The colours on my laptop are not always reliable. Is that sweater a plum purple? I was delighted to see a lot of plum-range purples appearing in women’s wear last autumn and disappointed that the colour wasn’t being used for men’s wear. This gentleman gives me hope that maybe it is this year.
That’s Peter Harris from Lane Crawford in Hong Kong. They have 3 amazing stores in HK and of course they carry my bags. He’s a snappy dresser. Classic with a flair. He’s Australian. Nice combination of purple and navy.
Like the sense this gives of a working jacket; that is, something stylish that one can wear again and again, even in wet weather (as here), as a kind of uniform….
really charming and classy with a touch of dandiness. i don’t quite like the glasses, the shape makes him look a bit sad. dear sartorialist, apropos glasses, it would be nice to have your views and pictures on fashionable ones.. thanks
i vaguely recall seeing this color combo in a ralph lauren look from a while back… can’t remember if it was an advertisement or something i saw in a store… or perhaps just a navy blue item of his with the ralph lauren purple tag on it. :-) either way, it’s lovely and elegant. i think the tiny bit of pale blue is what makes it.
the sweater in lieu of scarf is a nice touch and so much more functional b/c you can put the sweater on later. I like that he’s done up both jacket buttons – put the garment to work!
His look makes me really happy. I feel as though I missed a memo about sweaters being tied over the shoulders being cool again. I live in San Francisco, and I have seen more and more men rocking this look. It has felt almost like a fashion version of a flash mob.

i’ve always been wary of pairing blue with purple. so it’s great to know that i just needed the “right” shade of each color to compliment each other.

Or else another excuse to go to Paris.

I wish the jacket buttons were gold, they’d tie the look together perfectly.

He’s cute in that intelligent, shy, secretly-romantic, professor, preppy, dorky kind of way.

Oh he looks so sweet. And I love it when men aren’t afraid of a little color.

Agree with Anon at 5.22am, the colours do make me think of Ralph Lauren. Looks good – subtle.
