Wow, great photo from the ’58 title game. While not a fan of Big Blue, I too am hoping for a Giants victory.

As a fan of the Patriots all I can say is: NOOOOOO WAY!!!

And even ignoring it, the thought of a universe where Eli has twice the rings his bro has simply scares me to death… :)

Nice that you used an image from when the Colts were where they rightfully belong – in Baltimore! Somehow seeing that horseshoe helmet in Indianapolis just isn’t right. Oh well, now we have the Ravens in sexy black pants. They should be in the Superbowl! Good thing the Superbowl won’t be played in New England. The playing field in level.

As a diehard Eagles fan I have to go with my NFC cohorts as well.

Love to see another committed style junkie who is also a football fan, sometimes people get confused that I can be both.

I’m confused. I may not know much about football, but I do know this is a great action shot of the then-Baltimore Colts about to lay one on the Giants (?). I can’t make out who the opposing team is.
I saw the Giants paste the Pats a few years back. I hope this game is as good…whatever the outcome.

hahaaahah. Scott…..this is the first bad post you’ve ever made man. I’m ashamed(not really). The Giants had they shine back in 08 bro, not to mention they knocked off the Packers, and the Niners. As much as i dislike the Pats….I’m gonna have go for them in this year’s Superbowl.

Giants fandom aside, keep up the brilliant work man!

This photograph is by Robert Riger – the greatest sports photographer of all times – who my gallery had the honor of representing and exhibiting.

Riger started taking photographs as reference for his drawn illustrations for Sports Illustrated, but later in his life these photographs were recognized as masterpieces in and of themselves.

If anyone is interested, in 1995 Random House published a book of his best pictures in which you can find at sellers specializing in out of print books. It’s a revelation.

What a great show, but the sport in itself is too slow… Not in the play itself, but in the constant interruptions, ad breaks, quarters, half-times, etc… Definitely prefer rugby (union) and “real” football (or soccer, who invented that word?) or even basketball.
Even so, a great experience watching it, it was close to the end! Cheers,

    L

As Fred Exely wrote in A Fan’s Notes. A fictional memior (1968):

“The Giants were my deight, my folly, my anodyne, my intellectual stimulation…an island of directness in a world of circumspection…a life-giving, an exalting force…”
