pretty adorable. this photo makes me wonder: do they really have special insight in how to live life in italy that we in america were not blessed with?
Nah. Some people know how to have a great life wherever they happen to be. Some people don’t. I grew up in Europe myself. Believe me, most of my friend born in the USA are blessed with far happier childhood memories then I have. Although without doubt Europeans do have a healthier lifestyle and far less commercial. It still doesn’t mean much. Wether you are living in some villa in Tuscany or in a two story home with a pool in Palos Verdes, its your attitude that makes things work.
This reminds me sooooo much of my summers in Spain visiting my grandmother!!! The rustic houses, the informal and utilitarian attire…the carefree attitude…just awesome! I think Garance described her “essentials” while in Corsica very well and you pictorially captured it!!
This photo gives me vacation fever. Shades and Natural Stone Walls are such an intrigueing Alps/Mediterranean architectural feature, just the sight of it has me longing to spend a lazy afternoon in the tall grass, listening to cicadas.
me too. people are raving about this pic just to represent their blogs here. pointless. there are thousands and thousands similar looks in every resort…
Its fine to dislike the picture, of course. But please refrain from insulting those of us who like it. I don’t happen to have a blog, actually. But I guess it just depends on how you see stylish. If you mean is there a fancy purse here, or obvious designer clothing, then NO. Even though its a style blog, it really is far more of a photography blog too. People wouldn’t bother looking if it was simply about clothing. Personally I think it is very interesting style wise. The simple, but very beautiful sundress on the woman is great. And the girl looks excellent. Thats my opinion of exactly how a stylish kid would look.
Refreshingly natural. I look at your site for an idea of what is going on in the “fashionable” world, since I live in the hinterlands of the hinterlands. While your photos of the “fashionably deliberate” are always lovely and informing, I find your photos of the simply being and natural and not deliberate to be more compelling (to me.)
It has nothing to do with your technique and ability because you have been blessed with an abundance of both, I think; rather, these photos of your non-calculated- to- be-deliberately fashionable and “edgy” subjects show (to me) a yearning of your own to capture the the sheer power of presentation without affectation. I appreciate them more and, as you can see, they do make me think. A lovely photo.
As a mother with a daughter of around the same age as this little girl, this photo made my heart sing.
Everything about this photo is pure humanity-scabby legs, dusty shoes, mussed up hair, simple dresses-no artifice or styling whatsoever. Wonderful work as always-thank you.
I LOVE this shot. It’s reminiscent of a time long past. It’s the kind of photo that I would expect to see in black and white or sepia. Both mother and daughter have wonderful style.
This photo is so natural, so perfect for summertime. The breezy uncomplicated summer dress of the woman, holding a little girl’s hand.. so adorable! The background is gorgeous.. I want to be there!
