She knows how to look to the camera and say so much with her eyes….yup, we will hear about Avery many times.
Love this picture! Great conbination of colors and looks great on her.
November 29, 2012 at 9:50 pm
definite hope for the future! alittle tired of seeing teens dress so inappropriately tacky. this is a breath of fresh air and hopefully the fashion i want my little girl looking up too.
November 29, 2012 at 10:10 pm
The lighting is great with her complexion
November 29, 2012 at 10:36 pm
Beautiful girl :) Love the teal and purple along with the grey! I’d love to see you rocking that look in the city. Cheers! :D
November 29, 2012 at 11:29 pm
I’ve seen a lot of girls go from city-chic to runway-chic– and really, it is in the way that they hold themselves– and she’s got it (don’t get me wrong, I love her outfit as well; she does the fashionable Nashvillians justice). The coy smile, the straight-backed confidence /almost/ disguised by the modest squeezing of the hands. She knows just how to enchant/ charm the audience without seeming haughty.
November 30, 2012 at 3:14 am
Love her outfit with the beautiful surrounding!!
November 30, 2012 at 3:23 am
Stunning natural beauty!!
I miss you Avery♡
November 30, 2012 at 6:00 am

Daisy Roadster and Coco
November 30, 2012 at 8:55 am
Ballerinas and thick tights are good for teenagers, let’s hope she’ll find the perfect type of shoes when she grows up to finish this rich autumn colour exercise.
November 30, 2012 at 2:48 pm
They are good for adults too. I love both those things. The outfit would be just as perfect at any age.
November 30, 2012 at 10:52 am
Beautiful color combination I love it!
Tobia St Germain
November 30, 2012 at 11:30 am
Her style is so simple yet evokes so much thought for the weather, colors and the scene is gorgeous as well. It really does give me hope to see young adults taking care of themselves especially when you see so many are giving up.
November 30, 2012 at 2:08 pm
i love it <3 i'm really looking for my own new unique style. i hope i find some impressions here…
LOVE the indie-chic look. Between the clothes and the gaze, this lovely young lady could just as well be walking down the streets of Paris as she is the streets of Nashville. Would love to see a hint of matte gold at or above the neck (by scarf, necklace, wristlet OR earring–not all) to pick up on the playful gold of her shoes. Still, very well done—a great and stylish example for gal pals transitioning from teens to young adults.
November 30, 2012 at 4:09 pm
I love how she keeps her outfit innocent and age appropriate with ballet flats. So many teenagers her age are wearing platforms and sexy heels. I love this shot!
November 30, 2012 at 8:33 pm
What a beautiful, elegant young woman!!!
November 30, 2012 at 9:23 pm
wow! love the colors of her outfit a promising future for fashion!

Adorable! I love all the colors together.
December 2, 2012 at 12:48 pm
She is absolutely stunning! Perfect natural beauty and sense of style. She would make a perfect model and inspiration for girls. She looks classy and sophisticated. Her look gives so much depth and power to the picture. No heavy makeup and high heels, this picture proves how beautiful girls her age COULD be
December 5, 2012 at 12:33 am
Amazing ! Does anybody know where she gets that lovely coat from?
December 6, 2012 at 10:47 am
So excited to see a fellow Nashvillian on The Sartorialist! We like fashion here :)
December 9, 2012 at 11:59 am

Great capture of our city. I enjoyed all of the pictures from Nashville.
