Love how the shoes are so different from her clothing.

the trainers make the look more modern and relaxed, right? :)
October 6, 2012 at 5:28 pm
It works because of tewaybshe wears her feet – kookie stance.
October 6, 2012 at 5:30 pm
Sorry, my keyboard garbled that. It works because of the way she wears her feet.

The Oriental print on the jacket looks dandy, I also like the curious reaction from those in the backdrop.
October 5, 2012 at 8:14 pm
I agree! -I didn’t notice the expressions originally, but after a good look they just made the picture! I like her clothes, the oriental print is amazing and her shoes make me smile :)
October 5, 2012 at 5:43 pm
Love everything about this.

nice look and style
October 5, 2012 at 5:55 pm
I like the way the pink in the shoes brings out the pink in her blazer. But, I really hate seeing women in dress clothes and gym shoes – reminds me too much of the 1990s when I’d take the el to work everyday.

I definitely agree with Audrey on this one…women should be comfortable, but I think there are probably chic-er ways to go about it. But kudos to this woman for being so confident and careless…I’d wear trainers too if they got me those calves!

Totally didn’t expect the shoes. Hi Linda Fargo!
October 5, 2012 at 6:12 pm
Is this her final look? If so, it’s definitely innovative.. not sure I’ve seen much like this before!
Perfection! Captured the essential moment and such an amazing combination for an outfit! Very London!
October 5, 2012 at 6:14 pm
I don’t know what the name of the style but I like it.
Nice photo, I love the jacket, but not the shoes with this outfit!
October 5, 2012 at 6:19 pm
Everyone’s so fabulously attired…and I can’t stop smiling.
October 5, 2012 at 6:23 pm
Trainers? Seriously? Love the skirt!!
Love her jacket!
October 5, 2012 at 6:28 pm
The woman on the left caught my eye, maybe because she is more mature (for a change) but also because her outfit and hair cut are closer to my style.
October 5, 2012 at 6:34 pm
Love the clutch… driver, get out of the photo!
October 5, 2012 at 6:50 pm
She’s giving her feet a rest after a long day in heels.
Have you never seen this before? Have you never done that before?
Her eyes are up there. Look at them.
October 5, 2012 at 7:04 pm
And this is called fashion?
October 6, 2012 at 3:03 am
I don’t think think The Sartorialist’s page is about fashion. I always thought its about style! Style that works in someones opinion, and style that doesn’t work, anyway being interesting, working or not. I’ve been following this page for years, and this is only my conclusion.
I love the picture. It works very well all together, the jacket, her smile, her hair, her skirt and the trainers. Comfortable shoes is a sign of self confidence!
October 6, 2012 at 1:04 pm
No, comfortable shoes (in this case athletic shoes), are a sign of being too lazy or unimaginative to find another kind of comfortable shoe that would go much better with an otherwise great outfit.
October 5, 2012 at 7:38 pm
AAAWWWWW she’s so adorable. I love her look, the cool comfy shoes and luxurious fabrics with classic cut suit her personality so well. Matching the trainers to the silk (?) print jacket is her defining signature – so decadent, but so self assured.

love the contrast between the dress and the shoes!!
October 5, 2012 at 9:30 pm
It feels like the sneakers are the walking-to-work-cause-my-heels-are-painful kind of sneakers. Love the rest of the look though.

Very nice look! Love the print on this jacket…
October 5, 2012 at 10:36 pm
gym shoes really don’t work for another situation outside the gym…
October 6, 2012 at 1:08 pm
Exactly! Thank you! Gym shoes are… for a gym. Athletic shoes are… for doing something… athletic. Trainers are for… training. Dress shoes are… wait for it… DRESSING!
October 5, 2012 at 11:20 pm
love her big coat mixed with running shoes!
October 5, 2012 at 11:28 pm
scrolling down, her shoes were a nice surprise

At first I didn’t much like the sneakers with this look. But then I noticed that the 2 women in the background are wearing almost identical shoes. And the sneakers, which are so very different from everything around them, suddenly looked much better.

The more I look at this outfit, the less I like it.
October 6, 2012 at 3:01 am
Love the shoes? Go to Norway, everybody wears them!
October 6, 2012 at 3:19 am
Oh! How I wish you’d gotten a closer shot of the woman with the gray/silver hair in the background. She’s the classy, chic well dressed one in this photo. The young woman in the foreground is just a teaser distraction.
I hope one day you run into Christine Lagarde on the streets of Paris.
October 6, 2012 at 3:24 am
i love the whole dress and sneakers sort of look….the print on the jacket is lovely..but is it just me who noticed how both her feet are tilted like she might fall over..usually we tilt just one feet..
October 6, 2012 at 3:25 am
i love this coat!
October 6, 2012 at 3:33 am
I hope there are shoes in that wonderful jacket somewhere.
October 6, 2012 at 4:17 am
Love how classy she looks even if she’s wearing sneakers!
October 6, 2012 at 4:39 am
wow looks so stylish… a beautiful contrast between clothes and shoes
October 6, 2012 at 4:57 am
She looks great, trainers, reminds me of the early nineties. London, always kickin it with a pair of black trousers. When stepping out in New York had to be fur long fur, mad x

I quite like this trainers tendency. It’s creates a good break when you would usually expect heels. But will this last long ?

I don’t know if it’s intentional but I like the contrast between her shoes/look and that of the women behind her. She’s like, yeah I mix it up ladies.
October 6, 2012 at 6:37 am
What a colorful clothing! Great fabulous pics :)
October 6, 2012 at 6:39 am
My favourite kind of shoes
October 6, 2012 at 6:52 am
I think that an elegant woman should never wear sneakers
July 20, 2017 at 11:48 am
Haha! An elegant woman can wear whatever she wants. Elegance comes from inside, not outside. Again, people wear clothes, not the inverse.
October 6, 2012 at 6:54 am
For me the trainers with the outfit is a work of genius!

She totally rock her outfit! I wish I could look the same as her when I’ll wear that outfit! loved it!

Davies Street London is always best for shopping. I dont really like your shoes here though. Are out of fashion.

Surprisnig shoes! Great outfit!
October 6, 2012 at 9:30 am
I chuckled when I saw the runners as I scrolled down the photos, fully expecting killer sky-high heels. It’s refreshing to see someone in transit – and taking the comfortable route. (And replenishing the water.)
The jacket is fantastic, and I like the mixing of pattern with the leopard clutch.
I also dig the blonde woman’s outfit in the background. She puts me to shame with those shoes!
October 6, 2012 at 10:16 am
love her style!
October 6, 2012 at 10:33 am
Great pose :)
October 6, 2012 at 11:03 am
her outfit reminded me very much of susie bubble

October 6, 2012 at 5:18 pm
She looks so cool with the sneakers !!
October 7, 2012 at 2:15 am
Yes! Yes! Yes!
So much my style! I like it! I’ve already wear my sneakers in a such way sometimes ;))
Lovely shot! Beautiful colors!

October 7, 2012 at 11:14 am
I for one don’t know if I can pull off the sneakers with that outfit. Maybe of course because I am linking sneakers with athletic wear! However she is pulling it off lovely! I love the quilted skirt which is too die for! Everything just flows! Stunning!
October 7, 2012 at 2:31 pm
I just love her jacket and shoes. Crazy combination but very attracting.
October 7, 2012 at 10:08 pm
That is just so damn cute, I had to laugh!
October 7, 2012 at 11:25 pm
I am speechless. She wears it so damn well.
October 8, 2012 at 1:28 am
She looks very unique in that crazy outfit combination! But all in all she is pretty, no doubt about that!
October 8, 2012 at 1:43 am
I love her jacket; and the purse.
October 8, 2012 at 1:47 am
I love the background… the building and the curious reactions from other passers by. I love the picture.
October 8, 2012 at 2:21 am
I love the sudden shift in the acceptance of wearing sneakers in public. There is nothing more chic and effortless than a well dressed woman wearing unexpectedly flat shoes!
I think I’ll be buying a separate pair to the ones I wear to the gym when I try this out though (an excuse to buy more).

все хорошо, вот только обувь бы оставила для утренних пробежек…
October 9, 2012 at 7:51 am
You know, this works! And the sneakers are totally on purpose – why the hell would you want to walk around looking like everyone else at a fashion show in sky high heels anyway (assuming it is outside a show, judging by the presence of Ms Fargo in the background). Good jaarb girl!
October 9, 2012 at 1:52 pm
Wow, this girl oozes style and that’s why she can break all the rules.
October 9, 2012 at 3:49 pm
Uh, she looks like she’s commuting to work with her sneakers on. This isn’t some new, fashionably-awesome, “on-purpose” fashion trend. Women have been wearing sneakers with their dress clothes on the subway since “Working Girl.”
October 9, 2012 at 4:06 pm
I like it, I just wish she would’ve wore heels.
October 10, 2012 at 10:27 am
Cannot get enough of this.
October 10, 2012 at 5:51 pm
isn’t this agyness deyn’s sister? she looks great, whoever she is
October 13, 2012 at 4:57 am
One of the best Sartorialist photos, I never thought I would see running shoes teamed with such an outfit. Spectacular!
April 23, 2013 at 6:36 am
Mixing colors, patterns, and style themes (running sneakers with a nice dress/shirt, I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about this look. But one thing’s for sure, there was a thought behind it. This is not accidental style, and I love when people are expressive in how they dress :). Kudos to her!
