I hope you were able to run over to her and say hi or something, thats really cool and probably very rare to see someone with that type of camera at a show. I wish i could see what she comes up with!
I Love that you noticed such an overlooked thing in people and appreciated and shared it with your readers. Especially in a chaotic moment such as NYFW
Elle@Chellbellz You would like to know who she is?
You can see her photos at http://www.amydavisphoto.com/
I believe she is shooting NYC fashion week for Dossier Journal, so the photos she is shooting in these pics will probably be posted on Dossier very soon.
One to watch.
Your observation here really connected with me. She does look as if she’s enjoying that moment and I think the fact that she’s shooting with a rangefinder makes her a certain kind of deliberate image maker.
I’m continually enjoying your blog, and particularly these kinds of posts.
Could she be any more naturally beautiful? I love vintage cameras…I’ve been wanting some to place around my home…they make me smile thinking about all the life and places they’ve seen.
Your comment is spot-on, Mr. Schuman. Thanks for sharing that moment. (And while the first photo in the series captures the spirit of your comment perfectly, the last photo is just plain spectacular–it could be a still from a vintage film.)
That is an M7, not a M6. As you can see from the front, if it was an M6 the words “M6 would be visible, but on an M7 (identically physically) the branding of “M7″ would be hidden by the position of her middle finder in the second and third photos.
The M6 branding says “LEICA M6″ and would be visible whereas this was changed with the M7.
She knows what she’s holding. There’s no other way to use a Leica, and of course, it’s the best complement for a beautiful girl. You were quick in this one.
I love how she doesn’t know that Scott Schuman was taking her picture because she was far more enthralled in doing what she loves to do, not trying to grab anyones attention. Beautiful! xx

So refreshing to see this unexpectedly captured moment! She looks lovely, indeed! But the fact that you noticed it and shot it, also tells a lot about your own sensibility. Thanks for posting it!
Thank you as always for simple features like these, I love them! Especially cool that your subject was at Billy Reid, a designer whose aesthetic I particularly admire for both men’s & women’s fashion alike… He’s supposed to be opening a store here in DC soon, his customers can’t wait!
Did anyone notice she looks through the viewfinder with her left eye? She’s able to keep both eyes open while working. Great way to be aware of all that’s going on around her. Technique not exclusive to combat photography. Lovely photos.
Love the photos. This girl definitely would have caught my eye even in a room full of models and fashionistas. She is beautiful no doubt about it, but it does make me laugh when people say “she’s beautiful even without wearing any makeup” when she clearly has makeup on.

A very special moment you’ve captured. I wish I could see the shots she took at the show. I would love to see how her passion spills over into her work.
hmmm…Its a range finder camera Leica M6 – 35mm lens – she is not holding it to right eye. She has it to her left, which kind of defeats the purpose. But if it makes you happy…
@ Daniel , Well perhaps her left eye is better than her right one and that’s why she uses her left. I am that very way. It’s not nice of you to think that it “defeats the purpose” as if it were due to ignorance or something. I wish I could use my right eye for photography, ceratocone won’t let me. But regardless of this comment (and my answer!), this is a very inspiring blog post.
