I quite agree Sarah about the bag. And I think this photograph is all about the reflective pose of the girl – if we saw this dress walking towards us it might look a little too tight and heavy, roses and bag and strapping all slightly missing the mark.
I think that the hard (‘boxy’) look of the bag matches her necklaces. Her dress is floral and sort of whimsical but her bag and jewellery are heavy and metal. I think its cool how she could contrast it.
I’m not positive if that dress is vintage or not but it has the look of a 80s Laura Ashley dress with the poufy sleeves cut off and it really works on her! I really love the mixture of the vintage looking dress, loud necklace and laid back sandals, great look!
Great picture! I like the juxtaposition of a messy, side-braid, prairie flower dress and sparkly necklace. The sparkly flats also serve as a nice balance for the high-low look. Looks fresh and polished all into one! Quintessentially summer!
There’s a wonderful incongruity to this shot. She looks too beautiful to be standing at a street corner – more like she should be at a garden party in her pretty tea-length floral dress.
There seems to be a great determination on her face as she’s tapping away at her phone. It’s a very different choice of dress, especially for the city. The fabric looks like it belongs to an 80 year old’s drapes, but the fact the she’s so young brings something hip to it.
The necklace, bag and sandals contrast too much with the floral dress, and vice-versa. But I think she’s consciously trying to punk-up a classic summer look, and succeeds.
What a lovely dress! I love how the fancy dress and evening jewellery manages not to look out of place and formal on the street. Very clever accessorising!
I do like how her accessories and her shoes match. Those floral prints are in, but I do like them better than the navy polka-dot explosion from a couple months ago. http://lordashbury.com
Very feminine! Love the way it shows of her curves! This isn’t a girl, its a woman. A beautiful, robust woman. Love the hair. Its just glowing with health. The light is amazing.
Perfect summer dress, perfect tan, beautiful bag and shoes, this woman knows how to dress ! And the picture itself is great too. Would have loved to see a little more of her face though, but it keeps the mystery :)
The dress? I have to tell you, my grandmother had LINOLEUM in that pattern. a We lived in an old (Italian) tenement in Brooklyn. Aunts upstairs, uncles around the corner, cousins coming in for whatever cold food was on the counter. Fabulous memories. I always thought the pattern was more befitting a dress!
I don’t know about you guys but I only see her boobs! Sexy woman in a nice dress. Don’t like the bag. But I like the shoes, that she wears sandals and not heels. Great picture!
As a straight man into clothes I look at her and not only notice her nice summer friendly look but the fact that she is very good looking. The kind of woman who is pretty and knows how to work her clothes to look even better. Double trouble.
scott, i know she is stylish and all, and that’s why you took the picture…but don’t tell you didn’t notice those marvellous boobs first !!! and i am an heterosexual girl
Sooo close but not quite there (my opinion). Everything is fantastic from the toenail prollish up to her long braid, everything…. except for the sparkly necklace and the heavy black bag.
It could have been perfect…..
Love the way she looks so very, very good and relaxed in something that would look hideous on most of us! Looks like she’s breathed new life into that dress!
Oh dear. She is wearing my grandmothers drapes. This is a beautiful chintz fabric. But darling, it’s meant for upholstery and drapes … not clothing. I don’t care how summery it looks.
Girls here in Australia are wearing dresses like this right now, but their dresses are crotch length. Oh, and backless. With platform stilletto heals.
I guess that’s why Italians are famous for their fashion and Australians are not!
It is by Collier Campbell ( the pattern I mean) My Mother had some curtains in the same pattern in the 1970′s /80′s. Still got them somehwere, must look them out if that pattern is making a comeback!

This is a classic upholstery fabric that was used for clothes in the 1980s – Cabbage Rose. I love it.

For the second time today, having a serious rethink about my aversion to florals. With those gladiator sandals, the balance is great!
