Vibrant and beautiful!
April 15, 2010 at 7:29 pm
I love these shots, makes me wish for summer already. The ease of dressing in summer vs. the layering and boots and gloves all winter long. I love the sandals, the jeans with the applique. I don't see any pastels here at all.
April 15, 2010 at 7:30 pm
makes me want to go on vacation… now! beautiful images…
April 15, 2010 at 7:31 pm
Her hair is so gorgeous!
April 15, 2010 at 7:33 pm
Really gorgeous fashion photography Scott. Thanks for sharing it. I love your blog. There is a clear distinction between your personal work and paid editorial. I would hate to see the best fashion blogs losing integrity as they become increasingly influencial. You're very inspiring for me.
April 15, 2010 at 7:37 pm
breathtaking… absolutely unreal.i am inspired.

For Anon 7:33
remember I shot this months ago and nothing has changed on this blog since. The only way shooting more editorial will change the blog is that it will make me a better more diverse photographer.
April 15, 2010 at 7:46 pm
the third photo is wonderful…http://www.nobodyknowsmarc.blogspot.com
beautiful shoot Scott. I love love love hearing the stories behind what made the images… things you never hear in magazines. Its like the 'month in fashion' video of garance and yourself we all loved so much… gives as an insider look
April 15, 2010 at 7:48 pm
Love the story behind the shoot! I'm surprised and tickled you had to sneak around the hotel – it reminds me of when I had to take photos of design stores for a class assignment and was forced to use all the sleuthiness I learned from watching old episodes of the pink panther to avoid getting caught photographing the stores' "not to be photographed" displays/vignettes. Unlike your lovely photos, the pressure of being discreet combined with my sadly lacking photography skills resulted in a rather poor production ;)
April 15, 2010 at 7:53 pm
Seems like both you and Garance are definitely getting some great exposure of late with the mags etc, greatness.
Am so happy for the success you have had over the last two years, it is always wonderful to watch art grow.
April 15, 2010 at 7:58 pm
this place looks so serene and beautiful. love the playful/whimsical styling.

How sneaky :) Very beautiful and vibrant photos. I like it. A lot.
April 15, 2010 at 9:04 pm
Jaja! working in the dark, like if you were stealing. that gave to the shoot more flavour (even more).Luck is italian vogue, so now one is going to say "hey, It's that my board?" "hey, is that my hotel?"
April 15, 2010 at 9:13 pm
Awesome pics!Kisses from Italy…

This whole thing is gorgeous!
April 15, 2010 at 11:03 pm
yes indeed: we call them guerilla fashion shoots over on our little knitting magazine. Delighted to know that's how you do it too.Cheers.
April 15, 2010 at 11:13 pm
What was the point of showing these staged photos on your site? So the stealth styling and photographs are nice — big deal. I thought your purpose was to show the spontaneous, inspiring, interestingly dressed person, which you do so well.
April 15, 2010 at 11:14 pm
hullo scott, i love these shots, especially the first one of the girl on the bike! i look at the pictures on the sartorialist whenever i need some magic in my life.
April 15, 2010 at 11:31 pm
man how cool!
April 15, 2010 at 11:48 pm
I love these! Sometimes the "winging it" gives you better pictures than the well planned out shots…don't ya think?
I'm absolutely in love with the third shot! The flag blowing, the swimsuit with the jacket…makes you feel as though you are right there with her.
The Pale and Pallor Princess
April 16, 2010 at 12:04 am
Beautiful, I love the sunlight in the first one. The colour is great in all of them.
April 16, 2010 at 12:14 am
i love this editorial. i especially love that your work (both personal and editorial) doesnt look super-enhanced, photoshopped etc. The light, the model, the setting – all looks so natural. as an amateur photographer I find it very inspirational – in a weird way it makes me think that i could take photos like that too one day. In fact, it would be fair to say that both your and Garance's work is what got me into photography in the first place (although i dont photograph street style or anything of that sort). Much love!
April 16, 2010 at 12:19 am
Amazing photography. I love those painted jeans!! Light bright and airy work!

April 16, 2010 at 12:24 am
The composition is fabulous. The colors leap off the page. This is fashion editorial on the web done right.
April 16, 2010 at 12:33 am
I especially love the third and the last one but they are all amazing.
April 16, 2010 at 12:35 am
The clothes are extremely unflattering in the shot with the boogie board.
April 16, 2010 at 12:44 am
Gotta learn how to shoot without getting caught. People just keep on walking up to me when I do my shoots.
Absolutely gorgeous! Brilliantly done!

I like how everything has that worn look to it and it isn't so prim and proper as one would usually guesstimate (is that a word? oh well. I'm using it.) to be with the usual preppy environment of the Hamptons.
Instead, these pictures provide the dreamy escape of what summer vacation could be like for everyone to relate to.
April 16, 2010 at 1:28 am
April 16, 2010 at 1:59 am
This shoot looks great! despite the low budget :) You did a great job.

April 16, 2010 at 2:43 am
Gorgeous pics……..nothing else to say.
April 16, 2010 at 2:59 am
Tis is brilliant! Amazing photos, I especially love the first one with the bicycle, it reminds me of the place where I go every summer, where we only use bicycles to go from one place from another, and hence to the beach! And my second favourite must be the one with the boards, the LV bag and the ping-pong rackets. I love it: sounds very summery and family beachouse to me!
April 16, 2010 at 3:09 am
The pictures are beautiful. My little beef is about shooting with props–I may be wrong, but she just doesn't hold that boogie board like it is an extension of herself. Ditto if people are photographed playing musical instruments. Holding it doesn't mean you can use it, there is just that twinge of something that is amiss.
April 16, 2010 at 3:21 am
This place seems amazing!I've never been in the Hamptons, but I saw it a lot in differents soaps, series, films. But, really, never this way! Vibrant and creative.Bravo!

I love your work…you are crazy…but incredible
April 16, 2010 at 5:17 am
Great light all throughout. Very nice work: the series has a good number of fairly original shots. I find the American flag on this small building almost hilarious! It is not a government building, is it?
April 16, 2010 at 5:21 am
i love this spread. and i love hearing about how you guys did it on the DL. i feel as though it adds to the vibe of the whole thing.

Looks like a fantastic place to holiday and photos are beautiful.
April 16, 2010 at 5:34 am
I think i am in love with these photographs more because of the story behind them. I particularly love the shot of your neighbours board and accessories. BRILLIANT… exactly what i love about photography… I just wish i could hear the story of every photo shoot that i admired or even just saw.thanks again!
April 16, 2010 at 5:38 am
The session is so great! It is fresh & live & joyful and looks so AWESOMY REAL = no superduper session mess and all the stuff which pretend to be something else they are (you know what I mean, a model pretending to be a traveller in a Amazon jungle or a Nomad on Sahara… hahahaa…)
April 16, 2010 at 6:31 am

Great story, location and, of course, photographs! Southwestern style is not in fashion now but we have an abundance of color and flavor in Santa Fe, New Mexico if you need it! Would love to see you here!

April 16, 2010 at 10:14 am
To me these photos perfectly embody the essence of summer in New England… Im guessing they were shot at the Ocean Dunes in Amagansett or Surf Lodge in Montauk…

I love these…
April 16, 2010 at 11:51 am
I love your work in all its facets. As it evolves–and this blog evolves–I hope you will continue to feature here the nameless, non-professional fashionistas that drew us to here to begin with.

I enjoyed this spread very much…what a great place to vacation!
April 16, 2010 at 12:29 pm
I love your description of the process of shooting these! It's so refreshing to hear that at least some people are not hell bent on getting everyone's permission for every move they make. The photos turned out wonderfully because of it.
April 16, 2010 at 1:03 pm

It is very often with little budget that the effect is GREAT. I LOVE this shoot, very simple and natural, something we don't see nowadays..
April 16, 2010 at 5:51 pm
love this editorial
April 16, 2010 at 6:37 pm
Scott, you are an amazing photographer, you really are. Thanks so much for sharing your work.
April 16, 2010 at 6:54 pm
But why photograph a bulles bag that isn't even available anymore?
April 16, 2010 at 7:21 pm
Your shots are so lovely! This magazine stuck paydirt when they hired you. I find it hard to believe they are willing to spend so little to promote the idea that WE should spend big bucks on the clothes they present!
April 16, 2010 at 8:05 pm
These are beautiful photos first of all, and a beautiful area. I love the dress in the last photo, and the bike and scene and justoverall I love the first picture too.
April 16, 2010 at 8:08 pm
beautiful! and i love the sneaky factor
April 16, 2010 at 11:49 pm
This is amazing. I love that even in a shoot for a magazine as swanky as Italian Vogue, you and your crew were running around like a bunch of kids trespassing on their neighbor's property, looking for a baseball they'd knocked over the fence by accident.
Anyway, lovely photos. I think knowing the background story behind the shoot makes them even more special.
April 17, 2010 at 7:03 am
So lovely. I want to be there. The light and not-quite sherbet, not quite bright colours are mesmerising.

April 18, 2010 at 2:33 pm
such beautiful shoots!!!
April 18, 2010 at 5:48 pm
I wish my style was just like this. unfortunately, i don't have the time to put into having a distinct style. maybe after university. bah
April 18, 2010 at 7:45 pm
my earlier comment was that there is a clear distinction between your personal work and your editorial work – but I wasn't referring to the quality or relevence. You have a great eye. So may others focus mainly on trends. Your images have enduring relevence and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your editorial and other projects. I loved the little film you posted by Garance at the end of the fashion shows. I know that joy of working with a creative partner. I hope to show you what I'm working on too one day!
April 18, 2010 at 9:18 pm

wow your photography is amazing! great use of natural light and wind!
April 19, 2010 at 9:18 am
Wow, pretty girl. I also like that it feels kinda' at home instead of some overly modern interior decor.
April 19, 2010 at 11:48 am
totally lovely whoever did the styling has done a great work.I LOVED IT
April 19, 2010 at 1:57 pm
can't get into adolescent models, but the natural elements are thoughtfully composed.
April 19, 2010 at 2:26 pm
That's a great story and your photos are, of course, incredible.
April 20, 2010 at 9:09 am
The shot with the LV bag is my favourite. VERY subtle, makes it seem very natural. One of your best!
