This guy looks so achingly cool in this nonchalant layering of oversized sweaters and baggy shorts…
March 8, 2012 at 8:09 pm
Interesting layering. Can’t say that I love it. It’s a fine line between avant garde stylish and colourful hobo. It’s the eyes of the beholder I imagine. Geez, I hope this doesn’t come across as really mean. He’s obviously a great looking guy, but his sweater just looks itchy and I just don’t like this particular look.
March 8, 2012 at 8:11 pm
Wow, I’m slightly confused and intrigued at the same time. What is this pajama/track clothes cross-over with a jacket thrown over? I like the way the sleeves fit and look as through they have been pushed up but then pulled down because its cold.

March 8, 2012 at 8:31 pm
Oh, the nasty cigarette.
March 8, 2012 at 8:32 pm
The design of this guys blazer is very cool!
March 8, 2012 at 9:09 pm
It actually looks like he’s wearing two (very different) outfits ! The blazer and the burgundy pants vs the sweater and the shorts. I am trying to disregard the sweater and shorts though, because that blazer and the color of those pants are just amazing !
March 8, 2012 at 9:42 pm
I wish I knew where i could get a blazer like this. Love this whole outfit so much!
March 8, 2012 at 9:51 pm
this is why I love style. this outfit on this man is performance art. it reminds me that men can be men, and wear whatever they want to.
March 8, 2012 at 9:53 pm
Top gear doesn’t always have to be shiny and clean.
March 8, 2012 at 10:35 pm
I was kind of buying it until i got down to the long shorts and sweat pants.
March 8, 2012 at 10:38 pm
sorry, don’t get this, so totally sloppy. http://www.hotcelebration.com
March 8, 2012 at 11:07 pm
Wow. Brave. And Cool.
I love the way you continue to find those out of the ballpark images which surprise and inspire!
March 8, 2012 at 11:17 pm
The tattoo on his hand makes me believe is kind of bad**s even though the outfit is kind of bohemian…but I like it!
March 8, 2012 at 11:32 pm
since when is the homeless look in? are designers running out of ideas already?
March 8, 2012 at 11:34 pm
Hahahhaha he definitely has enough layers to keep himself warm!

John Skelton is so achingly cool and spot on! Love it all…

Most unusual! I am wondering what occasion he is dressed for. Walking to the gym? Going to work? Breakfast out? And I would love to see what he wears tomorrow and the next day, to see if this is a consistent aesthetic for him. Did he just throw this together, or is he thoughtful about dressing? Is he a fan of funky knits and jackets in general?
I have to love this look, just because it raises questions for me about the person in the clothes. I want style to be intriguing, personal, and right for the moment. This gentleman takes my brain in that direction.
March 9, 2012 at 12:10 am
he looks like robinson in a town..
March 9, 2012 at 12:47 am
this guy is perfectly parisian. i’d never successfully pull this look off here, but i’d take things from it like proportions or texture and try to incorporate it into what i wear.
March 9, 2012 at 1:00 am
Kill the shorts and the rest of it works for me. Really love the sweater.

salaam ailakum, it’s more like he’s on his way to a mosque. i kind of love it though, minus the last layer of red pants.
March 9, 2012 at 2:00 am
many people say he’s cool, but I think you say that only because you see this photo published here! But if you saw this guy on a normal day walking around or in the underground you would really think that he’s homeless!
March 9, 2012 at 2:02 am
Weird, interesting, yet unattractive. Am not feeling it
March 9, 2012 at 2:10 am
john looks cool
March 9, 2012 at 2:11 am
Paris is all about this.
March 9, 2012 at 2:36 am
he’s really doin’ A LOT here to not have on somekind of undergarment beneath that open weave sweater – he looks a little cold. maybe another layer is hiding.
March 9, 2012 at 2:37 am
I love the blue blazer!
I like the top half of this outfit.

I really like the sweater & jacket combo… very striking.
March 9, 2012 at 2:50 am
I love this style, very cool!
March 9, 2012 at 3:21 am
axe the over-sized sweater and shorts and you have a truly inspired look! he has such a great build and that blazer fits beautifully well add the maroon pants and you have a great outfit!
*some times we try too hard to be “different”*
March 9, 2012 at 3:28 am
He looks so cool but at the same time so cosy.
March 9, 2012 at 3:33 am
I was wondering if I am layering my clothes in tropical climate country like Indonesia. Heheh.
March 9, 2012 at 3:34 am
Love his style!
March 9, 2012 at 3:36 am
That’s a quite strange look, may be just one step from perfection, but still – one step ;)
March 9, 2012 at 3:37 am
Somethings are better left for the runway.
March 9, 2012 at 4:05 am
The sweater reminds me of a chain mail shirt, so I get this very confusing knight association.

Hmmm, interesting. I do like the blazer though :-)

brave man, it works on him. The blazer is very nice, anyone know where it’s from?

I’m sorry, it looks comfy etc but NO!
March 9, 2012 at 6:48 am
Perfect gardening attire.
This is great. If this is what homeless looks like to someone they must be living in a pretty swanky hood. All of it works for me. The color, the line, the shape, the proportion. Different? Of course. We will see more and more indications of this still in mens wear moving forward.

This is how I dress when I need to nip out to by a pint of milk in the morning, but can’t be bothered to change out of my pyjamas.

The only part I don’t like is maybe “from the waist down” – trousers were enough imo. For the rest, simply perfect.
March 9, 2012 at 8:31 am
can’t say i would dress like this but…. respect for pulling it off !
March 9, 2012 at 8:44 am
Amen Lolo. You summed it up very well.
March 9, 2012 at 9:01 am
I wish he had on different shoes that would make it all look less random.
March 9, 2012 at 9:22 am
He’s unique, however couldn’t say what he wants to achieve through this…Honestly, without the blue pants would be better!
p.s please if you’re cold in the winter do wear your coat!A coat fulfills a winter outfit!

March 9, 2012 at 9:33 am
I love the jacket, but the whole look is a bit ‘try hard’ for me.
March 9, 2012 at 10:06 am
I like it. Especially the beard.
March 9, 2012 at 10:07 am
Thisn guy is just HOT. I think he would look good in anything, even with what he’s wearing in that pic.
March 9, 2012 at 10:42 am
Cool as ever John Skelton x
March 9, 2012 at 10:55 am
I don´t know it he´s cool or I don´t like this outfit. Perhaps I don´t like this look at all.
March 9, 2012 at 11:18 am
This man is…lost?
March 9, 2012 at 11:41 am
the lapel or flap or whatever that thing is…nope.
March 9, 2012 at 12:16 pm
Here is the blazer and jumper combo…
March 9, 2012 at 2:48 pm
The iron gate and spikes juxtaposed to his confident stance punctuate, like exclamation points, his brave style. I can’t help noticing your use of background as a complement to your subjects’ fashion sense, and how it enhances the composition.

I love how much of debate this man can cause. Its modern, different and individual…isn’t that what style is all about? He works it. Minus the cancer stick x
March 9, 2012 at 3:37 pm
I think you guys are being very harsh about how this homeless guy is dressed. If you were homeless you wouldn’t have a lot of choice about what you wore either. Give the guy a break.
March 9, 2012 at 3:38 pm
Love the structure of the blazer and how far it come down
March 9, 2012 at 5:28 pm
he is excellent
March 9, 2012 at 9:50 pm
I love it and this strange outfit works for him somehow. A wonderful play of shapes.

March 9, 2012 at 10:13 pm
Such interesting layering!
March 9, 2012 at 11:45 pm
Homeless? Out to get a carton of milk in his jammies. Ha — don’t think so. Try Damir Doma Jacket and crew neck sweater, Dries Van Noen Picard shorts and pants and Ann Demeulemeester sneakers. You can see it/buy it at http://www.ln-cc.com/men/icat/mens/. And if you have abou $3,500 you too can look like that. A little out of reach for most of the homeless even in Paris.
March 10, 2012 at 6:05 am
steal one item off him (not the cigarette) and it will be perfect!
March 10, 2012 at 7:27 am
AWESOME. I check the Sartorialist all the time, but this is the first time I’ve felt moved to comment. So great to see a guy experimenting with chic! I think he should go further and replace the shorts with a skirt, a la McQueen.
March 10, 2012 at 9:45 am
Oh dear…not a great look.
PS Why is it that my comments don’t get uploaded onto this site?
March 10, 2012 at 9:59 am
For Paris is good. But not for the rest.
March 10, 2012 at 3:30 pm
monalisa, it can all be found at thrift stores……
March 10, 2012 at 5:19 pm
This look isn’t his at all, he took this exact look piece for piece from one of the style pictures of the guys on ln-cc.com.

monalisa March 9, 2012 at 11:45 pm
You’ve proven a very good point – no amount of money in the world can buy good taste. Well done.
March 10, 2012 at 7:44 pm
Maybe with heels?
March 10, 2012 at 9:48 pm
Well, its John Skelton, who created ln-cc so I’m not sure you can say it isn’t his look. He’s combined pieces from the collections he’s chosen.
I’m glad to know it can all be found at thrift stores. Must make the folks who actually buy those designer pieces feel pretty foolish.
March 11, 2012 at 1:54 am
@ Simon–if you read the comments above you’ll see that this man is John Skelton, creative director of ln-cc. I think that makes the look pretty “his.”

March 11, 2012 at 12:50 pm
John Skelton always rocks! I love his style and ln-cc.
March 11, 2012 at 12:59 pm
@une chatte grise – I didn’t realize that, you’re right, it does make it his in that case.
March 11, 2012 at 2:47 pm
Beautiful sexy guy. Anything will look cool on him.
March 12, 2012 at 4:09 am
The way this man wears the clothes is effortless and natural. He is in his element. I believe this is the type of effect designers aim for? I find the look interesting because it gives the man more shape, filling out his lower half. Those look like skinny jeans underneath, which is why the shorts over the pants are so interesting…we know he has them on underneath, but he does feel the need to show it!
March 12, 2012 at 11:06 am
even the guys are going all pigeon toed when they pose.. QUIT IT.
hate the messy beard look on hipster dudes.
hate the smoking on all these peeps..are you just taking photos
of the smokers that hang outside entrances?
just despise this sort of thing.
the fence is fabulous however.
March 12, 2012 at 5:17 pm
Love his oversized sweater
March 12, 2012 at 6:17 pm
Wow. This is stunning… Even though this kind of layering is rather uncommon, but I Love it! Great Outfit !!
March 13, 2012 at 7:33 am
Hard to detect an ounce of masculinity in this. So I hate it. The blazer is the only part that’s working.
March 13, 2012 at 10:22 pm
I don’t buy it! I can appreciate the daring attempt, but it doesnt come together for me.

March 22, 2012 at 9:11 am
Este estilo es el mio. Me gusta!!! La americana sin solapa contrastada con el jersey de punto consigue la parte mas sport de una americana y de un estilo urbano. La parte que no me gusta es la inferior; yo le pondría unos pantalones anchotes en tonos grises con unas buenas zapas.
April 26, 2012 at 10:54 am
I dig the blazer. Would love to get one for myself.

Great look. Great photo.

love the color combination. You could’ve made it real simlpe monochromatic but you manage to make it funky with the top, and still didnt overdo it! Kudos!Nora

I would love to be a sample sewer for this bafitueul blazer! Even though I have little girl (2,5 years old). Could be very cute to sew a little sporty blazer for her and combine it with a girly skirt. I have a camera and a blog, too :)[email protected] it is ok with you, that I live in Germany. I’m sure my readers would like to know about such a nice blazer!
