I am totally in love now.
Love this shot, especially the beanie. Its going to be all about beanies guys!
November 20, 2012 at 2:41 pm
It has already been all about the beenie for quite some time! Years! Still good though. Make sure you wear it right, like him. Don’t over do it by pulling it too far back or tucked in. Confidence and structure, pretty much right on top of the head, very little tilt, above the brow, is key!

Very true. The beanie has become a style staple, almost passively so. This picture says as much about style as it does about functionality. I wear a beanie just about every day of fall/winter. Don’t leave home without it!

Love his outfit!!! I really like the wool hat
November 14, 2012 at 2:16 pm
Dang I wish I had the confidence to rock a satchel like that.
November 14, 2012 at 2:22 pm
So nice pic. Really great job.
November 14, 2012 at 2:23 pm
Raleigh Sports! Best bike ever!
November 14, 2012 at 2:25 pm
Hooray for a man who matches his wheels.
November 14, 2012 at 2:28 pm
He certainly has that New York charm we know and love.
Keep it real,

November 14, 2012 at 2:39 pm
can’t beat a cute boy on a bicycle.
November 14, 2012 at 2:48 pm
I’m all about effortless style and this is it.
November 14, 2012 at 2:50 pm
Dirty hair? That hat is making me itch.
November 14, 2012 at 2:55 pm
I like the angles of the shot, and the use of the lines from the railing, building and bike tire – interesting to look at.
But I have to say, this is one of the 90s looks that I’m really not looking forward to having back on the streets…perhaps I’ve outgrown seeing the appeal of a grungy/scruffy guy?

Such an interesting man! He looks like Heath Ledger
Love his look..and his face ;)
November 14, 2012 at 3:02 pm

Love this knitted hat with his hair…
Really liked the setting!
November 14, 2012 at 3:10 pm
Love the grungy look
November 14, 2012 at 3:14 pm
This guy looks like a thug. Conversely, Italian men look charming and elegant, if sometimes a bit effete. SO SICK OF GRUNGE!
November 15, 2012 at 1:57 pm
Trust me he’s no thug!
Great style, love the beanie and bag!
November 14, 2012 at 3:15 pm
Love his bag and hat. What a cool guy!
November 14, 2012 at 3:18 pm
Let’s be honest, this is just some hipster dude (I’ve got nothing against hipsters). I like the bag and red shoelaces too, but, come on. The best thing about this photo is the bicycle. Long live everyday cycling!
November 14, 2012 at 3:23 pm
beautiful face, great outfit for the city :)

He looks gorgeous but if this was here in Amsterdam I would be wondering if he was thinking about stealing the bike.
He is so cute. Love his long hair
November 14, 2012 at 3:33 pm
A surfer by Summer!
A cold man taming his lion mane by Winter!
He reminds me of…me.
He don’t have that long bushy goodness for nothing!
Warm ears are nice…
November 14, 2012 at 3:48 pm
cool dude :)
November 14, 2012 at 4:25 pm
I love his long wild hair! Great picture.
November 14, 2012 at 4:47 pm
Wow, I think I’m finally over this hipster outdoorsy look. It just looks so anachronistic in the city to wear hiking boots etc. Clearly, he’s a great=looking guy. But it’s so uniform: beanie, leather bag, boots, engineer jacket. I dunno.
November 15, 2012 at 2:25 pm
ana-chrona-whaaa?? had to google that one!
do you go around throwing that in your diction?
But I’m also kind of over it…especially here in Berlin.

Immediately reminded of Monty Python’s “I’m A Lumberjack” song. Especially this verse…
He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps.
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women’s clothing
And hangs around in bars?!
He’s a lumberjack, and he’s okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.
November 14, 2012 at 6:00 pm
I call this look “Brooklyn Cornelius”.
It is a reference to the outdoorsman “Yukon Cornelius” of Rankin/Bass stop-motion cartoon of “Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer”…
November 14, 2012 at 6:08 pm
oh, I love him
November 14, 2012 at 6:15 pm
This is a photograph that is a record of a very interesting change in the world where long hair and a purse was in the past just for woman but now it can be seen also as naturally masculine.
That is why street photography such as The Sartorialist is so important and how Mr. Schuman is the August Sander of our time.

Love the tones in this image. The dark moodiness with bright spots of light and colour. So great.
November 14, 2012 at 10:28 pm
I can unicycle too, have been for my whole life, wonder if he has ridden a giraffe, if anyone knows what I am talking about he he not the animal …
November 15, 2012 at 12:39 am
I don’t understand why someone would call that look grungy. Anyone seen Kurt Cobain carry that sort of a satchel? Love the composition, I can almost feel the breeze.
Personally, I love guys that can rock long hair. Why are we all so fixated on a man LOOKING like a man? A guy is allowed to have any degree of femininity that he chooses to have… I think we tend to give girls more fashion leverage. And that’s got to change. (And I am a girl)
November 15, 2012 at 2:01 am
He looks like Australian singer Matt Corby.
Sexy, but a bit scruffy. I like your dapper suited men on here more!

November 15, 2012 at 2:16 am

November 15, 2012 at 3:45 am
Is that matt Corby – the amazing Australian singer???
November 15, 2012 at 8:12 am
I was thinking the same thing! He looks just like him, it must be him!
He’s amazing, love his music. And style.
November 15, 2012 at 4:08 am

November 15, 2012 at 4:24 am

nobody touches the bear. This pic is straight out of Jcrew, love the look, and the boy
November 16, 2012 at 12:01 am
He must surely know he’s got a good face to rock that kind of hair! And are those natural highlights? And why even keep the hair? What kind of statement is he trying to make? It is almost annoying, but I’ve got to say I respect it anyway because it certainly seems to set him apart.
November 16, 2012 at 5:49 am
November 16, 2012 at 6:20 am
it’s Julien Doré, a french singer!
November 16, 2012 at 11:17 am
I see him at saturdays, I think he is part of that gang.
November 16, 2012 at 11:20 am
Def a saturdays boy

November 19, 2012 at 12:53 am
Maybe he’s just a normal guy, doing an everyday thing. And had the misfortune to wind up here amongst such a judgmental lot. Sheesh.
November 19, 2012 at 11:07 am
Sexy! (And mysterious)
November 19, 2012 at 4:26 pm
Seattle, circa 1991.
November 19, 2012 at 11:18 pm
Grunge? That bag is not grunge, some of these comments are so far out there. Anyways very attractive guy. Love this style even though I do agree it seems to be popping up all over but it still looks good.
November 20, 2012 at 5:54 am
hi, dis guy is welll fit mate!
November 23, 2012 at 12:19 pm
oh, wow. I love it. so sexy.
November 24, 2012 at 7:21 am
I found this pic before on Pinterest and used it for my blog were I post weekly inspiration posts for guys.
This guy would be my ‘perfect man’ (if we are talking about the looks).
Such a fan of long hair and beanies! Please Dutch guys.. get inspired by this! haha.
November 27, 2012 at 11:58 am
Is he the French singer, Julien Doré ?
November 29, 2012 at 9:08 pm
I don’t think grunge at all when I see this, it actually looks fairly neat besides his hair/facial hair. it looks more like messy hipster compared to those other “hipsters” who have every detail in place. I also find this look really boring, I feel like i’ve seen it 2575847545 times, but i do like the hair
December 19, 2012 at 8:42 am
I look at this picture and see all the boys I went to high school with in the early 90s. Despite the leather satchel, this is still a very grunge look which is not a bad thing. Very few men can really pull off that length of hair and look good these days.
January 12, 2013 at 1:51 pm
why are people looking to have their minds blown every time they come on a fashion site like this one? have you fashion lovers not picked up on the idea of nuance, subtlety and how looks transition into every day life? Scott has captured something that has great elements that make the man and what he’s wearing stand out (i.e. the bag), but allows enough breathing room for the reality of the every day – in other words, how people take special pieces, or trends, or whatever, and actually go about their business and days wearing them.
I love the photograph, the look on the man’s face, a hint of his lifestyle with the bicycle and shoes… And the bag just stands out, simply, elegantly, ruggedly. It’s not grudge from before, it’s not a prediction or major comment on where fashion is going in the future… It’s just this man, today, captured in something that is alluring to some, maybe not to others, but most importantly, to him. C’est justement cette simplicité qui est exquise.
