This guy – and his beard – were a definite showstopper at Milan Fashion Week. A great sense of sartorial elegance!!
March 22, 2012 at 4:16 pm
Nice black and white photo. I like it too.
March 22, 2012 at 4:20 pm
This guy’s face is awesome. I love the sly look to the side. The mole. The facial hair. It’s all good.
March 22, 2012 at 4:21 pm
A strong image!
March 22, 2012 at 4:26 pm
I’m afraid in this case, color would have been nice. It’s a crucial element to the successful mixing of patterns, and it’s something you totally lose here.

what u say is true!
you always give me precious lessons!
I love B&W photos… they have something special… emotional perhaps!!! Gorgeous!!

Beautiful photo! I love the blurred in the back!
March 22, 2012 at 4:44 pm
I love that all those bold, solid fabrics emphasize how beautiful and delicate his glasses are. And the eyes! So full of life. Lovely.

Black & white photography really does allow you to focus on the subject without the distraction of colour…
March 22, 2012 at 4:49 pm
Very nice. The scarf is a nice touch.

This man is my fashion idol, along with Sam Lambert.

An excellent example to illustrate your point: this b/w photo, akin to a charcoal or pencil drawing, brings out the values (the different shades of gray between black and white) of the textures–even his beard and skin are integral to the composition. The weave and patterns of the hat, tie, scarf and jacket are photographic equivalents of the techniques used to create shading: hatching and cross-hatching.

A bearded man in a suit. What’s not to like.
March 22, 2012 at 6:05 pm
The photo is amazing how you can see the stitches in his knit scarf.
March 22, 2012 at 6:24 pm
I love back and white photos too. Something so classic about them.
Love visiting this blog. Feel free to check out my latest posts if you have a spare minute and fancy some fashion from an Irish girl.

Amazing photo. You really do notice all of the textures of his clothing.
March 22, 2012 at 9:54 pm
Color would not give the same magic & mystery this monochrome masterpiece has!
You have captured so much more!

The tie, the plaid, the texture in the scarf…

Black and white photography definitely brings an edge to an image that color just can’t quite grasp. In color I may not be as intrigued by this man. Now, it’s not just his clothes I’m looking at, but I’m wondering what he’s thinking about so intently. B&W gives a raw seriousness to any photo – even in fashion. Thanks for sharing this!

love the scarf, and yes the b&w makes you focus on patterns & textures. awesome!
March 23, 2012 at 2:39 pm
What a wonderful, textural photo -love that you did it in black and white! Great!
March 23, 2012 at 3:32 pm
the first thing i noticed was the subtle yet striking plaid in the suit. touche
March 23, 2012 at 6:32 pm
I love the black and white contrast!!!!
March 23, 2012 at 7:13 pm
I generally agree with you about BW, and that scarf is great. (It’s great period and it’s great in BW.) But in this case I’d like to see the colors in the plaid and how they work with the colors in the tie. Kinda like the way the guy’s cutting his gaze to his left. Don’t know why.
March 24, 2012 at 5:23 am
Oh I love this scarf, my grandma used to make those for us kids!
I like the photo in Black and White, gives it more mystery but I agree with j above that I would like to see it in colour too.
By the way, I love the way this genteleman dresses!
A big kiss from Greece!
