March 10, 2012 at 9:05 am

March 10, 2012 at 9:09 am
Love that dress – would be just as stylish if it was worn today!
March 10, 2012 at 9:11 am
Amazing. Her lace-dress could be from nowadays.
March 10, 2012 at 9:31 am
Look at that playful look on her face. I wish we knew what was going on in this picture. Look at those awesome wide leg pants. And I wonder if there’s a significance to that hat? And I love that he’s trying to buy something, but that man behind the gate is too engrossed with the woman. Very charming picture.

March 10, 2012 at 10:26 am
Amazing lace dress… so pretty!
March 10, 2012 at 10:30 am
If its in Ukraine, then its NOT Russia. Judging by the hats that they wearing (part of tatar’s national/folk dress) its either Crimea Pensinsule, or South Russia, where there a lot of Tatars n these hats r a common thing.
March 10, 2012 at 10:42 am

I think this is what separates you from other street style bloggers, Scott. I noticed you don’t just post pictures about what people are wearing on the street, you expand your topic into other areas and allow your readers to collaborate. This has created a very unique and more personal community on the blogosphere. You are not just one of the first bloggers to do this, but one of the only bloggers as well. Keep it up.

While, for me, the dress is noteworthy, I agree with katebate about those pants (her voice sounds familiar, btw).
Another example of an inspired unknown photographer.
March 10, 2012 at 9:10 pm
Beautiful photo! I guess it’s the first vintage photo from a formers USSR here:)
Just to answer the questions about Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine used to be part of USSR, considered as a republic but still part of one country at the time.
Now it’s an independent country that has common borders with Russia (and Poland btw:)). They speak their own language and encourage their people not speaking Russian. But that’s politic stuff. Thanks god we’re in fashion:)
I know all this because I am Russian (living in London though:))
March 10, 2012 at 9:17 pm

It is indeed a great and nostalgic photo… thanks to Olya and Scott for publishing.
I love your blog Scott.
Further I agree with Suzannka, this photo may be taken from the southern part of Ukraine with numerous tatar population leaving there, sine the hat that this young man is wearing is part of their traditional clothing. Also.
TaniaPoli very well clarified the question about Ukraine and Russia. I am also from this part of the world presently vealing in Toronto

Yes, it is indeed a beautiful and nostalgic photo. thank you Olya and Scott… i love your blog… awesome!!! Please keep doing this wonderful job!!!
Yes i agree with Suzzanka, it is definitely from the southern part of Ukraine where the numerous tatar population is leaving and a little hat that this young man is wearing is a part of traditional tatar clothing… Also, TaniaPoli very well clarified the question about Russia and Ukraine… i know that as well because i am originally from this part but presently leaving in Toronto…

The dress is wonderful, but the man’s high waisted flared leg pants.. amazing!

Olya, do you have any idea where and when was that picture taken? I’m curious, because the girl looks strikingly similar to my mother and her father escaped as a 10-years-old boy from Ukraine during the World War II. I would be very grateful for any information. A.
