Awesome shot! It feels like it’s really hot and sticky in this picture, and her hits of pinkish red just make all the more visceral. :)
July 30, 2012 at 10:57 am
I don’t think the socks would work for me if it’s really ‘hot and sticky’.
July 30, 2012 at 11:10 am
hot ans sticky light! :)
July 30, 2012 at 9:03 am
Beautiful and so unique compared to many of the other shots. Love the whole frame.
July 31, 2012 at 3:27 am
Yes! I love the flash of hot pink!
July 30, 2012 at 9:05 am
The warm pink of her skirt makes the shot for me. This is a great urban portrait!

Cool shot! Ive always been attracted to people wearing lots of color, maybe because I don’t. The hair is very original! And for some reason I love her sitting on wood, I love the contrast of the wood and the colors.
July 30, 2012 at 3:56 pm
nicely put; I completely agree, I’m the same.
and, at first, I thought, ok, here’s a lady that’s going about her day, but things make me cling to the photo. :)
July 30, 2012 at 9:08 am
A dramatic backdrop and outfit! You really couldn’t invent things like that, only in reality can one find such accidentally cool things.
July 30, 2012 at 9:10 am
Fierce, fierce! Love the color blocking and the twisted leggings are very original.

love this picture!!

A glorious photo of a fascinating person and place-the storefront’s texture comes through without detracting from the woman’s posture or dress.

beautiful brilliant colors!

Love the background
the blue horn
This photograph is just so vibrant. Great bag too!

This shot is so New York!
July 30, 2012 at 9:37 am
Not a huge fan of the look as there is a bit too much going on. However, I do like the photo – her outfit goes perfectly with the multi-coloured background. Good for her though – she is having fun with fashion.
July 30, 2012 at 9:38 am
Fabulous! I love the vibrant colors and the kinda gritty setting.
Nice picture, the colors are amazing:)
July 30, 2012 at 9:39 am
Question for the masses…does any ever NOT like a photo??? Seems like all you guys do is drool and post links to your blogs…
July 30, 2012 at 9:41 am
The lady and the environment…such a coherence!
I love the artistic road that your photos have taken!
July 30, 2012 at 9:45 am
Amazing photo, the light is perfect!
July 30, 2012 at 9:46 am
Gritty, unique and utterly New York.
July 30, 2012 at 9:49 am
It’s Reign Apiim Artis, she’s lovely! :)
The only thing that would have made this picture more complete would have been if this orange-skirt lady had pulled out some knitting WIP from her massive bag. I know that’s what I would have done. What’s a smartphone if there isn’t a project to accompany it? There’s only so much checking of email that can be done. Otherwise, fingers and brain get bored.
July 30, 2012 at 9:51 am
She and her off-kilter, colorful clothing are a welcome presence in this dark, gritty underbelly of the city. But what interests me most is the contrast between this photo and the prior one of a woman seated on a bench. Superficially, the two photos meet the same criteria: an attractive young woman wearing a long skirt seated on a bench and absorbed in her phone. Yet while my reaction to the prior photo was “pretty”, this one arouses something almost frighteningly visceral.
An astounding juxtaposition and worthy of major kudos.

Great light and beautiful colours.
July 30, 2012 at 10:06 am
I like how the colors she’s wearing match the stickers on the windows :-)
July 30, 2012 at 10:08 am
Really different and colourful.
July 30, 2012 at 10:10 am
So eclectic– this kind of style is right up my alley! Lovely work :]
July 30, 2012 at 10:12 am
Great photo! Love her stockings…
July 30, 2012 at 10:14 am
Superbe lumière, le fond de “tableau” est riche. Pas évident du tout. Très belle photo. Un vrai plaisir de regarder cette femme sur son banc.
July 30, 2012 at 10:15 am
This sister is pure art!!
July 30, 2012 at 10:18 am

July 30, 2012 at 10:21 am
Perfect shot :-)
July 30, 2012 at 10:22 am
That light, that background ad that style scream New York to me.
July 30, 2012 at 10:27 am
Wow, this is such a vibrant photograph. The colors are amazing. I love the contrast of the bright colors with the gritty backround.

i didn’t like her outfit but the background and the whole aura of the place makes it look great greets from Amman
Nice background there!

One of your painterly pictures; because natural light is central to the composition, I have to call this photograph “Hopper-esque”:
une chatte grise
August 1, 2012 at 4:02 pm
I see your point! The light itself strikes me as very Maxfield Parrish (but without the Parrish cheesiness…)
I don’t think the socks would work for me if it is really ‘hot and sticky’.
July 30, 2012 at 11:11 am
It’s amazing how this woman seems to just fit into the scene around her, even the colours of her outfit match her surroundings. The grittiness on the right is truly remarkable.
July 30, 2012 at 11:12 am
Such an urban look captured beautifully!
July 30, 2012 at 11:18 am
I love all of the color she’s wearing against the dark and dingy background. Such an amazing photo!

The light in this is brilliant and it is such an unusually busy image…beautiful.
Quite daring, but why not !
July 30, 2012 at 11:46 am
I love the shot but not the look. Cozy unusual bench and icons on back look sooo cool!! I wanna to NY)
July 30, 2012 at 11:49 am
Full length mirror needed!
July 30, 2012 at 11:57 am
I love this photo! The juxtaposition of the woman against the wood bench is just beautiful. The yellow in her braid also plays off the yellow in the sign above her head and to the left of her. Wonderful photo!!
July 30, 2012 at 11:59 am
Beautiful colours – I like how the stickers in the background compliment the colours she is wearing. Lovely light too.
July 30, 2012 at 12:00 pm
Great. This picture contains a story.
July 30, 2012 at 12:03 pm
Great composition. The colors of the outfit blends in with the background but, this lady stands out. She seems young ( too bad we can’t see her face ) her skin is beautiful and I like her sense of “fun”.
Is there a split on the side of the skirt ? I can see a little bit of grey.
July 30, 2012 at 3:01 pm
P.S. She is not wearing socks, she is wearing tights, that’s “the little bit of grey” picking through the slit.

July 30, 2012 at 1:49 pm
i love this vibe. very bohemian – and the rainbow of coasters behind her are so unique.

July 30, 2012 at 2:04 pm
The woman, the background, the chair, everything just seems to collide in this photograph. I would believe that this is taken from another dimension…
A bit too much going on in this.
July 30, 2012 at 2:46 pm
I’m unable to focus on any single thing in this picture, kinda zaps me of energy.

July 30, 2012 at 2:56 pm
I dunno, wish I could take my comment back an just say nothing.
July 30, 2012 at 3:03 pm
it’s summer why not to wear all the colors of the rainbow?!
July 30, 2012 at 3:17 pm
Work those skimmers and socks on a hot summer day, girl!
July 30, 2012 at 3:26 pm
I think this is a very interesting and unique shot. I love the contrast of the bright colors and the industrialization of the city
July 30, 2012 at 3:44 pm
No words. It’s great!
Amazing colors, original hair and nice shoes
July 30, 2012 at 4:05 pm
I love the feeling of this photograph. It looks humid and the lighting suggests the day is growing tired.
July 30, 2012 at 5:04 pm
The style is just radiating from her. I love it!
July 30, 2012 at 5:22 pm
background is the old new york i came to lov and remember!
July 30, 2012 at 5:26 pm
The kind of light that stops time…
July 30, 2012 at 5:44 pm
Interesting shot. I love the creative background and although the socks are slightly off, somehow, I feel they work with the vibe of the outfit.
July 30, 2012 at 6:03 pm
Awesome shot. At first you see a classic african look but when you look closer it’s a whole new look! Love it!
July 30, 2012 at 6:16 pm
This is such a great photograph!
July 30, 2012 at 6:23 pm
What an incredible photo! The wood of the bench, the flame of her skirt, the background? Superb!
July 30, 2012 at 10:22 pm
Just terrific. A balm for eyes that see way too much mediocrity.

July 31, 2012 at 9:16 am
Love, love, love! Beautiful color combo!
July 31, 2012 at 9:29 am
Wonderful photo! I don’t think it’s about the outfit per se–I think it’s how the figure blends in with the collage of text and ephemera.
July 31, 2012 at 9:54 am
Great image, love Washington, NYC.
July 31, 2012 at 10:02 am
Great shot!!! I can ‘feel the moment’… I want to be there…
July 31, 2012 at 2:06 pm
the composition of photo is very mysterious…maybe it’s because of the walls.
