I miss the old days when people dressed up to be in public.
Where there was no such thing as glamour…it was just simply how they dressed…with pride.
XOXO
I totally agree with you. The style back then was impeccable. I like how people dressed up even only when they were around the house.

I love black and white photos as well as b/w movies from the 30′ to the 50′s. My husband and I watch as many american “films noirs” as we possibly can and we love the artistry of the photography with all the lights and shadows that adds to the feeling of the photo/movie.
About this photo : I’m envious of the easiness with which people dressed everyday without forgetting their hats and gloves. All these accessories gave an elegance to the gesture (men removing their hats, women their gloves, etc…) I should have lived in that era !
The Olympics have certainly changed. I doubt that you would have seen people with their national colours painted on them, walking around topless at the 1932 Olympics. Similarly, I don’t think you’re likely to see men in full suits with cravats at the 2012 Olympics.
Thanks all for your flattering comments. I neglected to identify my mother as the woman on the right. Her cousin is the man on the left, Sam Valadez and her best friend, Chiquita is in the middle. All were professional entertainers at Padua HIlls in Claremont, California. I have a few more taken throughout the ’30s. All evoke the impeccable style of the era.
Those WERE the days….love the style and wish we were wearing those fashions now…how cool to have photos of your family at the Olympics! One in a million….
Great Photo, back then jeans was not a wardrobe stabple, smart dress ruled. Its amazing how things change, even Royality were dressed down at London 2012. Im trying to move away from jeans to Chinos as a smarter alternative .
