Armani…? For sure he would be the best that could happen to Armani… but would Armani be the best choice for him?
November 6, 2012 at 2:43 am
is armani ready for this kind of change? i doubt it…
November 5, 2012 at 2:10 pm
Really wish we knew Scott! Looking for you to answer this one!
But i do think he’ll be missed at Balenciaga.
November 5, 2012 at 2:14 pm
Armani can definitely use his skills!
November 5, 2012 at 2:28 pm
I think it would be really interesting to see what he can do to revive Pierre Cardin or even Courrèges. That said, NG’s design sensibility might be too similar the DNA of these two houses. Either way, I wish him bonne chance! Can’t wait to see what happens when the dust settles.

November 5, 2012 at 2:54 pm
Why do you think about Armani? Do you have some updates we do not have. I hope he would open his own brand, it will sound amazing.
November 5, 2012 at 3:02 pm
I think he should start his own line!
November 5, 2012 at 3:04 pm
Haider Ackermann at Balenciaga ?

Ooh that’s interesting… I feel like he could do really well there. The colors and tailoring he’s so beautiful at with Balenciaga’s aesthetic…. Now I want to see it!

I can’t imagine Balenciaga without him! I worked for them from 04-07 and was constantly inspired, his aesthetic fit perfectly to bring the house into the present, while consistently and cleverly referencing both the past and the future … I think we would all love to see him have his own line for sure. I think for Ghesquiére it is definitely time!
How exciting, my fingers are firmly crossed!

i supposed , he took a very good decision to left BALENCIAGA .. i know he is very creative but , in the recent saison THE collection was just so complicated in the fashion …. the brand need the real fashion, the real MUST HAVE , to cop of the competition … how many person in the street wear BALENCIAGA???? , even in the fashion sphère ????? after 15 years i think it’s very intelligent to know , he is not in streetwear reality … must give way to other …
VIVE C. ROTFIELD ,
he going to YSL…. last SLIMANE concept was desater….( out of reality)

I TOTALLY agree with you, the boss must have been looking at the sales at Nina Ricci or Jill Sander and saying HEY!!! We are lmoosing money no one is buying these dinosaur outfits!! At the end of the day that stuff has to be bought and worn, I cannot stand fashion that is not geared towards being consumed, there are lots of great people with great style out there this blog is the proof, so cater to them, Raf Simmons did a marvellous job at Sanders, I think the ambiance at Dior may not bring the best out in him though, really creative people are generally quite sensitive and sincere creatures, when they are not just splurging their ego on the runway, I agree that Slimane was a total disaster at YSL, but then the problem is do the decsion makers have the taste and sensibility to choose the right people and then traet them properly? What happened to the poor designer at Balmain? He landed up with a nervous breakdown while he probably got stabbed in the back by his assistant that knows what to “do” with the boss…………. its a ruthless cut throat business at the end of the day…………but we stiil love fashion with a passion right?

You don’t leave such a beautiful company after so much time, to go to an other one. i hope he starts his own line! As for who will replace him, good luck to the new guy, they will have humongous shoes to fill!
November 5, 2012 at 4:15 pm
I wish he had stayed at Balenciagea!!
Like Vanessa: I can’t imagine Balenciaga without him !!

November 5, 2012 at 5:06 pm
Armani ? No way
I am hoping he goes for his own company – I cant see any other option for him – which house is currently looking for a designer at the moment ?
Maybe YSL is already dumping Heidi ?? HAHAHAHA
I am dying for more info as to what is going on ….
November 5, 2012 at 5:24 pm
Haider Ackermann for Balenciaga! Best idea ever…
Raf Simons would have been more suited to Balenciaga as his recent collection for Dior was a disaster!

November 7, 2012 at 7:51 am
AGREE!! and yet his last coll for Sanders was pure beauty……….
November 5, 2012 at 5:26 pm
Could that be an explanation that why the new Balenciaga fragrance ad is so ugly designed???
November 5, 2012 at 9:13 pm
I wish I knew, because wherever Ghesquière goes, I follow.
November 5, 2012 at 10:43 pm
To be honest, I just don’t want to think about it. Nicolas was such a big part of Balenciaga to me and still is. Hopefully he will continue his career as a brilliant designer, otherwise I’m just losing hope in humanity.
November 6, 2012 at 2:09 am
haider ackerman or phoebe philo for balenciaga.
November 6, 2012 at 2:54 am
Armani? It would be great for King Giorgio, but I don’t think it would be the same for Ghesquière. I hope he will start his own line.
November 6, 2012 at 4:07 am
Why not at Schiaparelli?
November 6, 2012 at 1:48 pm
I also bet on Schiaparelli!! :)
November 12, 2012 at 6:54 pm
I thought of that as well when I knew he was leaving. The Schiaparelli comeback has been long announced but seems to never take off.

November 6, 2012 at 10:23 am
Hopefully his own company. Would love that. And H. Ackerman to fill his role at Bal.

November 6, 2012 at 12:42 pm
Such a shame he’s leavening, he made such incredible things!
November 6, 2012 at 1:47 pm
I bet on Schiaparelli!! The press release was saying that it wanted to have a new adventure and they haven’t announced yet who will be the new creative director
Even if they said that it will be John Galliano
November 6, 2012 at 9:43 pm
I think what he has contributed to fashion with Balenciaga is magic. He re-interprets the voluminous jackets impeccably and make futuristic fashion wearable. Balenciaga may not belong to the masses however Nicholas creative input has opened many doors to high street fashion. His creative mind is always a step ahead and even though his reign in Balenciaga will soon be over. He will rise again and you better believe it.
November 7, 2012 at 1:37 am
He should definitely head to YSL, I think he could bring a different but amazing aesthetic there. Honestly, I don’t think Slimane is doing anything good there now.
November 7, 2012 at 7:24 am
i agree , and i hope it will true …lol
November 7, 2012 at 9:37 am
Armani, really? I don’t think so. His own brand absolutely. He is one of the most talented designers of our days.
November 9, 2012 at 7:39 pm
he’s absolutely going to go to Schiaparelli…
November 10, 2012 at 11:47 pm
A theory I heard was Ghesquière to Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs to succeed Lagerfeld at Chanel. Far fetched but entertaining thought.
November 21, 2012 at 4:42 pm
This is a really interesting idea! I actually heard the following:
Marc Jacobs to Dior
Haider Ackermann to Chanel
I’m slightly bemused at some of the new partnerships and honestly think some haven’t worked (Hedi at YLS and Raf at Dior) but I guess time will tell and future collections are greatly anticipated. There are a multitude of amazing designers who could fill Nicolas’s place at Balenciaga, personally I would like to see maybe JP Gaultier…he proved to the critics that he could design for the understated luxurious house of HERMES and left us speechless (in a good way) after every collection. I would also like to see John Galliano’s take on the house, it would be so comforting to see him make a comeback!

I am hoping Ghesquière will start his own brand. I could see Christopher Kane or Thomas Tait filling his role at Balenciaga.
November 18, 2012 at 12:56 am
Yes, Christopher Kane
November 24, 2012 at 6:42 pm
Armani would be like career suicide! I vote for:
his own under LVMH and Kane as the successor… not that I like Kane but, now that he suddenly quit Versus, what else could it be? Is just like when Raf Simons presented that pink collection for Jil Sander; it looked like a remastered piece from a Dior archive!
