while I love the tradition of cyber monday, i feel that it’s just that, a tradition. I’ve found some fine deals on things that I already wanted for the holiday but unfortunately nothing else that pops out at me. It seems easy to get caught up in the excitement of the day but really, most of the sales I’ve seen aren’t all that special or enticing, perhaps these days we still think there’s a cache attached to Cyber Monday and Black Friday.
I purchased a coat and two handbags (one for myself, one as a Xmas gift) from Canadian brand Rudsak. They specialize in leather items and the quality is to die for!
They are offering 40% off on Cyber Monday. http://www.rudsak.com http://www.rudsakstore.com/
Els, that’s a pretty bold challenge! I don’t shop often, I design many of my clothing but when I do shop it’s thrift or vintage. I’d like to try out this challenge on a specific item of clothing like scarves… Thanks for sharing!
I’d love to design my own clothes, I’ve started to adjust and upcycle what I have know to get more wear out of them, but the challenge is not to buy new material either, so I am working with what I have (clothes and material). However after this year I’d love to design and make most of my own clothes. You may also like this site: http://thedressimade.com/
wow, it is the first time I hear about the Free Fashion Challenge, it is awsome! Thanks for sharing, I will spread this idea among my friends, and seriously think about doing it myself.
I started my own tradition where I don’t shop for clothes or shoes or anything fashion related for one season. Its hard to choose which season to do this for however!
So you have done this already, not buying for one season. What would be your motivation to choose a particular season (summer/winter) for not shopping and what did you get out of it?
I love their clothes..can’t afford any now but nice, nice
This is where I work and we are having 50% off – I actually set the sale to go til I turn it off so until 9amPST tomorrow. We make everything right in SF http://www.lizpalacios.com/
the best sales are when there’s nothing going non. During the holiday they had the same sales they have been having all week. they just word them differently complete scam lol.

Cyber Monday doesn’t really affect me too much. A ton of brands that have discounts today aren’t really worth the hassle. Left Field NYC is pretty underground (at least in my opinion) that’s offering 15% off with the code LFBF15 with some pretty cool pieces that anyone can add to their collection. Hope this helped and also hoping to run into you soon here in NYC!
I actually think it’s a great opportunity for those like me who don’t live in big cities. Almost every online shop has free shipping today, so I went to Stylebop and found this: http://www.stylebop.com/es/product_details.php?menu1=designer&menu2=&menu3=102&id=372131, a black wool coat from the new collection of See by Chloé, one of my favourites. When I saw it, it was love at first sight, overall because I always wear black. It’s like an addiction. It’s such a pity that I can’t afford it!
Hope you all can find something, I’ll buy some t-shirts at Monki to fulfill the emptiness that piece of perfection left in my heart.
I’ve been admiring these bags from Moop for quite some time and they are having a 10% sale today (with code WITHGRATITUDE). Sadly, I only have money for absolutely essential items … like food. : ) http://www.moopshop.com/collections/all
Cyber Monday is when a lot of shopping sites (not just fashion, but electronics and basically everything) goes on sale in time for the holiday season. Some of the sales just last the day, but a lot of them start before (like on Black Friday) and continue on. It’s kind of a marketing thing. It’s so very American.
Thanks for this post! It inspired me me to check on a pair of Won Hundred shoes I’ve been eyeing since July. Had it not been for your comments, I would not have gone to this site to find them… finally….at 50% off. Score! Yes, less is more. https://www.solestruck.com/
Don’t know if this counts as underground but Alabama Chanin is having a Cyber Monday Sale… They have such beautiful things and are an inspiring business to boot. http://www.alabamachanin.com/
I wish I knew of some undergroud websites. When it comes to Cyber Monday, I find that the best deals come from places like Amazon. But for fashion, Romwe is doing a pretty decent sale.
Not underground at all, but the best sale I’ve seen was Ralph Laurent Rugby, 30% off regular items and an extra 50% off sale if I remember correctly.
I always find they’re good for basics with a little bit of a twist, especially mixing men’s and women’s wear… even if they’re not the most innovative brand.
I hadn’t heard about that… too bad. Maybe with the new-ish Denim & Supply line it was spread too thin. I hope they have a big blow-out though before they do close, would be good to stock up on some staple items
Wow, interesting to see so many comments here about not having the money to take advantage of the sales. It really IS a tough economy. At least I’m alone.
The Corner is doing 30% off on everything.. But only if you are on the mailing list it seems and clicking from the email announcing the sale. The discount applies to items that are already marked down. Try the link below but not sure if it will work:
I snapped up a pair of wine red suede gianvitto rossi heels which I have been thinking about since I saw a girl wearing sthg similar on this blog a couple of months ago.
I think this may be slightly underground – one of my fiance’s favorite LA based jewelry designers, Marie Todd, has a big sale the day after Cyber Monday (tomorrow) and I believe it goes for an entire week. Looks like 50% off everything. She has a fantastic candle line too. Xmas gifts here I come!! http://www.marietodd.com
Well this was funny. I price shopped for a stovetop stainless milk steamer last Wed, then again on Saturday and today. Prices were way UP from last Wed. I found for $60 on Wed, and the lowest on Sat and today was $65 all the way up to $129 for the same brand and model. Hmmmm……
A killer designer t-shirt shop in New Orleans, which just launched a special holiday tee, is offering free domestic shipping from their Etsy shop w/ code ‘Monday26′ http://www.etsy.com/shop/skipnwhistle
Have you heard of http://www.shop.com/ignite? They offer up to 50% cashback on everything. There are 2500 deals uploaded daily and for cyber monday there were a ton, especially through shopbop, nordstrom, etc. I even got a cheap plain ticket from expedia. (It’s basically an online mall)
ps. I love your site, I check it obsessively twice a day.
I stocked up on body wash at Anthropologie over the weekend. I decided in advance that I would buy only toiletries, I have enough clothes and shoes. I however cannot get enough soap. It was marked down from $24 to $6 – I bought 6 bottles !
Had been eyeing a Billy Reid coat for some weeks now, debating on whether or not to splurge @ Mr. Porter. I signed on yesterday to admire – and found that it was 50% off. Then, when checking out, I forgot that I had store credit from a pair of jeans I returned earlier this year. Ended up getting a great piece for about 200 bucks!
Hello! A bit late but wanted to share a site: http://www.storets.com. Don’t know if it is underground in NY but in the Netherlands, I can guarantee you, it is.
