Unbelievable how a bow tie can add sophistication to street wise clothing. One can not know if it is intended or is he just a waiter too lazy to change all of his uniform on his way home :))) Nice catch!

Take a look on this try…..it’s only 1 month on internet… http://www.modates.gr

Greece..you can do it,,,,
It’s so nice to see the comeback of the Back Pack…. it was overdue. I love it, they are so practical. And I must say that there are a lot of cool liking pieces out there!…
I don’t get it. There’s nothing remarkable about what this young man is wearing — regulation preppie, which for various reasons has a persistent appeal amongst young black men, esp. from America’s various ghettoes. Which is not to say ALL black men, a distinction possibly lost on many of Sartorialist white fans. It’s ”dressed-up” but also casual and is composed of very simple, non-threatening fashion parts. What troubles me is the Sartorialist’s VERY narrow view of black ppl in his blog, which his audience takes in without comment: often Caribbean (and therefore more “natural” and “authentic” in the Sartorialist’s mind), “ghetto,” occupying some universe different from conventional fashion. None of these characteristics are typical of the most interesting fashion to be found on young black men in NYC, or anywhere else in the USA. What seems like inclusiveness is yet another straightjacket. The same is true for the blogger of jjjjound.com and nickwooster.com. Worrisome, the blinders all three bring to their subjects just because they are of African descent. As often happens in the North, blacks are treated apart from the mainstream when in fact they are very much within the mainstream; and apart from the “avant garde,” when in fact they very often set the terms for the bohemian. Get some black friends, guys!
OooooOOoooooooOOooo….this is AWESOME! I absolutely LOVE a natty look such as this: the casual clothes and Converse sneakers with a frickin’ BOW TIE!! And upturned collar on the jean jacket!
Awesomely positioned too, with the graffiti in the background.
bp294: while you say there is nothing remarkable about the way the young man is dressed, did you ever think that that might be Sart’s point? Although taken separately, none of his clothing is necessarily remarkable, but it’s his overall appearance that attracted Sart to take his photo. And frankly, none of us needs to see yet another kid holding up his pants with one hand on any blog-we can see that on the streets anywhere.
bp294, I don’t agree. This is just a great style and of course clothes work different on a black person than a very pale one, like they work different on young and old people (anyway – this particular style would’ve been great on any kind of person). I can’t see anything racist in here.
I don’t want to insult you, but maybe it is YOUR obsolete paradigms that make you think this COULD be racist and the Sartorialist is way beyond these patterns.
This is me, I was on my school lunch break with a few friends when Scott stopped me. I designed the jacket & bow tie myself. You can contact me @ Ramel_ra@hotmail.com if you have any questions, or twitter.com/mogulmusicmellz
Adorable, and very attractive.
@bp294; This is the Sartorialist’s blog, so he is going to take pictures that strike him as inspirational. Thats all there is here. If you think something different should be portrayed; No one is stopping you. Just don’t expect Scott to take the pictures you would take. He isn’t you. But blaming him for liking what he likes, and not what you like is immature, and pulling out the race card to do it is distasteful. Grab your own camera, and do what you like. Let others do what they like.
I think this guy looks amazing, and I absolutely LOVE the bow tie. I could care less if it has been done before. Its still worth seeing. The hair is just sexy as can be.
