a beautiful take on the sexy librarian! I have a similar skirt.. I can’t wait to copy it:)
The lighting of this picture is fantastic by the way.
February 2, 2012 at 9:56 am
Very other worldy and pretty – she looks as if she belongs in another time and place.
February 2, 2012 at 9:58 am
Woo-hoo! She did a fabulous jib! The shoes, the socks, the skirt…mmm… and then the shirt and glasses just done it for me! Great!
February 2, 2012 at 9:59 am
Wow, very nice vintage look!
February 2, 2012 at 10:00 am
That is such a great photo! I love her entire look, especially her glasses…
February 2, 2012 at 10:01 am
i love the little pleats, the light coming from the skirt and the collar…
February 2, 2012 at 10:03 am
Not a fan of pleats but I love that skirt
There is a identical shop on Navigli, but the ower is not so chic

Sexy. Good thing you didn’t tell us what store – did you? I’d go ask her out. I love chicks that look like this – whatever “this” is. You know, like that. ;-)
So classic and geek!! You are amazing Scott! Congrats!!
February 2, 2012 at 10:10 am
cute purple socks to match the skirt! nice attention to detail!
February 2, 2012 at 10:15 am
Spring St.? Are you sure? This looks a lot like the Madewell shopfront on Broadway, and I’m not even from New York.
February 2, 2012 at 10:16 am
i love her outfit especially her long skirt! but she looks so frail, doesn’t she?
February 2, 2012 at 10:17 am
Beautiful long skirt and such a warm and cosy outfit!
February 2, 2012 at 10:19 am
wow – she looks amazing – everything about this is working, the maxi skirt, and especially the collar and sweater!
February 2, 2012 at 10:20 am
What a adorable outfit! I love that her sock and skirt match. Also a brilliatly composed shot – she’s color coordinated with the background.
February 2, 2012 at 10:21 am
The stone-blue & navy alongside the plum & mauve is such a peaceful ‘hot’ and cool contrast.
February 2, 2012 at 10:23 am
No, I take back my last post. I must have a flawed memory.
February 2, 2012 at 10:24 am
She kinda’ reminds me of Zoe Deschanel. Cute outfit. But I’m intrigued about the shirt/dress hanging right next to her!
February 2, 2012 at 10:28 am
February 2, 2012 at 10:29 am
Love that dress!
February 2, 2012 at 10:35 am
New Yorkers have this effortless “cool” vibe…they grew up in a place with so much culture, fashion and chic surroundings it would be an effort to not be stylish!
February 2, 2012 at 10:42 am
I’m looking more at what’s hanging on the rack (a lot of good-looking stuff!) more than at the lady. But she’s cute too.
February 2, 2012 at 10:44 am
The perfect (and feminine) religiously observant look! Pay attention ladies!
February 2, 2012 at 10:46 am
American Apparel worker!!!
February 2, 2012 at 10:47 am
It’s not hard to find beautifully dressed people working at Opening Ceremony <3

February 2, 2012 at 11:22 am
Love her skirt. This is what we like to call American Apparel.

Wonderful way of displaying so many accessories in such tall windows and have them all so visible to cars and pedestrians on the street!
February 2, 2012 at 11:31 am
love her skirt so much!
I love her style.
February 2, 2012 at 11:33 am
I love that more women are wearing maxi skirts. They’re such a strong statement of femininity.
February 2, 2012 at 11:39 am
Wowww, love her Skirt!!!!

February 2, 2012 at 12:26 pm
I love the skirt. So chic.
February 2, 2012 at 12:28 pm
This outfit is 100% American Apparel! And she’s in front of the store! I love that skirt!
February 2, 2012 at 12:31 pm
So purty! I love how it manages to be classic, but not stuffy in any way.
February 2, 2012 at 12:36 pm
She’s adorable!I love the pleated skirt paired with the casual knit jumper!
IS THIS IT? models review
February 2, 2012 at 12:38 pm
Awww, I like her a lot, and everything: shirt collar and outfit’s “neverending legs proportions” especially…

February 2, 2012 at 1:23 pm
Love the skirt/sock/shoe combo–that’s spectacular. The look of the sock & shoe set actually reminds me of my favorite Fluevog boots! (Also hoping that M. Da Chump is having a better day today.)
February 2, 2012 at 1:25 pm
those pleats are fantastic. what a great photo.
February 2, 2012 at 1:50 pm
great skirt, nice light :)
February 2, 2012 at 2:17 pm
This is obviously an American Apparel store, and their employees wear head-to-toe AA clothing. Very well-styled, I love to see the way their employees represent themselves with the clothing available from the company. Much more fascinating than their ads. So funny that everyone is guessing it’s so much more high-end clothing though…

She’ll smile for a while after reading une chatte grise’s comment (just like me, thanks, ucg).

February 2, 2012 at 2:57 pm
Beautiful! I love the skirt.
February 2, 2012 at 3:10 pm
You’ve got to love the modesty of this
February 2, 2012 at 3:29 pm
I’m sorry, but someone this mousey and dowdy would get a second look on the street? You are all seduced by the camera frame. Without that frame she would just be another speck of ordinary..
February 2, 2012 at 3:40 pm
American Apparel personified.
February 2, 2012 at 4:27 pm
A subtly gorgeous outfit we have here.
International Blog and Shop
Her entire outfit is American Apparel. She is actually a worker from AA, and the store behind her is our location! You can get the complete outfit (pleated accordion skirt, cableknit sweater and denim short sleeve) at any of our locations!
February 2, 2012 at 4:34 pm
I love this shop, and it makes me wish I were in NYC…but that skirt reminds me of something the girls in high school choir were forced to wear during concerts. Otherwise, she is adorable!!
February 2, 2012 at 4:41 pm
Love her skirt!
February 2, 2012 at 5:03 pm
It’s American Apparel, and she’s wearing it head to toe except for the shoes.
February 2, 2012 at 5:15 pm
outfit very inspiring !!!!!!
February 2, 2012 at 7:00 pm
I enjoy the very dignified, feminine and wearable outfits I have been seeing on the Sartorialist ladies. Thank you!
February 2, 2012 at 8:20 pm
It’s Really Beautiful!
February 2, 2012 at 8:33 pm
I work for American apparel and even I’m sometimes surprised how well the clothes can come together. The accordion skirt is never used enough.
February 2, 2012 at 9:18 pm
this is so cool- something you see all the time in Soho/ Chinatown- but you made it look so pretty!
February 2, 2012 at 10:41 pm
One hundred years from now people will look at her and wonder who this enigmatic beauty was … what was her story?
February 2, 2012 at 11:09 pm
Someone coined this look “Hassid Chic”
February 2, 2012 at 11:35 pm
the entire look is American Apparel and the back ground is the Soho store

this just appeared on the american apparel website, as if you weren’t paid for this blatent advertising of terrible clothing.

February 3, 2012 at 9:56 pm
Striking young woman and great shot, but that girl needs something to eat. I mean like potatoes and an American sized steak, unlike the smaller version they seem to serve in most other countries.
February 4, 2012 at 1:05 am
Geeeez, I love her face. And look at the skirt… amazing! Love the shoes too! :D
February 4, 2012 at 1:10 am
What a ‘moody’ shot…I love it, I think it is one of the best photos I’ve seen.
February 4, 2012 at 2:22 am
Love the pleated maxi skirt!
Such a beautiful pairing with the blue sweater too :)
February 4, 2012 at 4:42 am
February 4, 2012 at 4:43 am
Amazingly lovely photo. The skirt, the shoes, and the way she has her hands claped in such a demure way just steals my breath away. She looks impossibly graceful.
February 4, 2012 at 4:51 am
@ J …I am really amazed at you people. If this was Burberry instead of American Apparel no one would say “boo”. But because this is something that real people can afford to do suddenly its “blatant advertising”? But all the other MILLION times that street bloggers take pictures of people outside of fashion shows its NOT? Shame on you for being such pointless snobs.
February 4, 2012 at 4:54 am
It’s that skirt again! Can i just say that trying to order this skirt f
rom American Apparel is practically impossible and have been trying for nearly 6 months!
Very Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face – that stylish librarian look. Love it!
February 4, 2012 at 6:42 am
I love this picture!
February 4, 2012 at 2:11 pm
Wonderfully ’80′s. It reminds me of my older sisters ’80′s outfits. Yet the skirt gives it a contemporary feel.
