Striking. Compelling. Bold. I do love this – especially her shoes.
October 24, 2012 at 9:45 am
Yes, especially the shoes.
The 3 F's

The shoes are the perfect tough of badass, and I love how they complete the look. But the scarf is what gets me – this girl took the time to dress herself completely in black, but then wrapped herself in a soft, white scarf before she left the house. I guess even the most empowered badass women out there want something soft to lean their head against.
October 26, 2012 at 11:23 am
What a beautiful summery, The3F’s! Thank you!
October 24, 2012 at 4:14 pm
The shoes especially impress me and she looks so warm and comfortable!
October 27, 2012 at 12:43 am
I did a little googling and found the shoes — they are Cheap Mondays!

I’m sure it gets really cold in Poland, but that scarf?
October 24, 2012 at 10:15 am
Oh it is cold here, believe me:/
October 26, 2012 at 12:54 am
It was frosty day. Poznań is one of the most warm city in Poland.
October 24, 2012 at 9:21 am
pretty hot! :)
This would be my thing. Strong & practical, yet classy.
October 24, 2012 at 9:22 am
I love everything about this photo, the neutral palette of the outfit as well as the background. Her hair cut is striking and adds boldness to the calm and powerful gaze.
October 24, 2012 at 9:23 am
Great look! Those shoes are cool looking and I always love a knit coat.

loving every bit of this!
What a beautiful portrait and setting!
October 24, 2012 at 9:30 am
I love all: hair, big scarf, maxipull, gloves and shoes. Maybe it’s a minority opinion, but I prefer photos of “ordinary” people or of people that seem not involved in the fashion business. Not completely perfect is better.
October 24, 2012 at 12:05 pm
I agree totally! I love her look, and I like people who does not dress in designer clothes from head to toe, but use their own imagination. I love her hair, her gloves, the all black with a white maybe home made scarf. This is a great picture!
October 24, 2012 at 8:53 pm
I agree it’s called style not fashion
awesome!! very intense!
October 24, 2012 at 9:33 am
The simplicity of the black and white combined with the androgyny here is gorgeous.

Beautiful black outfit! I love the touch of leather with the gloves!
October 24, 2012 at 12:35 pm
I agree. It’s a cool, bold winter look anyway, but the gloves give it a perfect finishing touch.
October 24, 2012 at 9:50 am
What a striking photo! Love her piercing eyes against a backdrop of cozy fabrics. The boots are killer too!
October 24, 2012 at 9:51 am
Very common to wear just a piece of white on a all total black look but it always so fashion to see it.
October 24, 2012 at 9:58 am

October 24, 2012 at 10:12 am
LOVE THIS LOOK!
October 24, 2012 at 10:14 am
Incredible! I like the whole look….especially her scarf, and her bold hair. Question- are those boots DIY? They almost look like Docs w/ platforms added. Interesting.
October 25, 2012 at 3:08 am
the shoes are made by trippen in germany. Take a look at their site, they have all kinds of unique shoes ands boots.
October 24, 2012 at 10:19 am
Such a refreshing take on edgy, yet a cozy look! Love that she doesnt look girlish!
October 24, 2012 at 10:20 am
The awesomeness of this photo is the entire composition. I could stare at it for hours. The woman’s outfit (with the white knit scarf just popping out) contrasting with the darkness of the rest of her outfit and the street scene is just behind cool.
October 24, 2012 at 10:21 am
Scott, love the way you capture the architecture of the building in this shot.
October 24, 2012 at 10:31 am
i like her strong expression – very intense.

I like her style! I really like her short hair too
October 24, 2012 at 2:24 pm
The difference is in the directness with which they face the camera. They don’t feel obliged to smile. It gives them strength and mystery.

She is gorgeous!
Love the firm, masculine like look!

It’s outstanding to see pictures of people from my country in here. This mysterious fog in Poznań sets great enviroments for photos. In addiction to some comments – it’s true that we have maaaaaaany beauties on the street, and fancy looking people, bur for sure (what I’ve observed) we are not pioneers in street-fashion style. The vast majority of girls (mostly) are copying one particular fashion look and don’t have their own peculiar style.
I hope some day you’ll be ale to visit Poland again!
October 24, 2012 at 5:48 pm
I don’t mean this to come across as insulting, as it is merely a taste thing, but to me these Poland shots have been your most interesting and compelling in a long while. I just don’t enjoy seeing the same people of the fashion set over and over again, who have access to copious designer goods. These women you have depicted are striking, bold-looking, and working with pretty simple and accessible fashion. Love the shots!!
October 24, 2012 at 6:06 pm
Grats for chose Poznan. This is the best city in this country
October 24, 2012 at 6:07 pm
I LOVE the glimpse into Poland! I have never been there but really adore the Polish people that I know in America: intelligent, classy and pretty/handsome. Thank you for the window into the fashion of a place that I really don’t know.
October 24, 2012 at 6:37 pm
a fabulous black and white photo, in color! your vision is inspiring.
October 24, 2012 at 8:51 pm
Polish women are so interesting and intense in a very sexy way…..it doesn’t seem they try hard like so many other women u photograph,,,,it’s organic to them…i imagine u can have a conversation and it probably wouldn’t be about the latest shoe!!!
I am so tempted to give myself a buzz cut now. Don’t think my head is a nice as hers, but still.
October 24, 2012 at 8:56 pm
The streets look old with history…guess that one benefit Communism preserved
October 25, 2012 at 10:31 am
Loving all these photos from Poland–different takes on Europe we need to see!

October 25, 2012 at 7:35 am
I really like the pic. But what I appreciate the most is how your photos are a sort of eye-opener for me – how many different kind of beauty and creativity are out there. I agree with the comments that “ordinary people” shots are way more interesting – don’t get me wrong, I love me some Anna Dello Russo but I find the original street shots more inspirational. And, since I’m Polish, I’ll tell you that naturally Polish women are stylish in a very “unobvious” way although it’s true that many girls go for the trends and tend to be dressed in exactly the same clothes from the same shops but hey, they’ll get there eventually ;)
Style begins at forty
October 25, 2012 at 10:22 am
I like it!!!!
October 25, 2012 at 10:36 am
Very bold and very Polish… If there is such!
October 25, 2012 at 11:39 am
I really love the Poland series. The pictures you took there are in some way more real, more powerful, raw, strong. Maybe because of the grey sky, maybe because life is not always so easy in Poland, maybe because you pictured a different kind of people there. These pictures show that life is nog always great and people are not always happy. Great.
October 27, 2012 at 11:54 am
Absurd. Life in Poland is exactly the same like in any other place in Europe. We are not in 60s any more.
November 5, 2012 at 4:52 pm
I beg to differ. Catherine has a point. The Poland pictures do seem to have a different kind of models in them; those young women are not the fashionistas Scott so often portrays. And life is not exactly the same as “anywhere else” – we still have a bit of catching up to do in some (not all) respects. :) I wouldn’t attribute the lack of grins to the lack od happiness though. :)
October 9, 2013 at 9:45 am
I agree. I think it would be better to derive from our distinctness rather than try to make our cities and lifes look like they do in west Europe. I like our grey environment, I hate to see all the buildings being painted in yellows and oranges and our postcommunist architecture destroyed.
October 25, 2012 at 10:15 pm
Naturally stunning beauty! in a cold harsh setting with her intense gaze yet contrasted by the homey/cozy knits.
I love the focus point of the one flower button for a touch of femininity!
I adore this composition of many layers and Poland for it’s perfect background! Thank you
