I love this shot, in which I see an illustration of how the adaptation of a suit-style jacket to the body can become a part of feminine style. As an aspiring “sartorialista” (if the female counterpart could be named in Italian as well as the French “sartorialiste”), I can’t help noticing that the suit and its accessories are the basis for a really great discussion about what style means, that belongs almost exclusively to menswear. The discussion of female style usually has a completely different set of references.
Hooray for the “shrunken jacket” recently mastered by certain designers! But how often does something as small as a pocket square make a woman’s look come together? I’m envious!
In that spirit I love the placement of the top button which this woman has deployed expertly. Her suit has a life of it’s own–it’s not reduced to a concept like “androgyny” (nothing against androgyny, though). Brava.
I believe that if you live in NYC as I do, as opposed to just visiting, you wouldn’t think of so much dirt-prone white. She looks great…but not for long!
One of my favorite NYC jokes: Q – Do you know why New Yorkers always wear black? A – They’re just waiting for something darker to come along! – JCH
love the all white! her skin looks beautiful with it! can’t believe she is wearing it on a rainy day…if i did that the bottom of my pants would be all muddy!
There is nothing more stunning than white. You can put a woman in a red dress…you can wrap a hot pink pashmini around your neck…one could even wear a plunging to the belly neckline…but in my opinion, the woman in white will draw the eye fifty times over. Paint that white into a menswear inspired suit or tux and you’re shot gorgeously by The Sartorialist. Brilliant how the most ‘non-color’ color can be so sexy, stylish and eye-catching. Simply beautiful…
the white beauty! gotta love it!! the gold buttons on that suit-style jacket add to the polished look, and give it an extra touch of elegance. All enhanced by her tone of skin and body. great shot!
She probably had a car waiting for her. When you’re rich you can wear outrageously uncomfortable or impractical things like that because there’s a car waiting to whisk you away to wherever

One thing for sure: she is gutsy. To wear white on a rainy day and with such a flair… not for everyone.

looks like someone you would give up your umbrella to for sure. And split a couple bottles of red with and see where it all leads. Great Style.
