What I like about Mr. Wooster is not only does he always look born immaculately cool, but also like he knows how to throw a punch if he had to. I wouldn’t want to mess with him too much.
February 6, 2012 at 3:22 pm
he makes his own decisions and doesn’t second guess himself- nice to be that confident about yourself
February 6, 2012 at 3:23 pm
I love that Nick Wooster looks kind of like a fashion forward lumberjack. I always enjoy seeing what he’s going to wear next.

the Woost god!
“Anytime it’s out of their comfort zone, guys need a blueprint…I think that overall guys are interested in acquiring a wardrobe based on problem solving…”
“The thing that started it all was probably casual Friday: the thing that was supposed to be liberating fucked things up more than anything.”
…Particularly true statements from a very insightful character…

Nick Wooster is not only a very stylish man, but he talks about clothes with a refreshing candor and honesty not always associated with fashion.

Absolutely love him!! The best article of the series of enterviews you’ve made
I love how, to me, he always looks like a fashion forward lumberjack… in a good way. I’m always interested to know what he’s going to wear next.

I love today’s post. When he admits that being a style icon has actually worsened his self-esteem…how honest and comforting.
February 6, 2012 at 4:06 pm
This man is very elegant. He is not afraid to wear different clothes. I like it.

February 6, 2012 at 6:46 pm
seems chilled and humble. fair play.
February 6, 2012 at 7:22 pm
Ahh… You look so gorgeous Mr Wooster. Living in a small country town, as I do, it’s so hard to step outside the ordinary with our clothes (let alone where to find anything unusual!!). But you have inspired me to keep trying!
February 6, 2012 at 7:51 pm
I would like to ask all the BEST photographers a question, and that includes Scott, of course!
Why is it that references or descriptions for creating beautiful images through a medium like photography is described in such invasive terms like “took a photo” or “shot a picture”?
February 6, 2012 at 8:22 pm
Yeah he is so right about the Casual Friday, it was supposed to free people up and expres their personal style but instead turned out to be a short cut to Old Navy!
But maybe old navy is their style!
February 6, 2012 at 9:12 pm
Nick Wooster…Past Chic! Past Elegant! a TRUE fashion leader, and Fifty Something to boot! Looking Great and Stylish is not just for the Twenty Something Crowd, Nick is a Man that proves that.
February 6, 2012 at 9:23 pm
Very sharp in the first photo.

We know a lot about our fears by what we are willing to wear and the terror of being found out some how…

your blog and the mr porter website are the only two things in the world that make me wish i had a man to shop for. that’s sayin’ a lot. shopping for my exhusband was more fun than shopping for me! thanks in part to you, i develop ever higher standards…sigh:)

I absolutely agree with the point on casual friday: In a former job I decided to counter with Formal Friday, as – this being Denmark – the casual aspect had developed into managers walking around the offices in shorts, sandals and socks. Or barefoot, for that matter. It just seemed so very sloppy I could hardly focus on anything other than the damn socks.

A nice interview!
February 7, 2012 at 8:56 am
I like his frankness, very rare to find. He’s not afraid to show he can be vulnerable but still retains a personal quiet confidence, What a lovely sounding man and a great dresser to boot!
fat guy in a little coat
February 7, 2012 at 10:18 am
Why is it that all these people who talk of fit wear such little coats? It looks as if he’ll pop his button if he moves the slightest.
February 7, 2012 at 11:12 am
I love his honesty, his style, and his fearlessness. Great interview!
February 7, 2012 at 1:41 pm
I love his comment about “casual Friday.” Casual Friday has given way to a mess of a dress code. At least men can wear a dress shirt and tie without a jacket but still look somewhat put together. Women seem to also be at a loss for “casual Friday.” Of course, I live in a small beach town in Northern California and everyday is casual Friday!
February 7, 2012 at 2:24 pm
I always love the photographs you feature of this guy, thanks for some of his words!

I LOVE shirt collar really a lot…
February 7, 2012 at 3:30 pm
Mr. Wooster is fantastic, but I wish you’d included more photos showing his beautiful tattoos.
February 7, 2012 at 4:47 pm
A friend of mine did a casting recently and specified: ‘no heritage beards..’ I thought that was kind of funny. I think the lumberjack look has gone over into the mainstream now… I wouldn’t saddle Mr. Wooster with the label.
February 7, 2012 at 5:48 pm
totally agree with this guy…get more!
February 7, 2012 at 7:58 pm
I love the rounded collar on his shirt. I think his suit fits perfectly, most men wear them way too big.

I really like the bar clip. I keep hearing different opinions on it, but I definitely like how this man is wearing it!

I’ve never felt the need to comment on a Sartorialist piece until now. Amazing interview. The way he speaks is a breath of fresh air from most mundane fashion interviews. Thank you, Scott!

I find Nick Wooster so inspiring. I think he always looks brilliant, even when he wears something that is ‘a bit off’. Maybe because he’s consistent in taking those risks is the reason he can pull things off? Whatever… He’s a fashion legend! We need people like him making brave outfit choices so the less adventurous of us can follow!
February 11, 2012 at 12:52 am
I can feel his energy and some of his personality by reading this interview. His approach to fashion is captivating and has a different perspective in one’s personal style.
February 13, 2012 at 10:27 am
Always been a fashion idol of mine, though it bothers me that someone so cool and effortless would admit to caring so much about what people think
sorta ruins that badass image of him I’ve always held… though he is still awesome
February 14, 2012 at 11:34 am
Wooster is appreciated by men because he bravely displays the fearless style it takes to be considered a fashionable man. Thank you for this. Great post.
