You’ve been showing several pictures lately of people with their backs turned towards the camera. The cyclist, the girl turned into the corner, the woman getting photographed by the friend, and now this.
What’s up? This could be a fun collection to together.
This is Belgium
May 16, 2012 at 4:04 pm
wouldn’t this have been a marvelous shot if that cigarette was not in it?
or to the contrary…
what do you all think?
May 16, 2012 at 4:05 pm
He looks smelly! But yet…attractive. Something only guys with inherent style can pull off. And this is just from seeing the back of him. (except yucky for smoking)
i cant wait to go to ney york: the center of the universe

love the way he rolled up the jeans!
May 16, 2012 at 4:09 pm
A timeless rock ‘n’ roll look. Could have been taken in any of the past four decades.
May 16, 2012 at 4:12 pm
It is fascinatin howfew garments it take, with fairly small amounts of fabric, to give a strong impression of personal style.
The fit of the denim trousers, and the white canvas sneakers does the work, tied together by the white top.
Not my style, but cool, simple and in some way very I-don’t-give-a-shit british late 70′s punkrocker.
May 16, 2012 at 4:16 pm
Cool! He is invited to our party this week! http://fashiontreck.wordpress.com/2012/05/15/introducing-the-special-guest-of-this-week/

May 16, 2012 at 4:42 pm
With that cut-off tee shirt and spiked hair he reminds me of Richard Hell…”Down at the Rock and Roll Club”.
May 16, 2012 at 4:45 pm
I see you’re getting into more super-candid work.
Be sure to check out my photos on the ‘Weekends’!
May 16, 2012 at 4:52 pm
Interesting..No doubt. I know he has his back to us, but I’m getting a modern James Dean vibe here.
May 16, 2012 at 4:57 pm
Love the cuffs, and especially loving that shot in contrast to the graffiti door.
May 16, 2012 at 5:01 pm
Now that’s what you call a “lived-in” look. My gosh, you can even see the imprint of his cell phone in his back pocket.

Exactly what I used to wear when I was 15 in 1986 – right down to the high top sneakers and no socks
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…. what goes around comes around

May 16, 2012 at 7:54 pm
This photo reminds me of West Side Story, one of my favorite movies. He vould be a Jet, of course !
I love photographs with people’s backs to the camera, so mysterious, we have to use our imagination……
May 16, 2012 at 8:12 pm
His lower half is very Ewan McGregor in Trainspotting.

This guy needs to eat…
May 16, 2012 at 10:46 pm
Too cool for school. This is the sort of guy I would have been in love with when I was 23. Also, why do people get bent out of shape over cigarettes in shots like this?
May 16, 2012 at 11:09 pm
it’s an “all american” look. the bluejeans, white tee, and converse – low-brow, high-brow, traditional, punk, rock, c&w, hardcore, even none of those at all…. it’s a timeless look and i’m loving it here!

Loving the New Wave/punk vibe in some of the recent shots.
(And cut-up t-shirts are the best thing ever in the summer. I have a few shirts waiting impatiently to be de-sleeved so they can hit the streets…)
May 17, 2012 at 1:24 am
I have no words for how much I love this photo!
May 17, 2012 at 1:36 am
OH, those jeans. I love them. And so great the way he wears them.

This is literally effortlessly chic.
And there is nothing hotter than a guy who doesn’t even try and yet still gets it right.

May 17, 2012 at 3:24 am
I am guessing it was slim pickings today in NYC. Really? this look is a dime a dozen. He does not even have a great haircut…
May 17, 2012 at 4:13 am
I love that you take pictures in my neighborhood but I never saw you…bad timing. Will have to keep more attention while I’m walking around!
May 17, 2012 at 4:15 am
This look is very much London/Berlin style :)
May 17, 2012 at 4:25 am
Ciggies perform well pre 1987, post are a no no.
May 17, 2012 at 5:03 am
Brilliant contrasts – halo of hair but spiked; clean white Tshirt but inside out; one cuff neat and other rumpled; white Converse with grubby soles; ambiguous religious references (SAINT JEROME – FORGIVE) and gritty urban graffiti; cleaned-off blackboard and cluttered signature marks in paint on wall – lots of horizontals and verticals with a diagonal tilt to the composition; action revealed and concealed.

Non potrebbe ritrarre meglio la grande mela
May 17, 2012 at 5:18 am
very nice mood on the picture.
Very cool and natural look. Though I’m really tired of reading comments of people complaining about the cigarette. Ok it’s unhealthy and I’m sure he’s aware of that. Just like we are all aware that drinking alcohol or eating meat every day, or practicing no sport, etc, are bad for health too.
Anyway, I totaly agree about the fact that this guy is a Jet ! Love it.
May 17, 2012 at 6:38 am
great pictures! love the jeans with the converse!!
May 17, 2012 at 6:53 am
Shabby chic or Hipster hitting hard times?

May 17, 2012 at 8:26 am
amazing picture, so cool…

May 17, 2012 at 8:31 am
This foto rock’s !!!! Love it !!!
May 17, 2012 at 9:05 am
To Lydia and Gary: We get “bent out of shape” over pictures of people smoking because IT’S DISGUSTING. And we get to keep commenting about it as long as Scott puts up pics of people smoking. There’s nothing cool about it. The health issues that Gary points out are real – the cost to society and the health system enormous. When will people stop this horrible habit!
May 17, 2012 at 9:06 am
Love his style – wish there was more raw, grunge looks in Hong Kong!
May 17, 2012 at 9:16 am
Reality is back! Well done!
May 17, 2012 at 9:22 am
Indeed, this is a very timeless look. This picture could be 40 years old. It is also a very international photo – could as well be London/Berlin/Amsterdam. I love the whole atmosphere of the photo, the background graffiti (really? St Jerome – Forgive?) and I respect his “I don’t give a sh*t” attitude.
And btw, a great idea here not to show the face – more mystery for us readers.
May 17, 2012 at 9:30 am
Nice pictures! Love the details in this picture.

St. Jerome’s bar. Lady Gaga’s old hang out. The Drunk Diet lives there sometimes.

Cool. Disheveled New York street urchin who clothes probably cost much more than they look but still pulls it off

Comments are priceless! Was painting the bar that day. Shot literally 15 minutes after I woke up; there’s a coffee sweating behind my knee on the standpipe. If Scott had rode by an hour later I’d have been covered in dark purple paint…
May 17, 2012 at 3:41 pm
he looks really cool
May 17, 2012 at 3:44 pm

May 31, 2012 at 4:04 pm
Like the loose fit he look very relax
June 1, 2012 at 6:50 am
love the pick, the cigarette adds to the realness and to some sense, makes me think that this guy has character =)
June 2, 2012 at 8:05 am
Interesting ‘reading’ of the photo might be – minimalist precarious worker zeitgeist moment. A child in time.
June 4, 2012 at 12:29 pm
Just bad taste, isn’t it?
June 8, 2012 at 4:41 am
this is a fantastic example of how style is something which you carry inside, something that can be instinctive. this guy probably woke up after night of heavy partying, bringing out his baquiat spirit on the street, and still managing to look great&sexy&stylish&”fresh” with his inside-out tee and muddy sneakers. grungy, artsy and chic at the same time. BRAVO!
p.s. reminds me of me so mucb!
June 8, 2012 at 6:22 am
wow. Im in love with this boy, cigarette and all. xoxo
November 6, 2012 at 4:25 pm
I wish I were as young & selfconfident as him to wear such cool…
