Am I right in assuming that’s a jacket with a capelet effect? If so, I’d wear it happily–it’s fabulous!–but not with the pants. That’s a lot of grapes for one look.
I love that she is wearing it together. Such a lovely print would be wasted on just wearing the jacket with a solid color or even a complimentary print. Matching is just so much more awesome then things that “go together” sometimes. That would be a cop out. Although the pants would look pretty great with a bright colored blouse or a black one.
Her make up and outgrown Louise Brooks bob are perfect for the whole thing.
I think the grapes and leaves are a pretty cool alternative to a floral print. All the horizontal lines across her back break it up a little bit and add depth, and the casual hair helps too. All in all, this is one seriously cool lady!
Wow! You can’t miss her in a crowd. It reminds me of a Matador uniform, a fruity Matador. Interesting photo as ever but the print is too much for me. Beautiful discreet bag though!
Wow! A print not for the faint of heart…and yet, she carries it very well. The cut and style of the suit is awesome with its capelet-style jacket, plus I think the muted accessories and her won coloring help too.
I love all this matching top and pants business this season, I’ve got to sew me some when I get home. I’ve got the fabric, the patterns, I just need the time!
Printed suits like this put an enormous smile on my dial! I don’t think it’s too much at all, I wished everyone enjoyed putting as much effort and energy into how they dress themselves everyday like this cool cat.
KENZO is big on grapes. You can find their Vans in white grapes or black grapes like the dress in the picture.
They have also released a summer dress in white with grapes.
Even traditionally print-loving cultures don’t do the same print head to toe…Is fashion really this desperate for novelty? There are printed jeans on sale all over my city after only weeks on the racks, and the same thing will happen with all the fluoro. I feel quite despairing we don’t think through our impulsive “must-have” purchases to what happens after we have tired of them, measured now in only weeks. Once we bought classics and durable basics and only the wealthy bought novelties. Now we can all have novelties but they won’t be inherited by our daughters, they’ll be landfill. I mean no disrespect to the lovely subject of this picture, it has just triggered a sobering chain of thoughts.
I’ve pondered this question about novelty in general for some time. I have yet to figure out the right answer, but I find some solace in the fact that what we’re looking at is style. There will always be prints, patterns, and novelty fabrics. What keeps it all refreshing and a bit exciting is how a person chooses to interpret fashion into their everyday life.
this i s a great print – i would wear the both pieces together too – no compromise – no trying to make it into a “safe” look. this is bold and perfect for everyday! in my opinion..
Amazing! I hope one day I’ll have the guts to wear a beautifull suit like this. Nice to wear seperate, but sure nice to wear as a full outfit as well. I think if her hair was slightly shorter she looked perfect.
Does anyone know who the designer is?
All I want now is stuff that matches and prints I can wear in to peaces together. Long live the pant suit. Wearing something like that means that the woman is confident and knows how to stand out beautifully. I love that about her.
